Certainly not like the Bee Gees because they have a unique sound. Yet, Home Free has as good and seemingly effortless vocals; five vocalists instead of merely three.
This was actually the first take they did. It was supposed to be a practice run, but sounded as close to perfect as Barry wanted, so they said "This is the one."
Three guys and 1 microphone...no autotune...digital wizardry...just their amazing vocal harmonies and a small orchestra...one of the greatest love songs written...great concept for a channel ladies...new sub here looking forward to diving in to your reactions
They have such incredible vocal harmonies. It's certainly one of their very best songs. During the disco era, their 2 most popular ballads are Too Much Heaven and How Deep Is Your Love. Both songs went to #1 on the pop charts.
Earlier on the, very same day, they were in a different recording studio, in a different location, they were recording a song, that they, had wrote for, their younger brother Andy, they got andy song record, and they left that recording studio, went to this recording studio, where they had a orchestra waiting, and they got this song done, on the very first. Take !
With all due respect singing harmony isn't inherently difficult if you are musically inclined. Once I put my mind to it as a teenager and practiced diligently it became quite natural. Of course you have to have a good ear and pay close attention. ✌
Many musicians, especially back in the day, did not want to explain their lyrics and music because they wanted people to embrace their own meaning to the song. It is what makes reaction videos fun and interesting because you can connect with so many people who have a unique viewpoint.
Thank you for your great reaction. This is certainly a beautiful song and their harmonies are out of this world. You are correct, they are beautiful men. What can I say...Barry and his fabulous falsetto self is in a league a his own. The brothers were such generous and humble men.
the passion in their voices (especially Barry's) make the lyrics so much more meaningful. The "love songs" your mom grew up listening to, by so many artists, you will never hear in todays music world. In todays world, even during live performances, computers and other software gizmos are used to enhance imperfections in the tone/range/and quality. Not here. Especially if you go back to early-mid-6o's. no auto tune and such - just TALENT! If you haven't, catch the live performances of The Righteous Brothers.
That is actually the original live recording of the song. Near the end, if you look way in the back, you can see the people in the sound booth. This recording studio was huge. A full symphony with all the instruments, guitars, furniture, plants. WHAT? That's the kind of attention you command when you are the BEEGEEs. Loved your reaction to the video. 👍👍❤❤
One of my very favorite songs by the Bee Gees. So beautiful. Thanks for doing this! And yes they do look really good! Love Barry's voice and the harmonies are spectacular! Love Robin and Maurice in this, too. Robin's grin and hands on his hips, and Mo's glances at Barry while he is doing his solo parts. So awesome. Love how you got the increase in the "too" in the 2nd part of the song. Great reaction!
That’s so true! Love how they all glance at each other while singing, they love each other. Especially Maurice while the others are singing. They are incredible to watch
Watch some of their live performances to really see some of their fun interactions on stage. In particular, when they do a medley of their older songs. They are quite funny, especially Mo.

....and be sure to notice the scars on Barry’s chest from when he tugged on a table cloth as a toddler and pulled a boiling hot tea pot onto himself. His mom said he was given 20 minutes to live, but survived. She said he would hardly speak until around the same time the twins started talking, but he always had a song for anyone who asked!
The UNICEF story. While on a world tour the brothers met some people from UNICEF. They were asked to visit a children's hospital. They met a girl there who was on a transplant list. It was an operation that her parents could not afford. The brothers agreed too pay for it, however the girl lost the fight before a donor was found. So this song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
The utterly fantastic Brothers Gibb or “Bee Gee’s” as they are more commonly known . . never in the world of music has humanity come accross such a talented family but it’s also sad to think that Barry (the lead singer) is now the only surving brother of the brothers Gibb as his other three younger siblings have passed away.
Lordy, those harmones ARE too much heaven. Probably the best vocal harmonies ever recorded. And Barry's ad libs and falsetto are off the freaking chart.
Love the Bee Gees they are the best group ever. These brothers are so talented and humble. I have been privileged to have listened to them all my life. Great reaction!!

The Bee Gees are the only group that had #1 songs on the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Unforetunately the oldest Barry is the only one alive today. All 3 of his brothers have died.
That was actually the live studio recording of the song! What an amazing studio! Full orchestra, furniture, plants, vocal equipment? What?! When you are on top, like they were at the time, they could set the venue for any of their performances. Barry has the best falsetto voice ever in my opinion. So smooth, crisp, and clear! The Bee Gees had been singing together since they were children and had many years to perfect their harmonies. Barry didn't always use a falsetto. Check out some of their many earlier hits like "To Love Somebody" "New York Mining Disaster, 1941", "Words" or anything off their "Odessa" album. Barry has been married to his wife, Linda, for 52 years and she has been the inspiration for many of his love songs. Some muse!

I had the great pleasure to Play supporting Group to the Bee Gees in 1968 in Selkirk Scotland. A Wonderful evening !! Alan Duncanson, singer in the Scottish band The State Property!!!
Great song, obviously. I’d known this song since it came out, late 70s or so, but I hadn’t seen this video until last year… and what really shocked me was seeing that this was a live take with orchestra. I mean, even in the 60s there was overdubbing, doubling up vocals, and certainly my expectation was that the orchestra did its thing, then the Brothers Gibb hit the studio to run a few takes, perhaps on separate tracks, until they got it perfect… but this was all done at once, no dubs, real time magic… this impressed me so much more than simply hearing the end result back in the day!! Just incredible!!
The last reliable tally I saw was posted on the Bee Gees Twitter account, May 17, 2017, saying UNICEF had received about $11 million from it (so, it's surely raised more since then). I’ve seen others post it hit 20 million as of 2019, but I haven’t found a solid source for that. Barry included the song on his 2021 hit album, Greenfields, so that (duet with Alison Krauss) will bring UNICEF even more $$.
They grew up near me and people who knew then when they were kids said the mum would drill think in singing techniques constantly.... Guess it paid off!
I just found your page. I enjoy watching younger generations listen to and react to music from my time. I am younger than Barry, but I am a senior. The Bee Gees will forever be at the top as far as writing and performing. Those years the talent was raw. I can honestly say that looking back (especially this song) reminds me why I was so into them. Also, I have to admit that Barry was sexy!
I remember the exact time and place I bought "Spirits." It meant so much to me then and now. The layers of harmony are beyond outstanding in "Too Much Heaven." The lyrics are beautiful and the brothers have the natural instinct to use melody shapes to go with how you picture the words. They are all wonderful vocalists, as you can see, but Barry really shines in this one.
A great song to hear their individual voices is Nights on Broadway live in midnight special show. Pre disco , post breakup. This was them changing toward r&b
Pretty amazing. I take back any thing I probably said as a young kid in the 70’s. I’m sure I was just jealous. 😉 love these guys more and more every day. Thanks for posting. They don’t have any bad songs!
Okay so check this out ladies, the group the Bee Gees were brothers. All 3 brothers have falsetto range which made them that more talented. The Bee Gees have been recording as a group since the early 60's. The group became even more popular in the 70's. Their music could easily stand up today in rotation on most Radio stations. Sadly, Barry Gibb the lead singer is the only brother still alive. The youngest brother Andy Gibb not in the group, but a great solo artist in his own right passed away first. Maurice Gibb passed away then Robin Gibb passed away leaving only Barry and his sister Leslie.
There is no music today that can compare to the music of that Era, because the singers of today rely on to much technology to sound good, like outotune these guys were some of the best
Another song, & video, in a similar style, with a live orchestra, & well worth watching, is the legendary Robert Palmer, singing his own composition, 'She makes my day'. It's probably one of the most romantic love songs ever written, & I defy any woman to try and say they wouldn't like it sung to them!!
Also, hopefully you were able to watch the HBO documentary about the Bee Gees. It came out a year ago. It was absolutely outstanding. And I have seen many many documentaries about them. This was the best one though.
I'm a widowed mom with four boys 25-35, & wish they were as open to listening to the Bee Gees as your daughter😔! They're still stuck in the rut like so many that age group, thinking all their music is disco🕺. As Barry has said so many times, they're "the enigma with a stigma".
This song is as close to perfection as you can get! ❤

I love this so much. And I love watching your reactions, they are the same as mine. Barry is just flawless. What a heart throb ❤
Coming from an instrumentalist, it doesn't get much better than this.
I am surprised this is not a Valentine Day's song together with How Deep is your love.
I feel my heart tighten knowing what will happen to these girls.
Have watched all your Bee Gees reactions and love how you really appreciate them. They are the best British export.
Can't believe you haven't done you should be dancing yet best disco song ever and if you love Robins voice do saved by the bell beautiful
Pretty amazing. I take back any thing I probably said as a young kid in the 70’s. I’m sure I was just jealous. 😉 love these guys more and more every day. Thanks for posting. They don’t have any bad songs!
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. And you two ladies are stunning and fun to watch
They had a much younger brother, Andy, who had a very successful career himself, until his tragic death, at the young age of 30.
RIP Gibb brothers Andy, Maurice, and Robin
There is no music today that can compare to the music of that Era, because the singers of today rely on to much technology to sound good, like outotune these guys were some of the best
Barry absolutely LOVEs love songs. He is partial to them. Btw, they wrote all of their own songs. I don’t know of any artist today that does that.
They are incredible singers and song writers
The daughter is super duper beautiful.
My favorite Bee Gees is the early ones before the disco.
Sometimes live music is like the difference between experiencing the Grand Canyon live and just photo.
Also, hopefully you were able to watch the HBO documentary about the Bee Gees. It came out a year ago. It was absolutely outstanding. And I have seen many many documentaries about them. This was the best one though.
Yes, the ladies love Barry. I was 18 when this song came out
I'm a widowed mom with four boys 25-35, & wish they were as open to listening to the Bee Gees as your daughter😔! They're still stuck in the rut like so many that age group, thinking all their music is disco🕺. As Barry has said so many times, they're "the enigma with a stigma".
Hopefully someday they will be more open to listen!
Love you two! Reactions are great
foreigner, i want to know what love is. Is a must 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
