In AnyTree, when a branch splits, the two new branches tend to run almost parallel for a while before getting a wider angle and taking different directions. There are no settings to change this behavior . This is a typical behavior in bushes, but very rare in trees, especially in old aged trees. You may think it is a subtle detail, but if you try to make an old oak or maple the result will always be unrealistic. You don't need to be a tree expert to have this feeling: you may not realize the reason, but you will feel that "there's something wrong in that old maple". So, if you need a tree that follows a fantasy shape is great, but for making realistic trees definitely thumb down! Apart from that, there are still a lot (really a LOT) of bugs in AnyTree.
Hey, this branching issue and the rest of the bugs are fixed now. I've made the tool a lot faster and functional as well. As the updates are free, I think you'll have a better experience with the latest version.
BadNormals is a great channel dude. His explanation on math subject is awesome. Anytree is sensacional, he used the new update on blender 3.4 very fast, giving him a head start on the subject
I wish the blender market had purchasing power parity, as a college student I get 100 dollars a month which includes rent and food so I'll have to save for 6 months or so to be able to get it. I know it wouldn't be useful to the addon creators but it should be an option that the creator can apply
I think it might be a little too easy to end up with sci-fi trees, so as you say. the ability to choose the type of tree would be nice. The animation feature IS nice, though again, perhaps more in the fantasy realm. Also: VERY expensive.
@@TheCGEssentials Very expensive for a product full of bugs, plenty of limits (see my other comment) and abandoned (in spite of the promises from the author). @@LuxAlibi Hey, Anytree is far from being abandoned. It has gotten around 5 updates since you wrote this comment. All reported bugs have been solved + it's around 6x faster to use. I recommend you try out the latest version as all the updates are free as promised.
Howdy CG Essentials, I have a question. What is your attitude towards "Royalty Free" licensed Blender addons? I personally don't like this one that much as it can throw some obstacles in your way. I prefer GPL licenses only. How do you see it? Thanks in advance.
@@TheCGEssentials Well, isn't it the case that when I create something with an addon that's licensed under a royalty, I always have to ask the author first if I can continue to use it commercially? At least that's how I understood it.
Interesting Addon but i think It Needs some improvements. I feel like It misses some parameteres to personalizs your shape esperience... Idk. Btw i Need used the bulit in tree gen, Mtree Is way Better in most of cases to create trees.
I have seen tons if tree generators and thats not even 5% of one. The idea is ok, but plants follow a logic way growing and what I get with a few clicks out of speedtree etc, is many times better
I mean...I don't think anyone was implying a Blender geometry node add-on for making trees is comparable to one of the stand-alone industry leading softwares built ground up for only creating trees and vegetation...
@@TheCGEssentials Yes, the approach is great, but als mtree uses nodes and the developer of thegrove3d wants to do that in the future. But if you look at speed tree nodes, or growls in 3dsmax you have a much challenging workflow. And there is huge difference between game trees and archviz. I wish there would be a tool but honestly seeing over the years how complex the task is.. 5% .. still a long way to go. And I used the first beta of speed tree once.
Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about AnyTree in the comments below! :)
Too expensive. Guess I have to stick with sapling tree gen.

What's up guy! Congrats on 100.000. I remember watching your videos when Blender was still a whole new world to me. Thank you.
Thanks very much!
Imagine if Tim Burton had “AnyTree” for “Edward Sissorhands”…incredible tool. Fractal-like, as is nature. 🤔🍷🎩🎩🎩👍

I think this addon is awsome! Very helpful.
Glad you think so!
Anything to make trees quickly is a great help. Especially if it can be made into a game asset they are so time consuming.
Interesting addon, what's the tris count for the entire tree at the end?
What's up guy! Cool lesson, thanks
congrats for 100k i like your intro when you speak
Thanks! 😃
For this tree add-on we change texture of leaves and bark, right, please tell me
12:16 one at you could get presets is by making them yourself and then saving them to your asset browser.
You could I suppose - part of my problem is probably a lack of talent on my part to make it more closely match specific trees ;)
when using nodes, the leaves from the tree disappear. how to save a tree with leaves into one object? version blender 3.5.1
can you use this and make a pine tree please?
super stupid question, did everything, have my tree. Now how can I not see the cube objects around my tree?! O_o
hey there, I dont see any branches when I click "add new shape tree" ... any ideas? im on blender 3.1 , i tried on 3.0 as well and nothing
2 weeks late but you need to be on 3.4, that's the only supported version of AnyTree
Hi Can I Export to eu5 without problems ؟
i got an error dosent work
Hello, I need help with the leaves. When I convert tree into mesh all the leave just disappear there is no mesh can some one help me Thanks
im having the same problem, did you ever find a solution?
