@@stoneloc8979 That's true. But it is also true that prosecutors (and their own investigators) need to force them to change by looking into and prosecuting crimes.
@@MesoCarib Prosecutor's don't have no other authority over the police unless the cop is being indicted. Now a prosecutor can let a cop off who's been indicated over a crime just like how Fannie the mammie Willis did for the cop that shot Rayshard Brooks and she'll never be forgiven for that but other than that a cop has to be indicted first because citizens complaints and a few mess up's aren't enough to get the job done.

The cops being investigated would harass and threaten those citizens and (being citizens) they wouldn't know how to handle it. IA agents are also police officers and they'd know how to handle threats and such.

@@vegasjeff2126Yes, they should lose qualified immunity and the money should come from the officer. But, the officer should be insured so people actually get what they deserve. And they STILL will not admit wrongdoing in the wrongful arrest of that woman. Speaks volumes to their character as well as keeping a terrible cop on the payroll.
The video from the gas station had no audio. Police believe she was an accomplice, Ms. Wilson said she was a good samaritan. The judge happened to agree with the woman. It was a she said/he said situation until the judge made his ruling.
@athletico7707 At one time, every convicted criminal had no criminal record. I'm not sure why you have raised that question. Section 750.535 of the MCL states: (1) A person shall not buy, receive, possess, conceal, or aid in the concealment of stolen, embezzled, or converted money, goods, or property knowing, or having reason to know or reason to believe, that the money, goods, or property is stolen, embezzled, or converted. Again the statue requires "knowing, or having reason to know or reason to believe." without audio to the accompanying video, Police investigators believed she was an accomplice, the woman argued she was a good samaritan. Judge Cusick made the final ruling.
@athletico7707 Again ALL individuals who are convicted of crimes, at some point within their lives failed to have prior convictions or a criminal history. Lack of criminal history, age or employment status have no definitive bearing on predicting future behavior. Also I'm not certain where the assumption Ms. Wilson had nor prior conviction arises. You've suggested: "The police had no evidence that she had reason to believe the card was stolen." The publicly viewable facts displayed Ms Wilson in possession of stolen property. Ms. Wilson did physically pass the stolen property to another individual inside of the motor vehicle. The possession/transference is clearly distinguishable within the video. Ms. Wilsons actions within and outside the gas station indeed provides enough "probable cause" to conduct a lawful arrest under MCL 750.535. What a individual "believes" or assumes to be lawful/un-lawful has no bearing on a "probable cause" arrest. "Totality of Circumstances," is what's uncovered during the prosecuting investigation. As for the investigative portion of the incident, I'll reasonably assume you nor I have been made privy to any official documents, so I'll refrain from debating the the judges ruling. However, as the news report suggested DPD continues to contend Ms. Wilson arrest was lawful, and that she was an accomplice.
So it's okay for him to ruin someone's life who was trying to do a good deed because he's suddenly no longer an out of control drunk? I feel great sadness for the people of Detroit being policed by these low bar maniacs.

The video from the gas station had no audio. Police believe she was an accomplice, Ms. Wilson said she was a good samaritan. The judge happened to agree with the woman. It was a she said/he said situation until the judge made his ruling.
The judge should have used harsher words..... this is a criminal with a badge.....the lowest
A thug, is a thug, is a thug. No matter race or title they hold.
You've suggested: "The police had no evidence that she had reason to believe the card was stolen."
The publicly viewable facts displayed Ms Wilson in possession of stolen property.

They break many a Law, that they will throw at you in a blink of an eye, they lie and justify their criminal actions,
There is a list that these so called, law breakers are meant to be on, only they aren't placed on it, so they can go from one station to another.
At what point, are these criminals held accountable, as when your breaking Laws, no matter who you are, there should be actions taken against you, not this one justice to you and another towards the people in Blue.
It’s promising that after over 20 years he might learn the law, if he was a doctor you could say don’t worry about the deaths he will soon be a good doctor it’s promising.
This is the American police culture. If you work in the private sector and you get 3 or 4 customer complaints that are found to be true, you get fired. 61 complaints in addition to leaving the scene of an accident which is a criminal offense and he is still employed? That’s absurd. And it’s not only Detroit, it is every single law enforcement agency in this country.
Something needs to be done.
The wrong person spent time in jail. Let Sandra cuff him. That's the only justice that could be found here. Bless you Sandra Willson, you don't deserve to be treated like this, you deserve justice. Power and strength to you ✊🏽💜
the citizens of Detroit will pay big time for DPD's willingness to cover up the bad deeds of this bad cop
I remember this story I am so Glad this Lawsuit is going. The fact that they still won't admit that they were dead ass wrong...is CRAZY.
Once again:
It's Never the First time
There is always a pattern
They are always Allowed to Escalate.
No one with a domestic abuse conviction, should be allowed to carry a gun, let alone a badge.
Nobody with a domestic abuse conviction is allowed to carry a gun. Cops just break the law.
Be thankful we live during these times. This happened to people every single day, police got away with everything they’ve done, but now we actually have a better chance to be cleared of being falsely convicted. If we didn’t have cameras and technology to help ordinary citizens, there’d be no chance of ever proving your innocence.
If he left the scene of an accident before he could be tested for drugs and alcohol, that’s immediately an admission of guilt. Especially being his second wreck.
They're waiting for him to kill someone before they (barely) take action. With all that he's done, he better hope the streets don't take his face off.
Waiting? They defend people like this because they're already "blooded in" there's more active gangs within police forces than there typically are in the civilian population of the cities they serve in. Complete with violent initiation rites.
George Zimmerman like 😎
The longer you let out of control cops stay on the payroll the more brazen they become with their out of control thuggish behavior.
The judge in this case should be commended for his action we need more brave judges like him.👮♂️👨⚖️🇺🇸🤔
We need more thugish police, considering how these thugs behave in the streets and keep the whole neighborhoods in disarray.
That's why they're poor, dirty and disorganized, not racism.
POLICE TERRORISM Federal law enforcement agencies also engage in physical and psychological terrorism against BP. Nothing will happen. They all see BP as less than that can be mistreated without accountability, responsibility, and repacurssion. It's absolutely shameful. The entire system is a facade that lacks integrity to deliver adequate and fair policing to the people. This is NOT a democracy or a constitution republic but rather a VICIOUS DRACONIAN VIOLENT TERRORISTIC SYSTEM DESIGNED to create and perpetuate mass criminalization, mass incarceration, extortion, enslavement, retaliatory policing and injustice and intimidation of BP. These incompetent fools in uniform are nothing but domestic terrorism. They lack respect for the laws and constitution rights of BP. They need to follow up this violent situation and not let it go. LITIGATION... They have to find a constitutional LAWYER to respresent them.
I'm surprised to not see his girlfriend being charged with assaulting a police officer for daring to defend herself against him... Am I alone in seeing a real problem with a charge of domestic violence against his _black_ girlfriend pled down to _destruction of property?_
She was an officer as well. He needs to be fired and charged, he should never be an officer antwhere ever again. The top bosses are also part of the problem, this is ridiculous.
She should be fired as well and never let back in any Backyard Barbecue
She's a pig herself so I guess she got the Brotherhood treatment.
Bet that opened her eyes in a brand new way....while he closed them up.🫤
Fire him. He's a liability
Corruption at it's Finest all thanks to Qualified Immunity 🤬
This is a real head scratcher. I'm over here trying my best to come up with a job in the civilian community where one could attain this lengthy a record of misconduct....and NOT be fired. Can't do it. I just can't imagine any line or work....other than a police officer....where an employee would get this many second chances.
Doctors.
@@tobaby375 Police are supposed to be charged with crimes and fired. They aren't. Doctors protect each other just like police with their review boards. Lawsuits are expensive. The police have the city, state, and unions to pay for them. Doctors have insurance, hospitals, and their own salaries to pay for them.
Doctors also convince the public that there are no guarantees in treatment which shields them from responsibility. The majority of their errors are unreported, and they don't self report.
During the height of the covid pandemic thousands of people of color died quickly, and the racism of doctors and healthcare was widely discussed, even though poc had been saying it for years. Just as police abuse had been going on for centuries, but it took videos in the 2010s for the general public to believe itpq00
So no, Baby. I'm not insane, I'm informed.
Judges and politicians.
It's amazing how is department stands by him after numerous incidents.
Welcome to Detroit
Only because the rest of the department is almost certainly as bad as he is.
They called themselves the brother hood meaning it doesn't matter what they do the brother is untouchable and looks out for it's officers
Keeping him employed and out of jail is an insult to us all, and the lawsuits don't hurt the cops because it is tax dollars.
