Mildred deserves recognition.Listen to those chords, Mahalia, nobody could play like Mildred, she was an asset to your ministry, its a shame what happened in the end
I would love to know what happened to Mahalia's fantastic piano player, Mildred Falls at the end, caroline! Did she and Mahalia have some falling out or something?! Just curious!
@@carolinenoble1321 That’s not true, Mildred was a sickly woman - more than Mahalia. Mildred couldn’t keep up with Mahalia’s schedule after 1965 so she was relegated to small local performances. However, Mahalia paid Mildred’s medical bills for the rest of her life and left Mildred money in her will. Mildred was the only one of her accompanists she left money to.
Man I tell you I'm 21 years old and I listen to what I call great music as far as jazz, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Country even classical and I tell you she's the greatest AND she only sang one genre of music (Gospel) and she's my favorite singer then there's everyone else no questions Asked! Also, I read her biography, seen all her intervews, listened to all her music, and it seems like her soul was spotless as if she was an angel from GOD Listen to that VOICE
Mildred Falls, the pianist, is beyond fantastic. Without her, Mahalia's songs wouldn't be as powerful as they are. I could listen to Mildred Falls playing the piano all day, without anyone singing at all.
I stumbled on to this lady singing Dannny Boy, best version ever, now i can't stop playing her stuff. I don't know whether to give up drinking or drink more, she definitely has a great effect on me. I know my life will change because of her.
Guy Beamish I can’t speak for Mahalia, and I misself get drunk jess fine listenin to her any dah of the week - but I can tell ya that when Jesus comes back to Ireland FIRST THING he’ll do is go straight to the Guinness factory to return his bottles, and fill up at the shrine. #WORD
THANK YOU SO MUCH! These here "so called" LA musicians CAINT even come close to this!!! You don't need no drumbeat here...the meter, the way Ms. Fails is playin & the Great Mahaila is puttin it down....LORD HAVE MERCY! EPIC TRIUMPTH!!!
@liljostens91 Well I should rephrase that: It sounds like it could have been an encore from that album. I'm sure she sang many of the same songs during this European tour. And Mildred had a way of playing a song the same way all the time whereas Mahalia never sang the same way twice, lol. I was just basing it off what I heard at the beginning; Mildred.
Of course, I don't know if this is true or not, but I'd heard that Mildred Falls liked to indulge in alcohol much too often and would often be late for and miss rehearsals, and that's what caused the split between her and Sis Mahalia! It's best to remember that there are TWO SIDES to every coin!

I'm a total atheist but I will say this: this is one of the one or two beautiful songs that ole book inspired...oh yes sisters and brothers.
she's fabulous thank you lord for mother mahalia
Oh this is another encore after her amazing 6 minute rendition of "When the Saints Go Marchin' In".

The great voice of America
John 4:1-42 for anyone that didn't know and is wondering.
Oh surely Jesus met her! Hallelujah enjoyed this number
Ela tinha uma voz maravilhosa, timbre forte, temos em comum dia e mês de nascimento e sou cantora também ( contralto)! Maravilhosa!!
Yes Lord Mahalia sang that song
Did u hear the piano player following her. Musician of today take note. The piano doesn't try to overshadow the singer.
The great Mildred Falls.
