Zonda would probably still beat the veron around Imola, as you still have fast corners like Tamburello and the Rivazza's where the zonda can carry way more speed
Kevin Farnand Lets be fair guys Turbos are only really useful in the straights where you can really open up on the throttle. When Cornering the Turbo does not help as much in fact it can work against you in a corner depending on the car and the skill of the driver. In fact sometimes on a course that has ton's of corners a toning down the HP works better.
Dear top gear. As an "average Joe" I do notice that old stig seemed to drive a lot better than new stig. Old stig doesn't hold drifts on the exits of the corner . but what I noticed is the fact that the new stig hold drifts about 50-80 ft when exiting corners which in essences slows down your lap time ... So as an enthusiasts I can't say the new lap times are not 100% accurate.... Hence we all know Ben collings is old stig.. Can you at least help new stig drive better
thayyib mahmood look very closely at when the drift happens. it ok to get drifty into the apex but as soon as you come out you want the car as str8 as possible. just look at when Ben Collins drives, its a big difference from when this new stig drives.

I still prefer the McLaren F1. No forced induction and incredibly agile instead of built for raw speed. And I'm speaking as an American here. Then again, I'm also a fan of cars like the Toyota MR2 and Mazda RX-7 which (unlike the McLaren) I've driven and enjoyed the experience. On the other end of the spectrum, I took an '81 Buick Regal (I know. Shut up) with a 350 Olds Rocket engine out for a hot lap on Michigan Speedway (basically in my back yard) and pussed out when I hit 125 with pedal to spare because I didn't want to wreck, but that car was also fun to drive since I could feel the power and potential in the car while it did everything I asked of it. This comment is rambling a bit since I've been in the booze, so I apologize. But I very much prefer a fun car to drive over the fanciest cars and I get a kick out of pushing a car to its limits (within reason) and like well-rounded cars over brute force horsepower. I give bonus points for naturally-aspirated powerplants for the throttle response and overall feel (my daily driver has a turbocharged engine and I'm still working out the feel for when the turbo kicks in and it's a learning experience).

Worth pointing out that that this is only one of a few occasions where 2 featured cars in one episode had some sort of problem, no matter how big, going round the track. The Veyron with the right side slightly dented and the Zonda F Roadster with the engine smoke, then a few seasons later the Porsche 959 and the Ferrari F40 with mechanical issues. They both got a DNF and a DNS.

The GTR's time shows what a masterpiece of engineering it actually is because it's "only" got 560hp and it weighs 1.8 tons, but it handles so much better than most other cars and that's what is surprising to me. I loved the Veyron when I was a kid. I was bitterly disappointed that it didn't get to the top of the leader board. I always wanted it to do better. I actually stormed off out of sight at the time and pouted for hours.
I would absolutely love to see a Hennessy Venom GT or an SSC Ultimate Aero TT on this track. Both with 1200+hp and around 2700 pounds. low, and wide. I'd be very curious as to what the "Stig" could do with these two cars around this track!?!?...

I loved the Veyron when I was a kid. I was bitterly disappointed that it didn't get to the top of the leader board. I always wanted it to do better. I actually stormed off out of sight at the time and pouted for hours.

I would absolutely love to see a Hennessy Venom GT or an SSC Ultimate Aero TT on this track. Both with 1200+hp and around 2700 pounds. low, and wide. I'd be very curious as to what the "Stig" could do with these two cars around this track!?!?...

Thę Køenigşegg I looked it up and other than Top Gear's track, there are no showings of any track runs. I'll give credit to the engine being straight out of a Ford GT and the body being made of carbon fiber, but that's it. It's onky made to go straight.

whp/thp (wheel/true hp): measured at the wheels
A brake doesn't have a flywheel, the flywheel is mounted on the crankshaft.
Zonda's aged so very well, particularly when lined up alongside the Bugatti.

The stig used to be Michael Schumacher but now it's changed due to skiing.
The Shad Schumacher was the Stig only on that show where the FXX came out on the track. The real Stig here is/was Ben Collins, look it up
It's not like the driver had no choice. He signed the contract and I'm sure it's part of the fun being anonymous. Usually once they replace The Stig with a new driver the old guy's name comes to light anyway.

the zonda beating the veyron around turns makes me smile. now all these jackasses who just pick the car with the biggest numbers can shut up. real car enthusiasts can appreciate any car. i myself would take a zonda over a veyron anyday. rwd owns 4wd and the auto veyron lacks communication that the zonda has with its driver. go rwd!
I would prefer the Veyron over the Zonda simply because the insurance rates would be marginally lower. That and the fact that the Zonda resembles a bug with tires and a windscreen, in my opinion.
Using front or back byest helps 4wd weights too much and Is more expensive and complicated
