I'm in love with this car now. Fun ride. Really enjoyed your discussion about the vehicle during the road trip.
Someone in my neighborhood has a Supra with plates “ISTHATA” and it brings a smile to my face every time I see it
Is that a BMW? Yes!
@@cgreenfield6655 Is that a crybaby 10yo supra fan ? Yes ! :DD Bro get some and dont be mad for CAR xdd
Writing that down
@@cgreenfield6655 Bet you don't got a car in your garage except for maybe a Little Tikes...
@@cgreenfield6655someone’s poor? Yes !
I've hit 39.1 mpg on a 350 mile all highway roadtrip in the auto. I couldn't believe it when I hit 34 mpg's without really trying, then I tried to see what it would top out at. I was on 93 octane. I was just utterly shocked at the efficiency. The great mpg's also makes the range on this car huge.
B58 is a gem for sure.
That MPG efficiency is actually important these days.
@@apexfien
Thanks Joe!
I average 34 on 70-75mph
B58 and that ZF is something else. I am on a road trip for moving with my new m440 gran coupe. That car is at least 1000lbs heavier than the Supra and the whole cabin is filled with my heavy luggages. Still averaging a 32mpg when I go 75mph using acc which means lots of braking and acceleration.
The best part about this car is the interior which looks exactly like pre 2022 bmw. The perfect mix of modern technology with screens and manual buttons in my opinion. This interior is something youll never get frustrated with.
The interior is actually a Toyota design and layout. I can even tell by the dashboard design and the steering wheel.
The only BMW stuff in the interior, according to the chief designer, is the small switchgear.
@@thecriticalthinkeroutsidet4947 It looks identical to the modern bmw interior pre 2022. It's the exact same layout and same screen, same screen size, software on the screen looks the same, etc. The button for sport mode is identical, too.
@Username The screen and buttons (which are only small switchgear) was the only BMW stuff in the interior, according to the car's chief designer (Nobuo Nakamura).
He confirmed that Toyota had the freedom to do their own overall interior style and layout. The layout gives me a lot of Lexus vibes, and even parts like the steering wheel, materials, and seats look very Toyota.
@Username I've compared them side by side and even been to many car interiors. BMWs are normally known for their plush and luxury interiors, with especially a lot of stitching everywhere. Though, the designs look more generic than what this has.
The Supra's interior design and style here remind me a lot of Toyota, from the dashboard to steering wheel to the materials and the way everything is laid out. It's only parts like the switchgear (E.G. The shifter) that reminds me of BMW.
The car is a joint collaboration between Toyota and BMW, so the influence of the two automakers blended together is noticeable.
@@thecriticalthinkeroutsidet4947 Bmw interiors are typically very minimal and very little plush so I have no idea what you are talking about. I assure you this interior is exactly like a pre 2022 bmw. Unless you look at some bmw M8 or M4s with all the extra options. That's not what I'm talking about those aren't comparable at all to the supras price point.
Edit: I sat in a 2019 bmw 7 series for years and been in the supra at auto shows several years in a row. I promise you that they are almost identical. This supra is pretty much a 5 series interior.
Also, substitute topher is correct that they made changes to the JBL sound system. They also made changes to suspension and the feel on tight roads for 23+ (I believe they call it Hairpin+ mode).
Is it just for the manuals or all models?
@@seb5945 all models
What did they change with the sound sytem?
@@Al_Phabet just the tuning I believe, not the actual speakers.
A scholar and a gentleman for knocking the rocks off your boots before getting into the car. I dig your channel man, the supra is fantastic. I went from 2020 to 2023 and the refinement is very noticeable. I do miss the crackles and pops from the 2 port 2020. But the 6 port in the 2023 sounds more raw and deep. The handling is improved quite a bit in the 2023. Supra is amazing.
You can preprogram or recode several things with a OBDLink CX. I recoded mine to have the infotainment in additional brightness, and for that alone it was worth the money. I also recoded it to always start the engine in Sport mode, leave the start/stop function always off, and have the right side mirror tilt at various degrees in reverse mode. Really worth the money…There are many videos on this. Toyota should have figured this out 4 years ago.
I think you can do this because its basically a BMW iDrive system which is pretty friendly to tweak with. Not sure if you can customize the stock Toyota system as much.
Had a '21 and it was the best car I've ever owned. Hate that I got rid of it and wish prices on the manuals weren't so exorbitant. Need this car back in my life with the MT. Great video as always.
I just did a search on autotrader within a 500 mile radius of the DFW metroplex, and the few MT I could find were all price egregiously high. It's a bummer because at MSRP I could almost be talked into doing something stupid like signing up for another car payment, but I refuse to pay $20k of market adjustment on anything. I'll wait, or go without.
woke up just in time for this
i love the mk5, good stuff man
The camera position and full screen mode really made this a great video. And the great scenery also. I'll be subscribing! Toyota's reputation is a big selling point over the rest of the brands.
we are back with subsitute Topher......" hi" lmao. love these guys
Man those backroads are beautiful.
It’s interesting you mentioned a better sounding sound system. When I replaced the stock speakers to the BAVSound upgrade kit, I noticed the stock speakers were the Harmon kardon speakers found in BMWs. Could be worth looking at!
i used to have a manual is300 a while back with an aftermarket exhaust and surprisingly this manual supra has such a similar note it almost sounds the same lol
Inline 6 goodness
I live 20 mins from there! Good stuff
Right on time 😊
the mk5 is SUCH a cool car. def one of the best supras made besides the mk2 imo
I live in Blacklick Ohio man you should check the roads out here, I take my si on these roads on a daily basis. Some really good driving out here.
In car and driver's dyno of the 2021 model, the Supra made 388hp to the WHEELS.
I don't know if it's because the Mt might have a more direct link and less loss to drivetrain, but a few Mt supras have been dynoed and they put 405-420 to the wheels which is nuts.
Awesome drive. I've now test driven the MT Z and AT Supra plus been owning the MT GR86 for over a year. I think it's amazing how completely different these cars are.
I found the Supra to be in a completely different performance class. It feels super special, makes all the right noises and I think it's one hell of a bargain. I would probably get it in AT just because of how great the engine and transmission combo is.
The Z was a bit weird. I loved how understated everything felt, and I loved the smoothness of the driving experience. But man you sit higher than some sedans in that car and the so called performance seats were just uncomfortable to me. I could only justify the Z if it was priced at least 10 to 20% lower.
I do have to say that driving these powerful yet bloated cars does make the GR86 feel that much more special. To the extent that I've decided to keep it and probably try to own it alongside the Supra. To me for that fun weekend drive, nothing will beat the purity of the GR86 (and maybe the miata). There really is no replacement for simplicity and lightness.
I'm in the market right now and torn between a manual Z and Supra 3.0. Which one do you recommend? Which one is faster and more fun to drive? I like the looks and interior of the Z more but supra seems to have better build quality. What are your thoughts? Thanks
@so cal 23 I'd say the Z was a lot less serious, which is a good or a bad thing depending on what you want. It was definitely more of a GT car. Smooth, understated, you sit high like in a sedan. The turbo also felt a bit old-school, in that it hits pretty hard. The Supra is a proper performance machine. You sit low, you have poor visibility, you basically make compromises because you want to be in a performance car. I personally felt like the Supra was half a class above the Z in terms of performance and handling.
Weight is the enemy of fun. I’ve owned a number of BMWs and they typically make great motors, but I’ll happily stick with my GR86
@STMs I sold my r8 v10 for this reason. Fun in straight line but boring at low speeds. Want something more agile. Can't decide supra or z
@@socal2384 I’m biased, but I’d get a brz or gr86 again vs either of those two. The Z isn’t a sports car, it’s a big GT. The Supra will feel all of the 700lbs heavier than my car. How much thrust does one need to have fun behind the wheel?
Beautiful color,i have everything in blue. Manual is a big W!!!
Love that KITH beanie. His fit 🙌
7:29 the in-sync-ness is crazy
I just want to say that at @3:09 when you guys say that this supra is the only B58 that comes with a manual transmission that's incorrect. The F30 (2013-2019 3 series) 340i comes with a B58 and is offered in a 6 speed manual. Same with the F32 (2013-2019 4 series) 440i, it also has a B58 that offers a 6 speed manual transmission. Granted they are slightly different versions but that's because they are older models and are updated throughout the years. Still the same engine though. Just thought I'd let everyone know so there isn't any false information.
Those were early B58s, and by all accounts the 8 speed ZF is so much better that it’s not worth getting the manual. I’ve driven a manual F30 340i and it wasn’t very impressive. The ZF8 still shocks me at how quick it shifts even to this day, 50,000mi later
That said I wouldn’t buy anything but a manual A90
Exactly I was gonna make this comment lol when he said that I’m like ummmmmmm no 😂
I thought he said "currently available", as in to buy one brand new now. For sure manuals were available from BMW themselves with the B58 in previous gen cars.
B58 on its way to truly legendary status as an engine.
so excited I ordered mine in white 2023 arriving soon .. love these reviews made up my mind
Lucky I’ll buy it in 4 years and mod the crap out of it I’m saving money for it rn got 6k so far donate plz 😢
white is the worst color on a car but i hope you love it
@@dogeofamp6037 just depends how much payment you want to swing
@@bradhaines3142 white is the best color IMO. it's all subjective lmao
why do people say they order them. You can't order them. Dealer has no choice what they get.
Nitro yellow rules. I don’t normally like yellow cars but that Supra in yellow is amazing. Great review!
@2:58 I noticed you “kicked off” the debris from your shoes. I appreciate you for doing that. I do the exact same thing, always. Respect.
my dream car.
I really enjoyed the video. It was a nice conversation you guys were having, I felt present with you guys in the Supra. I own a 2020 STI that brings me so much joy, but the idea of owning a Supra is extremely tempting. You only live once…
Same here. Got a 2011 STI and the Supra is tempting me more and more
@@williamnguyen6859 yeah tough decision. I don’t wanna regret selling my STI. Did it once before and regretted it. Nice to have for the winter. And not to mention they don’t make STIs anymore. But the Supra… the only real answer is two cars haha
Good to see you guys enjoying the vehicle responsibly and not getting too crazy.
Awesome 👍😎 Cape Town South Africa 🌍♥️
i’m really looking forward to see in our manila roads a whopping manual supra
ill tell you what I think of stratosphere blue,
it's outta this world

sounds like an oldschool BMW from the 80s & 90s with M30 engine..... and that bridge reminds me of the movie Beetlejuice 😁
DUUUUUDE its the topher from tedwards pov thats craaazzy
That covered bridge reminded me of Beetlejuice! Great video!
Now if my dealership could get mine 😩😂All the review videos makes me want it even more!
You and me both, I’ve been waiting for over a year and doubting I’m getting mine. God luck 🤞🏼
@@Zayduzit Same here! I put money down like.. May 10th last year? I was 3rd in line at my dealership, and I know my dealership has only gotten 3 in, with the 3rd being a 2.0. Hopefully we gets ours soon! I know BMW is still struggling with parts, so the Supra and Z4 aren't coming as fast as they should because they're focusing on high selling models
@@ezioahmet4192 yea I’m number one in my dealership no dice. I wasn’t aware of the bmw parts issue. Good sign is that at least your dealership has gotten some, mine hasn’t been able to get a single one. Nothing but gr86s and a gr Corolla lol. Best of luck my dude 🤘🏼
@@Zayduzit Honestly, I wouldn't exactly pass up a GR Corolla 😂 But it sucks there hasn't been any at yours. I thought to check about the parts supply chain a couple months ago, since I do forget it's made by BMW alongside the Z4. So if Z4 is struggling for parts, safe to assume the Supra is too
I have a deposit down as well. This wait is killing me!!!! I haven’t been this excited for a new car since the E92 M3 came out
I’m disappointed that you didn’t come and visit.
Every year they make changes to the supra 😊
That’s it, I’m buying one
its a nice simple interior. I just wish it faced the driver like the previous generation Supra did
It takes off so nice seen it live and definitely thought hemi how it takes off like the silver color
I wish they would offer the M340i with a manual ...
10:07 I’d argue auto controls that symphony even better :)
Would love to see you test drive the Camaro LT1 with a manual
Interesting scenery along the way. Maybe that is the norm, wherever you are, but there were sure a lot of buildings very close to the roadway.
13:10 Great job controlling the steer out. Thing is so peppy. 😂 Man i need to drive one.
how is the ergonomics of this car - particularly the manual transmission for tall guys?
I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these. Manual transmission for me. Idk that it’s not as fast as the auto.
Hopefully there will be a video of 2023 Nissan Z
nice speedmaster
Does anyone else feel the acceleration from watching this? Because i do. Dying for this car.
I see that nice Speedmaster on your wrist 😉
I think it should be more like a Cayman with analog gauges and moe the screen to the lower part of the console would be better. They should also revise the nose to have less of a "Schnozz" look.
Badass
The transmission on them are butter, super easy and pretty forgiving. Pedal could be lower but it’s so nice
A lot what you say about driving this car also describes my e46 323ci
it is sure that it feels like good to drive manual transmission car on the countryside road.
This or S2000? P.s. beautiful backdrop for this drive by the way!👌
I watched 13 minutes and that was enough for me to know that I want a Supra. This is everything I'm looking for. I would prefer a manual for this car.
Averaged 21 MPG in 3300 miles since I picked it up, majority highway miles lol Problem is I don't like being in 6th on highway lol
Really like the looks and the presence this car has. I may be in the minority but I wish they made the 6 speed available with the 4 cylinder. I prob would've got the car already. 255 german hp and 295 torque is more than enough for me in a car this size. I know I won't use all that extra power of the 6 and I'd save some money. And the car would probably be more controllable with the lower output.
True, it really makes around 300hp. Just as the six hits 425+. I love the looks of this car and would love the chance to own it at a lower price (and less weight over the front).
If you could afford it then it would remove any desirability
That is a nice looking car. The Toyota team came up with some nice colors for their entire lineup. Thanks for the review.
*the BMW team
@@rogerigez21 No, don't be stupid. The Toyota team would decide which exterior colours are offered with the Supra. MF needs to get over the zUpRa shit, it's been 4 years, get over it.
The paints look like BMW paints. Well pre 2021 bmw, before they ruined all their cars.
i think most of manufacturers has this blue. GM is called Hyper Blue
Sweet Z4
was this filmed in upstate NY?
Best sport car to come out in the last 5 years.
Here to see your impression on this vs. our BRZs. Zygrene seemed to like the Supra’s manual over the BRZ Manual which I found surprising.
Also, the wheels on the GR86/BRZ look just like the Supra’s!
the gr86 wheels look a little cheaper
@@villusiveAgreed, it’s a cheaper car. It I meant the overall designs are similar between GR86/BRZ, GR Corolla, and GR Supra wheels which surprised me.

Can you do a Cadillac DTS? (The last true Cadillac)
I love that you're in the Buckeye state. Some of the best driving roads around. I live in southeast Ohio and own a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT. Wayne National forest is in my backyard. My Spyder isn't as fun as maybe a Miata on the winding country roads. But it's responsiveness and quickness make driving on both state routes 26 and 7 through Wayne National Forest.a whole lot of fun. I hope you enjoy your time in Ohio and find us friendly. Even though your from that state up north lol The Supra is a beautiful car and looks like it would be awesome to drive.
The fact it still uses the BMW infotainment system from like 7 years ago lol

He said it would if you can deal with two seats.
I thought the Pilot Super Sports were outdated and replaced by the Pilot Sport 4s. Why wouldn’t Toyota just use that instead of the older tire?
Because the car was engineered around the Pilot Super Sports
Ughhhh.. Lost me at 'rev hang'.. I'm still waiting for the revs to drop on my mk7.5 GTI and I sold that thing 2 years ago..
What did you end up getting instead?
@@theredsalmon612 After the GTI I went to an FK8 CTR for about a year.. great FWD car, but the pedals were too far for heel n toe.. I bought it anyway because it was a good deal (2021 CPO w/2k miles for $39k in 4/2021), so I got it anyway. Drove it for about 6 months, put 10k miles on it, and CarMax offered me $47k.. couldn't say no lol.
Went to a more 'analog' and extremely better sounding car.. 2018 STI Type RA.. hydraulic steering and the shifter goes right into the trans, unlike on FWD cars..
Then my need for 4 doors went away, so I went with a highly maintained 987.1 Cayman S for $32k last summer.. best driving car I've owned.. revs drop like the housing market in 09, lol.

@@Magic_Vince From the video, you can see it has it virtually all gears.
Drop a lighter flywheel and that should help with the rev hang
Im much happier with the ZF. Had manuals for years, auto is much faster and more exciting. Not to mention its nice to have 2 hands on the wheel at all times for a 400+hp car....
Toyota's tuning of the JBL system was atrocious for a ton of different models/year's. I had a 2014 xle v6 Camry and the dealer even admitted he didn't know how it could sound so bad.
OK i have to ask, i drove a 2022 2.0 supra. The seats pushed in on my ribcage. I am 6 foot an 184. Does this happen on this model?
Gotta love driving through those Ohio state routes in the hills.
i think i prefer the sound of the inline 6 compared with the VQ V6 of the Z. The Z is just too quiet and sounds like a 4 cylinder
