What goes down in the real world? I am confused as to why ANYONE would put a race track down smack dab in the middle of a residential district?
We can pretty quickly all agree that noise limits are stupid. Racetracks should be kept as racetracks. The thing is that residential and urban areas moves up to the track over time. Most racetracks have been there for more than 35 years. But year by year, cities becomes bigger, and rural areals smaller with time. In Denmark, we have experienced that some even speculate in that, because ofc. while there is a racetrack, prices on land and houses nearby are cheap, but if you as a neighbor to a track, can get that track closed down, your land/house/whatever will grow in value over time. Closing down a racetrack has showned to be easier than you should think basically because no other people that car community it-self gives a shit about cars, racing or anything thereabout, so to keep everyone happy, every track has to be within noise limits. If you go to a trackday in Denmark, your car have to be within a 95 DB limit I believe, and at a raceweekend, the cars has to be within a 100 or 105 DB limit. Furthermore, each track only have limited given days that they can use these DB limits. E.G. the three tracks we have here only have three or if they are lucky, four race weekends in total each.

+driventolegend True. Less than 6s to go from 300km/h to a stop. (using brake pedal. Not a tree or a fence). Just lifting your foot off the throttle makes the car brake at roughly 1G : that's how much downforce and drag they have.

2023, its been 14 years now since Zonda R was first released worldwide. On NFS SHIFT and GT5, this Zonda R is overpowered.
This car has one the best sounds in the world. I absolutely love everything about this aspect, alongwith other aspects of this car. I love the scream, the wail, the rumble and the whine (especially when it 'bumps' during gear changes). It feels just so 'alive'.
Zonda R in 2023 still is one of the legendary racecars to exist among the Sesto Elemento.
Noise limits? what's next...speed bumps?

Shiina Kobayashi-Chan the pure use of this car is racing. You should've KINDA seen that its made for racing. So you race at tracks and not the road, which is why its weird not to be allowed to drive on the track

Still easily my favourite car they've ever reviewed.
It was the only car SO LOUD they had to put a headset on him. This car is just engineering perfection. If I had about $6 Billion dollars for a track and this car I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Any car you need a headset because the V12 is too loud is my kind of car. It is beautifully built and engineered. That black gloss R is insane. I can only hope that I can be that rich to own one eventually.

The Porsche Carrera GT is one of the last raw and emotional super cars out there. Would not say better or worse then the zonda R but different and fantastic as well.

Why in the world would there be a noise limit on a TRACK, that is just plain stupid lol.
So the people that live local to the track don't get too pissed off and get the track shut down
i feel like residents upset with some noise during the day can't shut down a billion dollar race track. That would be ridiculous if they could.
+Telexic They could. Do you want a bunch of Pagani Zonda R's running around infront of your house? No. They are over 40dcbs and can make you deaf if you get too close and for too long.
Cylo Maniac I doubt there are homes that are close enough to a track for the noise to actually harm them. It would just be annoying if you didn't like it. Why would you move close to a track if the noise bothered you? There are plenty of cars that drive on the roads where I live that are as loud if not louder than the zonda R lol.

Also, AMG is one of the few that actually sells supercar engines to other manufacturer.
AFAIK, atm Porsche and Ferrari are not selling their engines. Audi doesn't sell its in-house Lambo-Audi blocks either.

Fun fact: Pagani would continue to make Zonda variants until 2019, even while it’s replacement the Huayra was in production and the Utopia was under development.
From 2013 - 2019, 6 years, both the Zonda and Huayra would be produced by Pagani.

I went to the Goodwood festival of speed back in 2013. When the car showcase came, they drove one of these following a Mazda 787B. The noise it makes is phenomenal, it sent shivers down my spine. And yes, it is ludicrously loud, like being at an air show. You can literally feel the sound waves hitting you.

they actually make zondas still. I saw a completely new one at the new Pagani factory a month ago. They still have the 7.3 AMG engines left. so they will make them until they run out of them, wich they will soon
facepalm.jpg define "completely new" because every supercar of this calibur is basically "completely new" by typical automobile standards... 20,000 miles for one of these is ALOT. Not to mention they constantly service and upgrade/maintain the cars for their customers probably just as much if not more than the time they spend actually making their latest vehicle, givin the extremely exclusive nature of their product. Curious it strikes me that you perhaps know someone who is employed at Pagani that can verify this "Pagani still producing Zondas" claim.

There is no reason cars like this shouldn't be road legal. If you can afford one, just have the owner pay a premium for his tax disc and registration and away he goes. The government gets money and we get to see these beauties on the roads.
Teutone nice idea but it's a health and safety thing, pagani still have no idea just how fast this thing is... plus think of insurance no one would want to take it out just in case
It's a limited production car, the will insurance be insanely high, at probably 2-5k a month. It's insanely loud, as you know. And it would need many downgraded parts to have it legally on the road.

We've in no way reached the pinnacle. Those cars are both amazing but both missing modern/hybrid engine technology such as KERS. Love or hate the new technology, it will bring better performance.

By no way was I saying that the R or FXX were not modern.. I comment pertained to hybrid element not one or the other.
The pinnacle will be a full electric hyper car with 4 motors. One one each wheel. One batterie in the middle of the car as low as possible. A car like that would have amazing acceleration, and amazing corner speed due to possibility to control the torque in ms in depend on each wheel and the extreme low center of gravity.

Going into hammerhead the Stig ran a bit wide in the braking zone and had to correct it and kinda slid into the turn. Wonderful bit of driving.
