It is currently 6:40 AM in Buffalo New York. I've had the pleasure of playing Mahalia Jackson in Mahalia The Musical, She has inspired me my entire life. I discovered her in my life at the rightful age of six, in the movie Imitation of Life singing Precious Lord.The older I get the more inspirational she becomes to me. I am still singing Mahalia's music. At 68 years I just performed on Saturday, Didn't it Rain and A City called Heaven. Thank you Hailey for all the joy you've brought to my life 💖💖🤎

Mahalia's singing touches my soul still today at 80!
This has a bittersweet feel to me...as I was an aspiring opera singer, when I attended Howard University back in the late 90's, this was my mother's favorite song that she always asked me to sing for her. I love it...from the opera PORGY AND BESS., by George and Ira Gershwin. After JESUS, my mother was my best friend. She stood by my side when many, many, many people turned their backs on me and she fiercely tried to protect me all my life. Finally, in 2022 at the age of 81, the Lord called my mother home. She held on so long, just trying to make sure that I was good. I know that none of us are here to stay, but I really do know the pain of being "a motherless child." I miss my mother so so much. Sometimes, the pain hits me sharp and deep still. Rest easy, Mommy. I will see you soon enough when Jesus comes back! Love always, Ginger.
If Mahalia Jackson had crossed over into popular music she would be a household name. Her voice, her range she had it all, but she stayed true to her devotion to God and simply wouldn't do it. I have loved her for many years.

My grandmother frequently played Mahalias' music on her portable Zenith record player. I would sing along with her and my grandmother. I thought I was one little soulful white girl at the age of 5. Her voice is timeless; I understand why Elvis used to listen to her music for hours. She's now singing to her Heavenly Father.

i used to love euphoria till season one...once it got tik tok famous it really got ruined. I remember when i would watch the first ever episodes and think how magical that show was, but it's very unfortunate cause i heard most of the cast left (and i still do think that it was mostly influenced by tik tok where everyone would find something to cancel someone's entire job career, which is really sad that most people have that kind of mindset)

I am 71 and have a personal, hand-written letter from Mahalia written in 1969. I was 17 at the time. I donated the original to Standfor U. libraries a couple years ago. What a treasure. I kept photocopies of it.
