Robin told his son as he laid sick to play a recording of this song and lay it on his chest when he took his last breath. Robin had such a beautiful singing voice. May he RIP.❤
Robin Gibb ... the voice that reaches your heart ... simply one of the greatest voices that ever adorned the music world ..... when we lost this brilliant singer/songwriter back in May 2012, we lost an absolute legend.
This song + Robin's voice = perfection. No other singer on this planet could do justice to this song, not even his own brother Barry could, this song and Robin were meant for each other and nobody else
I have suffered with mental health problems after being diagnosed with cancer and a brain tumour and loosing the woman that I loved all in the same year and it feels like when I cry, the whole world is laughing at me.Just my take.. going to have this played at my funeral.
aww, The Songbird himself❤ Mo described his twin's voice as "the voice that reaches your heart ". When asked what this song meant Robin said he wasn't sure and it was up to the listener to decide what it meant.
@@generationgapreacts Great Reaction and a wonderful Bee Gees VIDEO and Song for you is "Alone" but you have to watch the accompanying video closely as it has many Home Video shots and even a flask of them appearing on Stage, aged 8 upwards,in Australia. It,also, shows other clips over a 40 year period.
The 3 boys raised in Australia who went onto stun the world with their incredible harmonies. I also love the stereo album version of this song. I say “stereo” as there was also a mono version released too. To me the recorded version is even more emotional. Well done on the reaction. Craig 😊
Robin was like a secret weapon. When he sang it was just a whole new level. I am so sad for Barry…the oldest of 4 brothers is the only one left. Just not fair.
The Bee Gees rocked in so many ways, I started joke, and It's only words, their vocals were so amazing , This is when music was amazing, I love all their music
Thanks, girls! Robin has always been my favorite... he sounds just the same here as when he first sang it at age EIGHTEEN.... the most unique voice of all the Gibbs, IMHO -
Yay, she’s on board! There’s no other group like The Bee Gees. Their voices, their songs, their lyrics, just touch your soul! I always liked them but when I was younger I didn’t take the time to really listen. Now there are certain songs and in some songs Barry’s voice makes my eyes tear up. The same with Robin’s voice. With Maurice Closer than close just moves me, though he’s got many more that I love were he takes the lead. We mustn’t forget the very talented Andy Gibb with his I just want to be your everything. Thank you both, it was a great reaction.
Great choice. This is one of my favorite 1960's early Bee Gees songs. There is no song that highlight's Robin's singing voice better than I Started A Joke. He sang lead on this song giving himself the opportunity to show how good of a singer he is and he certainly accomplished it.
Robin was only17- 18 when he wrote this and it was recorded. At this time he was just a slender kid! You need to check out some other of their early music where Robin is the lead singer (and lead writer): Massachusetts, Tokyo Nights, Wish You Were Here, I've Gotta Get A Message To You, and many more..
Whenever I hear and see the BeeGees I have to remind myself that we have lost 3 of the 4 brothers. Because I keep thinking that they are still right here with us! It's hard to believe that there is only Barry remaining with us. It breaks my heart x
Hi, my dear sister Patricia(who is now in heaven) simply love Bee Gees, and Robin is her crush 😁, so this song made me smile remember her...another good reaction girls...👍🏻👍🏻
I agree. Both Barry and Robin have a unique tone. It’s just something in the genes. I wonder what their father sounded like. I wonder if there’s anything out there where you can hear him singing, just to see if they inherited it from him.
Barry does indeed always turn his back and invariably draws attention to himself and away from Robin because performers so rarely do that. It is noticeable in a way that simply standing and playing his guitar as he normally would is not. To ostentatiously defer is not really deference at all; it is saying “Hey! Look how deferential I am!” The only way you would notice Barry while Robin is singing this song is for Barry to do exactly what he does.
I'm a late getting to this reaction. But this is probably my favorite Bee Gees song. It was also something of my anthem in my late teens, and early twenties.
This one brings me back. I spent two years in Vietnam in the'60s and I started listening to them on radio broadcast Saigon back then. Thank you from Maryland
One of the many most touching songs written, produced and performed by the three brothers - Robin could bring you to tears. “For Whom The Bell Tolls” is another incredible song. The lyrics will touch your soul. Great reactions, ladies! I’m a fan and have subscribed to your channel. You can’t go wrong with Bee Gees music.
I don't know why but from the time when I was a teenager to now as a great grandfather every time that I listen to this song it makes me teary eyed.... R. I. P. Robin Gibb 🌹
I started to cry and my wife started laughing that's typical, I remember this song way back when it was in the charts my mother in-law loved this song, she is sadly past on now, we used to have a great laugh, good reaction to a good song, 🌹🌹🇬🇧
The 97 Las Vegas concert is iconic - not only showing the BeeGees as a phenomonal live band , but also showcasing their ability to improve their older material as in this haunting version as well as "Gotta get a message". My favourite eksampel of this is" In the Morning" written ny Barry as a teen , now performed with their chestvoices and only Barrys guitar I hope you will react to this oneday
Yes, his voice is beautiful and much more. Mr. Blue Eyed Soul, full of vulnerablity. They knew how to bring him in in concerts. Not too many Robin songs like one after another due to dynamic performances. And so again: it's the three of them, makin' the whole thing complete. Barry and Robin with their individual, great vocal-abilities and Maurice, bringin' it always to perfect three-part harmony in thrilling chorusses.
Robins natural voice and his vibrato are what makes him stand out. Maurice (pronounced Morris) has a few songs that he has done lead on that also showcase his natural voice. Barry's falsetto is what most people identify with the Bee Gees but that is primarily from the point when the Disco phase began. They wrote the entire score for the movie Saturday night fever. Their youngest brother Andy as well as the twins Robin and Maurice have all passed away leaving Barry who is the oldest as the only surviving brother.

I can see your eyes tearing up! Me too. God, how I miss him. Three out of four brothers gone. And the oldest brother left alone. The last man standing. I understand his pain.
Actually Robin makes a mistake the first time round when instead of singing "I,finally, died which started the whole world living he said laughing though he corrected this in the second verse.
I have to say that I am in my late 60's and was there in The Bee Gees eras but never really got in to their music. I heard the occasional song but now I absolutely love them and have gone back and listened to all their songs. My younger self couldn't appreciate this magnificence for what he was but I now listen to them everyday and have gone back and caught up because of people like you two who do such a great job in reviewing these songs. THANK YOU.
I watched them in concert in 1989 At the Birmingham NEC in the UK. and I can tell you they are mesmerizing in person..I will always love their music but now I am a Nightwish fan and Floor is my new fave singer..
I always understood that the song was based on the time that they broke up as a group and each went solo for a while with much less success and then in the end getting back together. I think Robin wrote this song based on his own experience with this unsuccessful venture ("Hurting my head from things I had said" for example).
A shame you didn't do a version of this songs when he was younger with a more powerful voice. This was pretty much Robin's song. He said the melody and idea came to him listening to the engines of a plane over Germany. Robin was always thought to be a loner and said he had trouble communicating with people so often felt misunderstood but his lyrics showed he could express himself very well. This song was so personal that he wanted it played at his funeral. Bodyguard, Juliet (Live in Berlin), Black Diamond, Rings around the moon, Ellan Vannin with the King's College Choir, Country Lanes, all show many different sides of his voice. May I please request "Juliet" Live in Berlin in 1991. ruclips.net/video/M_sRg_M7qVY/видео.html
Darn it Q, now I've got Juliet stuck in my head, not that it's a bad thing. Great suggestions, I suggested them as well. Cause great minds (or RG fans) think alike?😄
Great choice again. Did you really not know it? One of my favourite Bee Gees song. Robin's voice is best in this. Another song of this kind is "Words".
@@generationgapreacts Words is lead by Barry. There are a couple of videos of Robin singing "Words" while touring solo after Maurice passed, but it is considered to be Barry's song. Robin usually took a break when they sang it in concerts, although there are some live versions where they added 3 part harmony in the last chorus. I think "I Can't See Nobody" is one of Robin's most lyrically beautiful songs, and the version he sings on the Midnight Special pours his heart and soul into it. ruclips.net/video/ZYO4KQ4s0II/видео.html

This song was used at his own funeral. That is very moving too!
One of the finest voices of his generation. Pure and unique.
