He didn't leave her "standing on the road"; he "left her standing on her own".
My new Bee Gee favorite is Mr. Natural.
I play this song every time I drive back to Massachusetts to visit relatives being from Boston
Mo said no one can sing a sad song like Robin,. On I. Started a joke. 👍👍💔💔💔
Robin’s voice was so full vulnerability and emotion. It was just uniquely mesmerizing. ❤
Come on, Daughter, Robin's voice gets to everybody who's got ears!.. It is otherworldly, a heaven-sent thing that was one of a kind...
This takes me way back. I was 15 and trying to understand the meaning of the lyrics, when my big brother Fred said don't bother, just enjoy it.
Best advice I ever got from anybody.
BEE GEES FOREVER. R I P Robin and Maurice
Classic Bee gees
Bee Gees are Massachusetts Royalty. I Started a Joke is another classic by Robin.
Nice you must hear the Lovesong ..Hold me..from Barry Gibb .i'm always crying ..
They were actually in New York when they wrote this. She wasn't left on the road, lol, she was left on her own.
My favorite ever song…..period….. the fact that The Bee Gees sang it was just a bonus👍
You ladies would absolutely love blue island
Tears are from the raw emotion of things so beautiful.
I love everything from The Bee Gees but especially when Robin sings lead, definitely listen to I Started A Joke
You are a tender hearted, lovely person I think. And very beautiful I might add.
Massachusetts is a great song from Robin,
Great reaction.
Robins voice is haunting. You will love his Dont Fall in love with me
A beautiful song!❤
Their 1st #1. Mo said they found out it had gone to #1 while on a revolving stage just about to do a show. He said they were so excited they did the worst show ever.
Bee gees
Dogs 🐕
Is an amazing song from the Mr Natural album in 1974
I love the older Bee Gees music.
A classic by any standard. The songwriting, arrangement performance, oh my goodness!! Robin is wonderful at tugging the heartstrings. The harmonies are drop dead gorgeous live.
I love Robin's solos. There is always a nostalgic, touching undertow to his voice. Thank you ladies. 🙏☮❤
I'm not surprised "Massachusetts" received so many requests. It is classic 1960's Bee Gees. It's always great to hear Robin sing lead on Bee Gees songs. He also had a great voice. He just didn't sing lead on as many Bee Gees songs as Barry did. A great reaction and I'm glad you continue to discover what a great voice that Robin had, which sometimes gets overlooked because Barry is considered one of the greatest falsetto singers of all-time.
Thank you Stephen! I couldn’t have said it better! 😃
Being from Massachusetts, I always play this song when driving back there to visit relatives
I love your dauthter every time she is crying with the music of the bee gees.....is so emotive....i love it
Another Favorite BeeGees song! Love this one!
I was a big, big fan of the Bee Gees in the 60s, and fell behind a bit in the 70s and the disco age. I eventually came around and I love all their music now. But to me, their golden years were the 60s.
"He already looks good." 😂 Yes he does Mama! 👍
The emotion in Robin's voice would make me cry even if he sang the dictionary. Love that voice!
1968. I'm 20, riding in my MGB through the towns of western Massachusetts. The sun is going down. This amazing Bee Gees song comes on the radio. That was me. The song totally blew my mind. It still does.
Robins voice is a velvet vibratto.
I love that they added that powerful ending.
Fantastic reaction like always! When Robin and Barry sing at the same time it sounds like it’s just one voice only richer. Then Maurice joins in and it’s harmonizing at its best. I tear up a lot when I listen to The Bee Gees and I think it’s because their voices echo the feelings of the beautiful lyrics they wrote. The Bee Gees are just about the only performers that touch my very soul.
Hi Angelina, very well said. I couldn’t agree more. 😊
I think the word you were looking for for Robins voice is haunting. When I first heard him sing, I've gotta get a message to you, in 1968 all I could think of was how haunting and different he sounded, nice reaction 😊👍
It's Robin's voice! It's very melancholic!
...guys - you need to watch their live concert 1997 in Las Vegas: "One Night Only" - this is one of their last big concerts before first Maurice (2003) and then Robin (2012) died... and to me (born 1956 and followed their whole career) this has by far the best versions of almost all of their songs... they poured everything into it, almost like knowing that their time is running out... even if you won't do it on your channel, watch it... and have plenty of tissues ready for use... Bee Gees never have been better - this was their absolute peak!!! :)
Hey Daughter.. You cry coz they touch your soul. ❤
I got to see the boys perform in Calgary in 1974, and they really did sound that good live. They put on a fantastic show.
I love Robin voice
Nice reaction! Another great Robin song...I Started a Joke.
Already did it👍!
That was live in Australia the country they grew up in & Barry still calls his home
I love these two! Great reaction channel. Robin is my favorite of the Beegees. Voice of an angel.
Hello, nice to see you together again, and thank for this great reaction to one if my favourite songs of BeeGees
"Massachusetts" was their first #1 in UK Official Charts 1967 (the year of "Sgt Pepper" iconic album by BEATLES)
This is the earliest Bee Gees song, with beautiful ballad pop like this
"Massachusetts" is so simply but so beautiful too, and Robin shine with his unique voice and sensitive feeling
Robin Gibb's voice is beautifully vulnerable and he knows how to convey the deepest feelings with his face and gestures.
it is a very similar case to that of the blonde singer Agnetha Fältskog in the ABBA songs
Her fragile and melancholic voice is ideal for interpreting the most heartbreaking songs, to which She contributes with her great gestures and her high quality as a storyteller.
that's why in my opinion the voices of Robin Gibb and Agnetha Fältskog are in my Top5 of the best voices in rock and pop music
(with Karen Carpenter, Freddy Mercury
and Paul McCartney)
I return to "Massachusetts"
Is in my Top 5 of all BEE GEES songs:
Massachusetts (1967)
Lamplight (1969)
My world (1972)
Mr Natural (1974)
Nights on Broadway (1975)
I request to their most underrated song:
"Mr Natural"
if you like "Fanny (be tender with my love)" and "Nights on Broadway", I hope that enjoy with this song just a year before, the song (and album) in wich Bee Gees change your music style
GOD bless you
Best regards from

Robin is incredible! The thing that gets you is the vulnerability and sincerity that comes through in his voice.
They were playing this at top of the pops in London and it is where Barry met his future wife Linda. Mo said Robin has the voice that touches your heart.
Early Bee Gees long before disco was thought of.
Thank you for the song x
You young ladies have wonderful reactions.
The song was written in the Regis Hotel, New York City during a tour of the United States. The song was intended as an antithesis to flower power anthems of the time such as "Let's Go to San Francisco" and "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" in that the protagonist had been to San Francisco to join the hippies but was now homesick. The idea of the lights having gone out in Massachusetts was to suggest that everyone had gone to San Francisco.
The song was originally intended for The Seekers. Upon arriving in London from Australia (following in the path of the Seekers, who had arrived several years earlier) the Bee Gees had been unsuccessful in getting the song to the group, so they recorded it themselves. During a chance meeting in London between the Seekers' lead singer Judith Durham and Maurice Gibb, Durham learned that "Massachusetts" was originally intended for her group and in 2003 the Seekers recorded the song as a tribute to Maurice following his death earlier that year.
Beautiful song . What a beautiful relationship ye both have with each other I love your reactions 👌👍
Thank you Eva! That's so nice of you :)
Please review " Sacred Trust " Bee Gee's
LOVE Mo's high harmonies here, and he is so cute! Robin's voice is fabulous here! During another song in this same concert from 1989 Australia, Mo dances while playing guitar across the stage from another guitar player, lol!! Try Just in Case, the making of, very good song and very informative!
Barry gets all of the attention with his vocals but when you hear Robin going solo like this and I Started A Joke and the solo in How Can You Mend it makes you even more interested in the Bee Gees ..Maurice has some solo songs on his own back in 1970 , check them out not as a reaction but to hear him on his on time .. MAURICE GIBB - Railroad 1970
Thank you! I'd love to hear Maurice's solo tracks
@@generationgapreacts-- The Loner (Collective Works of Maurice Gibb 1969-1970) ----- Paste that in and it will have a play list of a dozen songs ..Thanks for the reply ,,I hope you enjoy it .. THANKSXX
@@generationgapreacts If you want to hear Maurice's solos, listen to Man in the Middle and Closer than Close.
Oh Robin - incomparable!
Two beautiful ladies
The Bee Gees music is timeless. Winds of Change is another great song.
"The Bee Gees - Massachusetts" For me the Bee Gees "Number one song" 💯
The song is written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb and released in 1967.
Robin Gibb sang lead vocals on this song and it would become one of his staple
songs to perform during both The Bee Gees concerts and his solo appearances.
The song later appeared on their 1968 album "Horizontal".
The song became the first of the groups five No.1 hits in the UK Singles Chart, and
reached No.1 in twelve other countries, peaked at No.11 on the US Billboard Hot 100,
and sold over five million copies worldwide.
Suggestion: "The Seekers - Massachusetts" Great cover version.👍
Thanks Generation Gap! For an amazing reaction video!🙂
Love so Right is a great track. Check it out !
Don't worry about the tears, Three point harmonies do that to me too.
One of the best robin gibb voice
The Bee Gees have been favorites of mine forever. I'm 67 & as soon as I could play guitar, I learned their songs. Most are so melancholy & they break your heart. Their voices are amazing. No one compares. 1941 MINING DISASTER is another great one that doesn't get much attention.
If you want to hear the ultimate vulnerability of Robin's voice - delicate, while powerful - then react to the Bee Gees' haunting song, "Heart Like Mine." Very few other reactors have done this song because they've never heard of it. Mine is probably the only request, for the same reason - your audience doesn't know about it. It's different. You'll love it, and yes, it could bring another tear or two.
Great choice. Also Country Lanes.
Another song showcasing Robin's vulnerable voice is "And The Sun Will Shine" from 1968. When he recorded it as a preliminary improv, it was so stunning, they knew they'd never be able to capture that sound and feeling again, so they used that take on the final track.
All of the suggestions, "Heart like mine", "Country Lanes", "And the sun will shine" are great. Just the tip of the ice berg. Throw in "Black Diamond", "Please", "Saved by the bell", "Days of wine and roses", "Don't cry alone", "Ellan Vannin" with the King's College Choir or his McCartney cover of "Oh Darling" to name a few. "When do I" shows more of his range.
@@susieq9801 you home now Q?!
Lindo!Lindo demais❤❤❤💪💪🇧🇷 que voz lindíssima de Robin!!👋👋👋👋
My first Beegees song I learned to play on the drums.
brilliant song and reaction! please consider reacting to their medley from this concert as well! cant wait for you guys to experience the bee gees just singing around the same microphone in perfect harmony :)
Yes! Melbourne 89 is my favourite . Watch the DVD often.
@@Zlata1313 nice! love that concert so much!
@@scenesroland3424 - The medley with just Barry's acoustic guitar and the three around the same mic shows their versatility of styles and allows each to shine. It reminds me of their early simple days of just three beautiful voices with no need for embellishment.
From the Bee Gees album Horizontal, 1968
Great reaction to an absolutely fantastic song and performance. Robin sounds so amazing here, and when Barry and Mo join in, it is another level. Bonus is they all look so good in this concert, too!.
By playing and singing live, they were setting standards on a very high level. And when Baz'n Rob sang in unision, it's just wonderful at all. Mo fullfilling perfect three-part-harmony as always. Soloparts of Robin were like beautiful pearls. Fourtimes in my life (between 1968 and 1992), I had the pleasure to visit liveconcerts of them. Most leadvocals were sung by Barry, bringing in more of dynamic and power as also soft ballads. The leads of Robin were special moments, so he's been personified Mr. Blue-Eyed-Soul. And never let's forget the glue between them, Maurice. So check him out with 'Man In The Middle', live to find in YT on several performances.
I recall vividly hearing this song back in 1968 when I was stationed overseas. I'm from Pennsylvania but it still made me feel homesick every time I heard it. When I got discharged I moved to the San Francisco bay area to attend college and they mention S.F. in this song. I like this live performance more than the original recording. Thanks for reacting to it. Take care.
one more comment
I recently related the voice of Robin Gibb with that of Agnetha Fältskog
I haven't seen them do reactions to ABBA songs in a long time
I followed them in four:
Dancing Queen, Waterloo, S.O.S , Fernando
but in the playlist it says there are seven, but three are hidden
is there any reason why apparently three ABBA videos are not available?
or blocked it for rights or any complaint?
hopefully you can unlock the lock and continue watching them with ABBA songs too
What you are watching is video from the 1989 "One for All" concert in Melbourne. Robin was wonderful, as you can hear. The brothers talked about the impetus for this song in interviews. They wanted it to be a "coming home" song. If you think about the 1968 "summer of love," this was supposed to be the antithesis to the call for young people to come to San Francisco. It was about leaving that behind and coming home (in this case to Massachusetts). This particular concert is brothers at their best. All of it is magnificent.
Well said. Pleased that i read this before I explained about the reverse exodus to San Francisco.
Brilliant
We will never see the likes of this ever again.
A fun Robin song is Juliet. Love it!
Worth noting that it was written just a couple of years after a massive power outage in the NE United States and Canada (including of course Massachusetts)
I always think it’s funny, that Robin, who wrote this song at his home in Thame,England, said he’d never been to Massachusetts, and had no plans to go.
Bet they did,though.
Another Splendid presentation. Amen! So good to see such family chemistry and interaction. What smoothness in this
song. I remember. (>> Maybe future: Mike and The Mechanics - The Living Years'?) Thanks again for this!
You guys are great. My wife and I just found you!
Hi Bob, thank you for you support. Hello to your wife. 😊
According to Barry this was their take on the anti flowerpower ....everyone was talking about going to San Francisco......so they wanted to sing about returning home from San Francisco....
.
You girls are a blessing to watch, I feel about the Bee Gees the same way you do. A great and absolutely beautiful ballot that Robin leads on is Don't fall in love with me Baby....you will love it. It is a beautiful song and has a wonderful chorus. You girls are so sweet!
there's a version where they are all sitting on stools and Barry along with Maurice are playing acoustic guitars
They originally wrote this for The Seekers but couldn’t get it to them, so recorded it themselves.
Another great reaction, girls!! As much as you (& we!) LOVE their harmonies....a great one showcasing them is Heartbreaker🎼!! It was a big hit for Dionne Warwick in '82 (Whitney Houston's 1st cousin)....then later the Bee Gees also recorded it🎤!!
Great suggestion! Thank you as well for joining the livestream
While extremely difficult to top but the other great export from down under, The Seekers recording of Massachusetts manages to do exactly that.
A wonderful orchestration by them and as for Judith Durham’s singing it just fabulous as always.
The Bee Bees originally wrote this song for the Seekers, but really struggled to get the song to them, and so recorded the song themselves ..... a massive hit for them.
Eventually though the Seekers DID record it, and, as you would expect, made a terrific job of it themselves.
I particularly love the early Bee Gees songs, but I accidentally came across a number performed by Robin in 1985, Like A Fool and fell in love with this song….check it out!
Great reaction ladies as always! One of my favorite Robin leads. I've been with these amazing men since the beginning back in 1967 and I wasn't a baby back then eitherl. Lol 😂 And the twins were still teenagers when they recorded it. Which reminds me how close we were to losing our precious Robin right after this song hit no.1. Robin himself attributed the song reaching no.1 as what saved him and his "soon to be" wife Molly from being killed in the Hither Green train disaster on November 6th, 1967. Because the song hit no.1 he was able to afford first class tickets and that's what saved them from being killed or seriously injured. Thank God for intervening that day for the Bee Gees were able to continue recording all that beautiful music and we weren't deprived of that wonderful and unique voice of Robin's. Looking forward to what's next ("Bodyguard", pretty please?) and just love your reactions ladies!
Yes, he said that experience changed him forever, what horrors he saw at the scene trying to save others and afterwards at the hospital. It's why he became such a sensitive, generous and driven man.
Always loved this song ❤️
What a great reaction ladies, to me they have the best voices in music.
Hi girls. I hope you pick this up. There s a Bee Gees song that I feel is overlooked. It was released in the 70's I seem to remember it not doing so well. I don't even know if YOU guys have covered it, I've not looked. It makes me cry everytime, I guarantee it will do the same to you. It's title : Run to Me.
I recommend giving ‘I Will’ and ‘ Run to Me’
I want to thank you both for sparking my increased appreciation for the BGs. I have always liked the BGs. I was in high school when they started their disco phase. I love and appreciate their stellar vocals and harmony. I discovered there is a Gibb sister. Her name is Lesley Gibb. She is She used to sing with a guy by the name of Ian Macleod. I also discovered a duet that Barry recently sung with his niece, Maurice’s daughter. This was when Barry recently went out on his own several years after Robin passing.
As a huge Bee Gees fan I love that you do songs that are not always the big hits in your reactions, like "Closer than Close" and "For Whom The Bell Tolls".
PLEASE PLEASE DO EITHER "BODYGUARD", "ANGELA" AND "SOMEONE BELONGING TO SOMEONE".
Off cam try listening to robin doing one of his songs called Hold On To My LOve, he gave the song to Jimmy Ruffin who had the hit with it...... love you inside and out is another bee gee favourite of mine but no video for it
always preferred Robin's voice.
Now the next one with Robin is "I Started a Joke".
It's been done👍!
Check out, I can’t see nobody, the Australian concert…fantastic. Robin lead
YAY! Thank you, thank you beautiful ladies. I've been waiting for this one; I love how emotional you get when you truly feel the music (daughter). Sorry I don't know your names yet, but you are adorable 😊. -Joni
Robin's voice is something that it is very hard to forget. "Sassy and spicy..." please elaborate a little bit more :)
Please react to Love You Inside Out, You and I (Barry natural voice you will enjoy)!
Robin had the best voice of the 3 brothers. You need to listen to his song I Started a Joke
Actually have the original Vinyl LP with this on😎🤗❤️🇧🇻
