    some of us old timers have been laughing for decades how all you detailing suckers buy all kind of unnecessary products.. geez any simple old cleaner works fine on acrylic which is the varnish on leather so it is not like old leather in old cars.. woolite works but is not mild, it is a harsh chemical so wear gloves. Bronners is my favorite which is just mild castille soap, you can get same results with murphys, simple green, ivory dish soap or dissolved castille bar soap or flakes, or natural shampoos or soaps, or ask your grandma.. she was cleaning biologics for decades before you were born.. You never need any expensive "cleaners" which are detergents and are half synthetic-fragrance which are big endocrine-disruptors anyway! Detailers ought to be as concerned as auto painters about chemicals.. This video could be 1 minute long if he was willing to just tell it, instead you'd think he's protecting an idea to sell, but he blew that one! Join a million other companies selling the same crapola in a new label.. If you want to actually renew old colored leather which is like paint or stain, try diluted ammonia, it's a super cleaner so be careful, try it where it doesn't show first It will transform old colored leathers but will do it by starting to dissolve that coating. IF you want real leather, take a gallon of acetone to a new car interior.. def wear a mask and only do it outdoors! But you will have genuine leather again just like an old jaguar..

      When I do a leather cleaning with Woolite like Scott has shown, I mix a spray bottle with the Woolite soap, and then I have a bucket of clean water and a microfibre; use the spray bottle and a brush or sponge, then I'll take the cloth damp with water and wipe off, then dry with a separate towel. I definitely find it worth rinsing, it's a soap after all. Top with your preferred dressing, I use Collinite 855 leather wax.

      I commented saying the same I use it for leather shoes and I’ve my own mixes with jojoba oil and coconut oil mixed with the detergent for non coated leathers and coated leathers it works well with both. The oils help with replenishing conditioners into the leather on the non coated stuff and even on the coated stuff it seems to help with preventing the leather from drying out. I’ve found you don’t necessarily need wool it’s but a detergent free of fragrances and all the additives which basically applies to all the hypoallergenic detergents.

    • @SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs
      @SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs Год назад

      @@derekcolvin9944 no problem the reason I tried the oils mixed into the detergent mixture is because that's what a lot of the popular shoe cleaners are using these days. Reshoevenator, Crep, Angelus and Jason marks all use the same in their shoe cleaners albeit in their proprietary mixtures and they don't tell you exactly what detergents their using but it really doesn't make a big difference what matters most is playing with the mix and getting the amounts just right for what your looking to do with it. I make mines pretty concentrated because I find it easier to do that then water it down when necessary vs doing the opposite.

    Thanks so much for the information. Scott this is the first time I’ve seen this demo.. Eagle Products used to put out a product called Eagle 1 Leather Creme. It cleaned and conditioned leather and made it smell brand New!! I wish they still made the product. An Elderly Gentleman that worked at the Cadillac dealership since he was a kid recommended the leather creme - he said “it was like putting lotion on your skin!” My leather stayed soft, pliable and never cracked or dried out. O’Reilley auto parts introduced me to another Leather Cleaner and conditioner and it does a great job and the leather smells like new! Griot’s Garage Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. The diluted woolite would leave a delicate clean smell which is what the Cadillac Dealer and Lexus detailers used. Thanks so much for the information.

    Just a suggestion to share: we have horses and have been maintaining very expensive leather goods -- bridles, saddles which are $5k retail, custom made boots, harness -- with castile soap and a bit of water. The tack is cleaned every time it is used. Tooth brushes for the small areas. a lightly dampened sponge for the large spaces. Important to clean the leather every use because the horse's sweat has salt in it and this simple soap gets the salt off while conditioning the leather. I've used this on the leather of my cars for years. Doesn't rot the stitching, doesn't change the color regardless of whether the leather is dark or light color, and no need to rinse. Inexpensive like Woolite. Comes in bars like any soap. We don't use it on fabrics. Just on leather of any kind and especially very fine leather like the French calf of boots and shoes and finely made harness and tack.

    Better to show us the Microfiber towel.
    In the UK, a 500ml Spray bottle of leather cleaner is 99p ( 75 c USA ) with the correct ph factor.
    Forget the CAR Shops, Buy from the Discount Supermarkets For Cleaning Leather Sofas & Chairs. On the Household Cleaning shelves. A cheap Brand will do the job, It's called LEATHER CLEANER. In a Squirty Spray Bottle, It is Clear & soapy as you Use it.
    99p in the supermarket, £9.99 in the Car Shop / Car care Shelves.
    a 500 ml spray will do 5 or 10 cars depending how dirty they are.
    After Thoroughly Cleaning your Leather, it is wise to Allow it to dry properly,
    Then Wipe it over with a LEATHER FEED Product, / Leather Conditioner.
    It;s like a Very Slightly Oily Cream to prevent the leather from Drying out & Cracking.
    Use a tiny amount & rub it in with a very soft clean cloth.
    Similar principle to using HAND Cream after washing Dishes etc. Leather is Skin, it will dry out & crack , with sunshine & age & Use.
    A bar of Normal Hand washing Mild Soap will also do the job on Leather.
    ( A very Small amount on a Clean Damp Microfiber towel. ) Wipe off with another Damp Microfiber towel. Dry with a 3rd microfiber towel. TRY NOT to get the Leather too Wet.
    READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS & LABELS ON ALL PRODUCTS. BEFORE USING.
    ALWAYS TEST a SMALL AREA FIRST.

    This DOES work. Just purchased a pre-owned Honda CR-V with black leather interior. The driver seat, the driver armrest and steering wheel are shinny. I used the "Hand Wash Delicate" Woolite (pink & white bottle) 1:5 distilled water with a tooth brush, like you did. The crap that came off of the seats was this greenish black dirt. Seats look amazing. The armrest which I think might be vinyl, is still a little shiny probably from constant rubbing or burnishing. I think a gentle swipe of a magic eraser will take care of that. Thanks for the tip.
    After using this solution however, I did use a wet towel to wipe off the soap residue.

    Holy Crap!! Informative video but try to get to the point a little sooner, then again I'm retired so I've got the time, Lol I've been using Meguiars APC @ 10:1 mixture for interior cleaning. I'll give the Woolite a try. Thanks. Subscribed.

    Scott - SERIOUSLY!! Respect your audience, and pay attention to your feedback: WAY too many words, WAY too long-winded. This was a 5 min vid tops, maybe should be a 3 min vid. Love your stuff but can't waste my life waiting for your point. You'll get WAY more views for a 3-5 min video than for this long-winded 15min time-waster. Just tryin' to help both you AND your subscribers.

    I just bought a used, very nice and clean truck last week. The person who sold it (a small car dealer), must have sprayed (or hired someone to detail it) everything with that crappy Armor All garbage. I cant stay seated because its so slippery, nothing stays on it. My purse flies on the floor, upside down, and unless I put the armrest down, I'm sliding too. What idiots. I'm going to try this to remove ALL the Armor All. Morons.

      @redtvproductions1 6 лет назад

      I agree. I had that happen to my brand new Mercedes a few years ago. I couldn't believe someone would use that stuff on a new car with leather seats. The detailer told me to use windscreen cleaner like Windex and it will come off. It did. But i lost the new car smell I paid 142k for. I went bonkers and told the detailers staff that you only put that armerhll crap on a $2000 car if you want to sell it.

    Thanks very much I will try it on my new/used Cadillac Escalade that has very light leather (Slate). I'm in warm weather year round and have shorts or a dress on a lot so the oils from legs I'm sure will transfer. I haven't tried it yet but I will soon. Scott do I need to put any other product on the seats after I've cleaned them as a protectant?

    This absolutely works. I used this with some dollar store magic eraser pads on some hammered, beige, 2008 BMW X3 seats, with great results. thanks for sharing!

    • @JA-rn5qv
      @JA-rn5qv 4 года назад +5

      Be careful using eraser pads on finished leather. The eraser pads will actually remove the clear sealant from the surface of the leather, and yeah it will look great for a while but with the sealant stripped off you'll run in to trouble down the road with that leather. Much better to just wipe with a regular cloth.
