I can play the hard first bit now
Am struggling with where it drops down to the A 1st string 5th fret. Now this bit seems impossible lol

@@richardmiller3998don’t give up, it’s doable even with small hands, if you can manage to stretch the first chord you should be able to do the rest
Your fingers start to adjust (stretch/adapt) after awhile.

I got so confused when I first heard it 😂
Im a "young one" relatively speaking and i had to look up what Lucid Dreams is. I got out of hiphop around the time Chance The Rapper became mainstream and Kendrick started to fall off. I was burned out by hiphop even before then, now im waiting for someone really creative to come along and change what hiphop is. I thought Death Grips would rattle enough cages but it seems like Death Grips didnt have as much influence over mainstream music as i thought it would (shocking that labels/producers arent listening to the underground like they use to pre-2000s). Today Its just mediocre hip-pop with manufactured outrage and lyrics which have NOTHING of subsistence to say, no innovation, no risky moves, no complexity or unusual chord movements, no no no you get nothing.
And of course im talking about mainstream music, there still exists great artists but good luck finding them!

The chord at 9:06 is much easier to play if you use the open D string instead of fretting the D at the 5th fret on the A string i.e x x 0 4 7 5 rather than x 5 x 4 7 5. Also the difficult stretch on the first chord is easier to play as x x 4 2 2 5 rather than x 9 7 6 10 x - Maybe not elegant but eh I don't have those spidery fingers to do a proper job of this - but I'm not bad at finding a compromise ;) Should have added - a great lesson as usual Marty ;)

For the first chord substitute, which your saying to play as x-x-4-2-2-5, ho would you play the descending chord half steps and whole steps with that fingering position, like when you’re going down from the original x-9-7-6-10-x? I’m curious to know. Thanks.

One of my favorite childhood songs by the greats, sting and Dominic Miller.
Your explanations are always slow enough and point, for me to follow. I don't know ANY theory at all and are basically self taught to the point I am, which isn't really good at all, but I enjoy playing and that's all that counts. Another thing I really love about your lessons is that you're not completely perfect when playing. There are some inaccuracies, which I think is beautiful that you keep in there, it actually teaches me that it doesn't have to sound like a machine, to sound awesome. Thanks for your hard work man, I've been discouraged SO many times, trying to learn this, but now I'm a week in, and can almost play those two first parts, pretty well. I wish I had more time to practice! :D
