@@Canodiablo it's just because people actually have to do something and not be shit for it to work 😂
@@Canodiablo I agree to an extent, I think if you put who'swho on any other map, it would be amazing, but the tight areas in Die Rise make it extremely difficult to revive yourself, which isn't to much of a problem, it makes it a skill perk, BUT the biggest problem with Who'swho is where it spawns you at times and the fact the zombies can knock your downed body off the map. Right this way, sir Because most of the falls come from botched jumps or like Tim said the zombies causing you to miss your jump.
Die Rise was one of my all time favorites honestly. The first map where I actually learned how to train. Gun Locker so I could set up really early if I wanted. Getting the free perks from the jumping jacks was incredibly easy because you just had to build a trample steam and run around it letting it kill them without shooting your gun. For me, jumping from building to building added excitement, like "Man, I better not mess this up", The Seliquifier was amazing honestly. I feel like if you had problems slipping off the map with it, then you should let someone else grab it because it really isn't that hard to not shoot it near an edge of a building. The perks being in the elevators also added some fun challenge as well. Like you better hope your jugg is on the floor you are, or you better gamer up. it was just all out a really fun experience for me as a kid. Plus learning all the strats to get through the map as fast as possible was fun.
Exactly. Most of the criticisms for Die Rise stem from people dying from the difficult aspects of the map, rather than poor design. I love TranZit, but that map is completely barren & was poorly designed so I believe criticism for the map is warranted. With Die Rise it just seems like a bunch of whining because the map is hard lol

Pretty cool how we can love/hate the map for the same reasons.
A note about who's who, I personally love the concept of it, especially because there are some areas on die rise were nobody could possibly make it to revive you. The perk was executed poorly though. People being able to revive the wrong you is irritating... and giving you a pap'd ballistic knife or even just a temporary quick revive would make it insanely better.
Honestly, giving your clone your perks to revive you with would be enough. The problem for me wasn't surviving with nill weapons long enough to save myself, it was surviving without things like speed cola or staminup to make maneuvering around the clusterfuck of a horde in a cramped map like Die Rise long enough to go for the kamikaze revive. Plus, it gives you more agency in how you want to recover, because if you know your original body is fucked, you can cut your losses and haul ass to a weapon and stabilize.
My idea of a Who's Who 2.0
Who's Who 2.0:
Instead of entering a downed state, respawn with a random loadout weapon. Allows you to revive your downed character.
Modifier: Respawn with a random loadout weapon with an AAT and 3 loadout perks. Increased reload speed.
The Nomadic Spittin' Sax but die rise is such an easy map you should be able to revive yourself
@@hardrada2641 with no gun to kill the disconnected, slow walking zombies in black ops 2 it's pretty easy for them to trap you. Point taken tho I'll just git gud
Who's who sucked but if you're good at avoiding getting hit like me it can be useful. The challenge of this map is why I liked it. If you're good it brought out the best of your skill...if you suck well have fun dying.

@@zeronameless7429 no thats also in base game. its a rare glitch but basically the game had an anti-cheat system that got introduced because at the time PS3 and Xbox 360 had a horrid amount of hackers in the games and they cheated a lot in zombies to basically run around with every gun and unlimited ammo. so the glitch of having whos who happened if you had mule kick because even though you had a perk for 3 guns, you self rez and the game detects you have multiple guns. so its supposed to strip you of your current weapons and cash to punish hackers. its just a trash glitch that happens

What I like about navigating the map: it reminds me of when zombies was a new concept to me and camping in the corner of nacht seemed like the most viable strategy. Waiting for elevators to move you creates the same backs against the wall feeling for me and forces you to stand and fight instead of training them around like you would on any other map. I know that isn't a lot of peoples cup of tea though which is fine
I personally have only played Die Rise about 5 times now, but I can still agree that it was a bit more unique and challenging - Also have never camped on Nacht, always seemed like a death wish to me since all you need is the thunder gun and Jugg

Also that spot on top of the elevator down from first box is awesome, especially when you know you're screwed but you have the trampolsteam spot that launches you to the other building is the most exciting thing ever.

I dunno. I can't appreciate that you have such a focus on what a "zombies map" should be. I think it's absolutely incredible they're trying to innovate by changing the physical setting rather than adding more magical colossus' and flying ghosts. But what do I know, I'm just an oldie who honestly just misses lead bullets in Cod games.
The fact that they tried to innovate with all the verticality is why I love it. I get people might not like the layout, but at least Treyarch tried to be different with this.

Way to make this map better; give us PhD but buff it in a specific way that if you were to fall off the map entirely, once you reach the ‘bottom’ there’s a bright flash of an explosion from PhD’s effect and once the flash fades, you’re back on the map as if you just went out of bounds and the game just rubber-banded you back in

My feelings on Die Rise are a bit strange. I loved the map when it first came out since it felt like a great return to form for zombies after Tranzit, since Tranzit didn't really feel like a zombies map it felt like a novelty. So given the option between tranzit, town, nuketown 2025(Which not everyone had access to initially because it was a pre order bonus at first) and Die Rise, I felt that Die RIse was the best of those options at the time, since everything before it just felt lacking. However, after mob of the dead, buried, and origins released I can't think of a time when any of my group said "Hey lets play DIe Rise"
I have great memory of die rise. I mean, I only “played” it once. My friends older brother set up a glitch spot that was impossible to die in, and then allowed me to play. I played for a few rounds with packed weapons and had a laugh. Haven’t bought it since i don’t want to ruin my good memory yet.

As much as I can see everyones hatred for who's who, and respect that, you kinda messed up on that samantha's curse thing. That only happened in your kermit run because who's who is a custom perk in BO3, so the game isn't fully implemented with its design. It def did happen in BO2, but it was patched out a long time ago.

This map is one of my favorites. I think it’s the perfect middle ground between the classic zombies and the new zombies. You mentioned how the map doesn’t “flow”, which is valid. However, I always interpreted it as a challenge rather than a design flaw. The rooms have that nacht der untoten feel where you really feel as if you are fighting for your life.
I feel like zombies after this point (and even somewhat in transit) relied too heavily on complex fetch quests and overly complex mechanics. This map has that skill based survival horror aspect that I love in zombies.
I also think the wall guns and the trample steam are so much fun to use. Me and my friends never used whos who while playing, which is fine because you can find 4 other great perks anyways. I do agree that PHD Flopper would have been awesome on this map.
Oh and at 9:35 you mention how you don’t often get the perk from the boss level, however me and my friends got it all the time. We did this by camping the one spot with trample steams and not shooting our weapons at all. It made for some iconic moments as we were all huddled in a corner scared for our lives.

These laws were set in place to jump start China economy and to massively increase their industrialization rate. They went from essentially being a mid-evil society to a fully modern civilization. One of the down sides of this Great Leap Forward was the massive killings by the government and subsequent total use of the totalitarian regimes power. Millions upon millions died during this time period. So the map isn’t supposed to be a fun light hearted map it’s supposed to be very dull and gloomy and depressing because well that’s what it was like. I think they nailed it, as good as it could’ve been
The music says “we all fall down”
Week [a lot] of telling Tim to call the IX analysis "A Diamond in the Rough"
OmegaYikes That’s Mob or Origins because most of BO2’s maps suck
@@broken_arrow_1179 mob and origins were (arguably) the 2 greatest zombies maps of all time and basically carried black ops 2 on their own. they arent really diamonds in the rough so much as diamonds neatly laid on top of all the rough so you never even have to acknowledge or interact with the rough ever
-Javcab- no, they are the greatest
Tbh i love die rise. Everything about it, but thats me
Ikr. The map is badass when you get used to it, nothing better than a challenge instead of sitting in one spot with an RPD
@@jrealz29 for real. The perk thing isnt even that bad. The siliquifier is OP, and you get a tramplesteam to traverse the map
Me too I love Die Rise
All of you are demons
Same I loved Die Rise
I played offline at the time of this map and always loved it. When I got online later in the game and found out everyone hates this map I was shocked. I can see it’s problems but my answer is always “get good” lol
Same. I've always felt people just hate the zombies maps that are harder
Back when this map came out on PS3 everyone seemed to love it despite how buggy it use to be. Fast forward to 2014 when all the DLC was out and now everyone trashes it.
Even to this day it remains one of my favorite maps
It’s messed up when you realize that the Easter Egg song is called We all fall down ☹️ it like they knew and laugh about it
Wait! Daily uploads are back?!
No
Die Rise is my favorite map. I love how there's a million valid training areas, I love how there are strong wall weapons available early on (makes early game an absolute blast), I love the Sliquifier (makes high rounds a little more interesting).
Everything that you hate about Die Rise makes it conducive to dramatic moments. Moments where you fall down an Elevator shaft, but somehow land on the edge of the floor right below you instead of falling to your doom. Moments where no one is around to revive you, but Who's Who lets you somehow revive yourself (I adore this perk, it works for me more often than not.) Moments where a teammate is down incredibly far away, and you need to traverse this incredibly difficult-to-traverse map, and also get lucky with the Elevators to get them in time.
And of course, the epic troll moments of placing your Trample-steam in a perfect spot to catch one of your teammates off guard and throw them off the map
@@ndy8463 did you mean PhD flopper?
launching the map for the very first time, with the very first impressions was fucking amazing
seeing the world in absolute peril on a dangerously unstable highrise, buildings around you being broken and shattered like glass, space debris falling back down from the heavens, and that chilling loading screen sound...
everything about the map fills you with excitement and adventure, maybe even goosebumps
Right this way, sir Not me. I fucking hated this map. It was good when I first got but I was also too young to actually realize how bad some of the things were.
blahthebiste it’s also very different because usually people are so used to training zombies but since there aren’t many good places to not fall or slip off, the best option is to camp it out
Honestly, I couldn't focus on the rest of the video because I was too distracted by Kermit saying "Oh shi- I'm low on bullets!" That is, in my opinion, all you need to make a decent custom map.
When you talked about falling off the map I literally just slid to my death on die rise
So here are some of my opinions on the map. Keep in mind, I'm one of those people for whom the verticality was never a big issue:
- Elevators and shafts are a blessing and a curse. If you're being chased by a huge group of zombies, chances are you can run into an elevator shaft and *probably* ride/fall to a different floor, offering a brief moment of respite
- The Slickuifier is like the Thunder Gun but objectively worse. You can blast it into a horde and kill a few in front and leave the rest stumbling. It's good for area control if you can coordinate with your team: hold up and slick a chokepoint while your teammates shoot any zombies that come through
- Jumping Jacks can fuck right off. Although, looking back, this may have been the inspiration for the Extinction cryptids
- Parts are also annoying to find. The design of the map is entirely rubble and junk. And what are the parts you're looking for? Junk amidst the rubble.
- But, by far the biggest issue with the map is its' design. Even if you can deal with the verticality, there is no getting around the fact that 99% of the map is small rooms or spaces connected by narrow hallways which mostly all look the same. It's very easy to get lost the first few times you play and there are very few training spots. The first ones which come to mind are the Who's Who rooms and maybe the red upside-down stairs. The hallways I've mentioned often lead to dead ends, which can end your run on later rounds if you accidentally run into one with a horde at your back.
Only real gamers know PHD was teased at Mob of the Dead on the docks.
Checkmate, Tim.
Real gamer right here
The point of die rise is the tension in the jumps and the height. Its mental to be different from other zombie maps.
I liked it. Loved the unique skyscraper settings. Hated the random elevators tho.
