Thanks for watching!
The fact that you are going to be able to pump out 26-27mpg combined with smart driving on a manual is bonkers on this all around sports car. Can't wait for these to come out in the 6 speed!
amazing right? all thanks to the bmw power train and transmission, giving toyota the best performance beyond their capabilities 🤡
@@adamafifrowigmailcom Still, you are going to vitis the petrol station often. unless you drive like an elderly.
@@adamafifrowigmailcom Just 2j swap your mk5
B58 magic 🪄
I love Z’s but this is the superior car🤷♂️……..Still would buy the Z over the Supra though🤤🙌
"The best BMW on the road is a Toyota." Truer words have never been spoken lol.
pretty much what I tell people when they ask about it; "you can look at it one of two ways: either the best BMW is a Toyota, or the best Toyota is a BMW."
Thanks for the honest and unbiased review! I can’t think of a better sports car for $55k for me that has this much power, great mileage(I get 34mpg freeway) and is unique and causes so much debate. For me the smaller interior makes me feel like I’m part of the car, I love it. On canyon roads it’s unflappable. It’s a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde car. It can be an everyday Gran Tourer, and with the push of the Sport button, become a Tasmanian devil!!
@@bitvasconcelos2031 it doesn’t look nearly as good as the supra though, don’t get me wrong I love it, but supra looks more appealing
@@bitvasconcelos2031 I own a 2021 3.0 Supra and wasn’t even looking at a M240i. IMO, the Supra has waaay more curb appeal and is quite a bit faster at speed.
Hi, just curious is it 55k including tax?
@Ricky Anthony depends where you go. I’m in Canada and one of the dealers I went to had it at 16k over msrp and their reason was “because it’s available today” without ordering one lol. But yet you go down the road to the next dealer and get msrp 🤷🏼
Quick question for this car. Do you think a golf bag can if in this car? I am assuming no but worth a ask.
I feel like I'm in the minority where I disregarded the supra name and bought this car because it felt like what the m2 should be. It has a short wheel base, it's light weight, and has fantastic track performance. The performance for cost is insane, it feels like a pdk 911 minus the amazing flat six sound. I'm truly amazed by the mk5.
Exactly! Right on every point.
That’s what I’m saying man. For the price of the car. And what it gives this is an absolute cop if you can afford
This is literally how my dream car the supra would look if i ever were to buy such beauty same color same interior eeeeverything
Moments like this make me grateful im 5'10" 115lbs.
The only weight savings some drivers can’t make haha
Eat some sandwiches.
I love how you knock the junk off your feet before you enter someone else's car-----------------so very respectful.
Had this exact car 22 in red with minor mods. Put 18K miles on it in 5mo & loved everything about this car. Would still have it today but someone blew through a stop sign & totaled my car :(.
Damn sorry about that G
it's one of my worst fears, so what happened next? how much of the supra's price did you get back from the insurance? i hope there will be a system to sue these kinds of clowns who deliberately cause accidents from sheer negligence and sue them for further damages.
That's the worst, man. Sorry to hear that. Hope you're alright
bro.. hope you're healthy after that.. i got tboned by someone who did the same.. horrible! i was feeling all weird for months.
That sucks!
Dude… I love when you click your shoe soles together FIRST B4 landing into the cockpit… that’s your first signature on vehicles you test. ( many of them, but not all ).
This is such a pretty car in real life, pictures cant do it justice. I would love to own one one day
I think a lot of people are confused why a good percentage of the car community hates this car. Its not because its a BMW. Its because its a Supra name attached to the BMW. Everyone agrees the car is good. Everyone agrees the engine is great and one of the best engines on the market. What makes people hate this car is that this car is literally 99% BMW. The only thing that isn't, literally, is the design, the badge, and tuning of the engine. That's it. People don't hate it because it has a German engine. People hate it because its full of last-gen BMW parts bin stuff. I mean, you get the last gen's iDrive with the BMW chime. Toyota could have honestly retrofitted some nice Lexus interior bits into the Supra, used Japanese electronics, and etc...
i got myself a mk5 3.0 tuned as my daily and a g80 m3 as my secondary while my brother whips a whole m5 cs and a mk5 3.0 supra too
our father bought both of us the mk5 supra fully appreciate my old man
i'm a 197cm(6'4) male and i can fit comfortably inside it, the bmw b58 engine is amazing and the interior reminds me of my m3 icl
Im 16 and got the opportunity to drive this same spec supra. It was a blast:)
This is a great car, thanks for the enlightening review without the typical trash talk. When these are no longer available, people will rave about how the BMW collaboration resulted in one of the best Toyotas of all time! LOL 🙄
No one will rave about this car, there is a few cars with the b58 engine there is nothing really special about it to be honest. I can go on why the car isn’t special but I’m. It I. The mood
I did want one though
@@EazyTheRecon Supra's are really over priced. You can get a equally as good car for like a quarter of the price. I paid 5 grand for my Lancer and after repaint, head light restoration, rims blah blah blah it's still a fraction of the cost of this and it's real JDM. All Japanese parts. The Japanese licence plate is like $500 here, need one of those as well.
@@jhowardsupporter you’re comparing a brand new sports car with a 400hp straight 6 and a butt load of modern tech to a 15-20 year old sports sedan that probably lists an AM/FM radio as it’s flagship luxury feature 😂
@@jhowardsupporter Bruh why are you comparing a new car with a used turd?
Bought the exact same car you test drove. Down to the color and the interior. Car is a fantastic machine. Thanks for reviewing!
what line of work are u in?
I've had mine for about 3 months now and absolutely love it
Update?
@@yzkgdm still love it
Love watching your videos. Especially the really popular vehicles. Very satisfying taking a pov ride in a new car!
Is it supra or ra soup
Exact exterior and interior color combo I’d get👀🤙🏽 edit: absolutely love the savagegeese reference at the end. That was deff a great video for anyone who loves these cars or has the raging urge to argue that one is better than the other
I agree, colour combo is bang on 👌 the only thing I'm struggling with is it looks to me to have red leather on the driver's door but black on the passengers 🤷🤷 I can't work out why and it's irritating me 🤣😂
Really dig the styling of the new generation supra. Also the 3.0 inline six is a great power train for either the manual of DCT.
Loving my 2020 for almost 2 years. Can't wait to see you drive the manual
I have the same car/trim (came from an ND manual Miata Club) except in Absolute Zero and it’s a blast to daily drive around town. I’m really happy it came with the driver assist package because those blind spots are no joke.
Also free fix for wind buffeting: driver side all the way down, passenger side just a crack down
what line of work are u in?
Can’t wait for your take on the manual version!
people acting like its insulting to call it a BMW lol.
Fr😂
I miss my supra but I didn't get the feeling that long term reliability was questionable. and getting in and out was a chore
I moved from a Supra to an m340i. The Supra felt more raw and handled like a champ, but the m340i is a good compromise for a 4 door
Supra - My childhood love ❤️
@@ruhirahman3179 Saving up for a M340i currently, it seems like a great vehicle for around 60k
Least tell us what you got after selling lol
Im about to sell mine too, I am a big dude and getting in and out of the car is a struggle especially for a daily driver
You did a very good job on this one, only thing I wish you would’ve added, was a sound test of the stereo system, and a 0-60. But yeah I was very impressed on how well it did on turns, and it really did hold up against its previous generation. It really shows how well two company’s can come together and create a masterpiece for generations to come. Very good job showing the car, and if I could afford one, and it was an option, I would definitely buy one based off this review alone.
Great comment. Well worded and honest. Good analysis Fonz.
@@dylansanchez3040 I appreciate it
I sat in one and the sound system sucks
@@pain.497 well that’s something that can always be fixed. It’s more about the driving experience. The sound quality of the speakers, are just an additional factor, but take it to a customs shop, spend 150-200, and that problem will be fixed.
@@Visionaryakafonzfoederl Yeah whenever I do get a Supra thats the first upgrade I'd do.
Tried a supra out today on the track for the first time and I fell in love. I'm considering trading in the gr86 manual for a manual supra if it ever lands to the dealer from my order
Love mine and it’s even more fun on the track. Partnering with BMW was Toyota smartest move. Hating on the B58 cause it’s not a Japanese engine lol, when most people probably are driving their Altimas
Agree but when you diss soemone for not having money....you are a tool my guy
Get it right, I drive a corolla! lol
What's an Altima? 😂
On the list for a manual, base 3.0. Got lucky and zero mark up. Fingers crossed the six speed suits the car.
Cue John Travolta looking around the dealership at all the markups so the dealer gets to sell them at a premium
I work at a dealer and we're not sure we're getting a manual so I'm just getting an auto in the new blue. Very excited
@@supersonicz06 the zf8 is far superior. U will be happy
@@carmello000jp It's superior if you don't actually care about maximizing experience and just want to go fast.
I own this car but in black and honestly can’t complain it is such a fun ride and I’m happy I got it. Ty for the honest review
I bought the 22' 2.0, and worried that I will end up wanting more and decide to trade it in for the 3.0. Heard some people liked the 2.0, but more hp does sound fun.
any concerns with the lack of interior features on the 2.0?
@@CharlieC12 I'm not a 100% on what I'm lacking, but what it does have was definitely an improvement from my '13 Civic Si. I was going to wait for the '23 Type R, but dealership hour away had this and so I went an impulse bought it. Have been wanting a Supra for a long time as well.
what line of work are u in
These are growing on me..definitely got my attention a few times I’ve seen them in person.
If the reliability ratings are toyota good I will own one of these in 2025. I think the styling exterior and interior wise are very forward thinking. We'll see this as a classic in 20 years
Ironically, the 2020s are the most trouble free year so far. They revised the B52 for 2021 and unfortunately a lot of people have issues with excessive oil burning that aren't present in the 2020s. Hopefully they work it out in future model years, but so far 2021 and 2022 are not even a consideration for me despite more power from the factory. No word yet on 2023 Supras yet.
Bro I'm saving all I can to get one of these. Literally my dream car. I AM going to get one of these in the future
You got this dawg, love to hear you speak it into existence 🔥
Dude I was saving for 4 years. Got a 3. 0 premium in the only color I wanted phantom grey. Keep at it you got this 👍
@@1064291 how much did u put on down payment for the Supra. me and and my brother want to save up 20 k for a down payment by next year fall time u think that’s a good enough down I’m 18 he’s 19
@@okaoalal3144 I wouldn't share a car with someone else personally. I'd rather just save up to buy my own to not have any problems.
That thing sounds meannnn! Handling is so important! I’ve been driving different Infiniti’s for awhile and they have pretty nasty handling as well.
It sounds so sexy inside. The styling is beautiful and it's literally a BMW with the reliability of a Toyota. I was wrong to hate this car before, now it's just really good.
i could see myself upgrading my 335i to this but only in manual
@ The Topher, if you could only pick one for a summer only fun car: (90% mixed roads, 10% track, summer only) which one?
- Camaro SS 1LE
- Challenger 392 Wide body
- GR Supra 3.0
- Mustang Mach 1
LOVE ALL your reviews. Your style and synopsis are by far the best. Cheers. 🍻
If you follow his channel you'll see that he would pick the Supra. He's not a muscle car guy.
@@xFlared I follow his channel, lol, I've watched every review several times. If you watched his reviews, as he tested each, he said if he could he would buy a Camaro SS 1LE, a Challenger Wide body and the Supra.... everything I mentioned above with the exception of the Mach 1, which only back up Topher drove. This is why I asked him AND if he's like me he couldn't decide on just one because he loves cars so much!! I'm lucky as I get to pick one, next summer as my summer fun car to keep for a very long time. I'm leaning towards the SS 1LE, best value, V8 sound, pops, handles amazingly, track capable, isn't overcomplicated to work on, lots of aftermarket support and it has a (tiny) back seat.
What about adding C8 to this list?
@@sonicmoj1 Cost and added Dealer markups
Can't wait to see reviews with the manual version coming
SUPRA - My Childhood Love ❤️
These are insanely fun to drive!
Saw one the other day in Windsor Ontario. Went to go and watch my brother in law play foot ball for the Saint Clair Saints and it was just sitting in the parking lot.
Got mine just under a month ago and it’s everything I thought it would be and more.
Put a reserve on the GR86, I wanted the Supra and that was already a stretch to buy, but when I saw the 10k markup on it I was 💀
That’s insane.. did you shop around? I bought one in February for MSRP
@@jtermyna1998 I genuinely think all the houston dealerships made a deal to charge mark up
@@OxiSG In my area, the GR86 was marked up by 10K and the Supra was only marked up by 5K so I went with the Supra.
i never miss any of your videos well done
People hate this car for absolutely no reason. It’s reliable, it has fantastic performance, the rear looks great and the front decent IMO, the driving dynamics are BMW, the automatic is BMW tuned and pretty quick and the interior looks clean. What more do you want? People are just hating for the sake of hating at this point
What I like about the automatic transmission is that it keeps pulling as you said 😁
All of a sudden the manual Supra is even more appealing with the launch of the M2 weighing nearly 3900 lbs. Manual Supra is only 3400lbs😮
Looks like an alien car, I dig it
I always thought that when i would reach my mid twenties, i would have a good fast car, but seems like life is a bit more harder than i thought it would be. i really like this car, but in order to pay 50k for a car, you need to be surprisingly rich. I am still driving the same W210 E320 i bought 7 years ago, i need to stay more disciplined and work harder.
I am about to turn 30 and decided to buy the Supra as my "good car" for my birthday. I've never owned a car that I actually liked, always just drove boring cars. But decided to step out of my comfort zone and went for it. I pick it up in a few weeks, i'm so excited. I fell in love with it. My advice, just keep saving and buy when you're ready. Even if it takes longer than your mid twenties.
The Axis powers have United again!
I didn't care for this car on release but every time I see one it's an absolute neck breaker, especially with the heritage wing. Fingers crossed for the used market in 15 years! 😭
Hopefully i am gonna buy one in about a 1yr
Yeah, goodluck paying over 100k in 15 years. It ain't 2018 anymore where special cars depreciate and hold after 5 years.
I love the car but I think it failed go capture the magic of the 90s supra that still holds up today and is Still one of the best sports cars ever
i will have this in a couple of months i will come back when i have it
That's literally the only Toyota car l like, one of my most dream car ever
My dream car bro
The Supra sounds just 👌
I know it's a small thing, but I can't get over the fake vents! It's not that hard to make them functional 😕 I hate that they didn't. Still planning to buy the manual 3.0 though.
Fixed the wind buffeting on mine for $10 😂
I'm not a fan of modern cars, the way they look, most of them nowadays look like taken straight from cyberpunk or don't have their specific brand distinc design anymore but this Supra looks and performs really great. BMW nailed B58 and the fact that Toyota decided to use it in their cars is a solid proof of that.
My 2023 will be here next month! Cant wait 😎😵💫😵💫
I wanted one of these so bad but getting in and out without constantly banging my head was a no no and overall lack of visibility didn’t help. I ended up buying a M240XI which I love, it’s a great practical DD which the Supra isn’t
I hit my head so hard getting in once that I started seeing stars.
Dude why would you DD a sports car lol 😂 not practical
I am conflicted between a new 3.0 Supra or a Nissan Z. My heart tells me Z, my head tells me Supra.
Z4 😈
been doing extra hours at work since manual was announce hopefully i get it😀🙏🙏
Best Looking Supra. Period
Very nice presentation. Pov. And your voice is soothing. Subscribed
Glad I love German and Japanese cars. Can’t wait to get one of these
Completely agree about 7th gen idrive being the best BMW infotainment system.
Dream car next year😅
for both cars to be so close in price i would always choose the supra
Much cheaper alternative for wind buffeting - Hypersonic Black Car Door Edge Guard Trim Molding Crash Scratch Protector - $10 on amazon!
Perfect track/weekend car that's plenty comfortable for long drives to/from the track, but falls short of being a decent daily.
I have this exact configuration (except black interior in mine) on order now for over 6 months! Hope it gets delivered soon..
Can't wait until you get to review the new GR Corolla!
I am Saving up for one of these Going to Save up for 1 year and hopefully buy one of these this time next year I can not wait.
Beautiful car
One of the best sports cars. For its price
If you listen closely, and topher touches the pedal perfectly. You can hear the turbos kick in and give out that awesome sound. 😮💨🤤
My dream car fr omg😩😩😩 one day
I have this car in red, but my dream car is the c8 corvette which is out of my price range
Which car would you say is more engaging for the driver (ignoring manual vs auto), the GR86 or GR Supra? Wasn't sure if your comment about the 86 being more playful is directly addressing this. I feel strange saying this, but I'm considering both once the '23 Supra is available.
I own a gr86 and drove a supra today and the gr86 is definitely more engaging. The supra is pretty soft and steering is light (but accurate). You feel like the car does a lot for you. However the engine and the transmissions are simply amazing
Supra just has more power, I would go for the Supra.
The only thing is the it’s a 2 seater. That’s the only things that about this car that I don’t like. Because I have to have a car with at least 4 seats:,)
The transmission does a great job. WOW
Same transmission they use in Lamborghini if that says anything
😂😂😂😂😂 2:58 "and a cigarette lighter but you don't really need it" that was funny. All love brother!!! 🙏💙 i love your videos
Hey Topher, what is the best sports car you’ve driven under 50k? I’m looking to buy a car by the end of this year, should I wait or do you have a recommendation?
I think it's probably this one. Wait for the CTR reviews tho
“Is tHaT a SUPRA?!?”
🔥🔥🔥
"Hey guys, today we're beating the shit out of a 2022 Toyota Supra!"
How does this stack up to the Camaro SS 1LE in your opinion? Considering a manual Supra or 1LE next spring.
I own one. If you can live with the blind spots and quirky visibility of the Camaro, the SS 1LE is an amazing package. It also depends on whether you’re getting an auto or manual. The Camaro’s 10 speed auto doesn’t suit my taste, and I honestly feel like the ZF 8 speed is in fact the superior transmission in the case of the Supra (it’s as reactive and fast shifting as a DCT, it’s hard to believe but I prefer it to the M2 DCT I drove). Alas, due to medical issues I was unable to buy another manual car. But if I had the choice between the two today with the option of the SS 1LE manual and Supra, the SS 1LE would be a strong consideration for me. But I couldn’t get used to the visibility enough to get one.
hahaha.....this guy sounds all law abiding and then he drove it to the redline.....wow......no joke!!!
Wow....imagine no camera around this guy.....I love it!!!
This guy knows how to drive.
Great video as always. So I’ve checked out your other videos. After this ride, what would you choose? A GR Supra 2.0 auto, or a GR Supra 3.0 auto? Thanks
wow work of art
i have a bmw m2c and this is literally a bmw with a toyota badge and yes ik we all already knew that.
dude the sound of the "bing" is BMW when you get in
when you look at the mk4 supra interior and see how it kinda looks like a planes interior and how driver focused its angled and you look at this...
I would be curious to know how this compares to the new Type R coming out. Similar numbers for performance and price, but totally different approach.
They don't really compare - Type R is a FWD hot hatch making a little over 300hp and just over 40k , the Supra a RWD sports car making almost 400 at just over 50k.
@@CypressRacing Supra makes 382 on paper, but actually hits above 400 on the dyno. Savagegeese did a dyno for the Supra, I think he hit just barely 400, but I've seen other testers reach 402
Wait you can get CUL8R Gray on the automatic too? I want one
Amazing car tbh, I still would choose the 240i over this for the price value
I’m surprised they still haven’t fixed the wind buffeting issue right off the factory for the newer models.
Same, it’s such an easy fix!
Came on here for some other people’s opinions. I’ve been wanting to get a 3.0 for a long time now I’m young and I’ve saved up enough money where I feel comfortable buying it now but it’s just so expensive. I’ve been told to save up for a house and what not but again I’m only 21 and I’ve never bought my own car and getting this car would be a dream come true. Would love some others opinions on this.
My only quibble is why the hell doesn't Toyaota address the wind buffeting themselves? Is it ego? For me, it's inexcusable. They'll address everything else but that and it's such a PITA.
What they really need to address is the throttle hesitation issues these car have.
Damn, I think I'm in love!
Hey Topher... can you start doing draggy times? I'm also a scca racer/ time attacker. You're obviously a much better driver than majority of the RUclips reviewers. It would be nice to see what these cars can do with a competent driver.
