Those folk knew how to clap in time because of us pentecostals coming into the country during 50s and 60s. 😂 Seriously Mahalia would have told those brothers and sisters to clap in time.

Electrifying performance! maybe it's only me and my wrong impression, but looks and sounds if Janis, Tina, Aretha and some other stellar singers had learnt a lot from her. She was ahead of her time and this performance could sum-up all vocal developments of the 20th century.

Mahalia Jackson touched the hearts, souls, and minds of millions of people, and even on today, her marvelous voice echos the joyful praises of godliness. She was truly an example of what a Gospel Singer is, and is not. You cannot find another today that stands so vividly before the people as an emblem of holiness as it relates to stardom and true dedication of her profession . . . as that is, giving total praise to the Lord, and not a mere entertainer. She "was not" a show, as is seem today.
This is right. She must have given God everything. Lord help us all to do the same today.
