- This is my second week training as an Over the Road Truck Driver with Swift. This week I drove the furthest distance than I have ever driven, with 600 miles to Brownsville, Texas. That's new the Mexico boarder.
Your cab situation in the back of the truck reminds me of van life videos. Nice birthday tribute to the kids' mom, very sweet. Enjoy your time home with the family.
I definitely feel like I’m in a big van lol As far as the kids mom. We’re all just growing up. I wish her nothing but the best
@@iamdesmondcassell That is what’s up! Good for you both. ♥️♥️♥️
Hey Dez. Definitely seeing them every three weeks is better.💪🏾👌🏽💯 👍🏽 okay! Sleeping bag, comfortable bed, microwave, fridge. Cool. 😎Yes, being safe is a definite.👍🏽
Hi Shina. Seeing them every day is even better. I have to get there and be there before it’s too late ⏰
@@iamdesmondcassell👌🏽🙏🏽😄✨️💪🏾you got it. Whatever you need to do.
Nooo not the stomach, Dez!! 😂 I'm enjoying watching you achieve what you set out to do. You're doing it, man. Well done x
Thank you 😁 P.S. That shirt was just small lol
So happy to see you progressing in what you set out to do! Totally understand wanting as much time with family as possible. I think seeing these vlogs really put in perspective how things are re-stocked and the sacrifices ppl make to transport goods. We know it happens but watching the process like this is seeing it through a totally different lens.
Yes! Thank you! This job won’t be something that I do for long term. Being around the kids is important to me and I can’t do that if I’m in other states. I am definitely enjoying the experience though.
Good luck des please be safe out there god bless
Thank you. Safe as I can be
You’re welcome
Hey Dez. I see your on your grind and I’m proud of you. I can’t wait to see where you will end up.

I love how you are making positive vibes out of your situation. Looking at the future and not dreading the present. Your best days are coming.🤣😇🤗 making more money you can always fly Spirit to TEXAS 😇😇😇
Ms. Cox you have no idea. This isn’t where I want to be at the moment but I also understand that I have to certain things now in order to get where I want to be in the future. I just don’t like being away from kids for too long. I don’t ever want them resenting me for not being there.
My husband drive trucks we have a truck company and love it

Hey Dez nice video , do you also have to unload your truck or Walmart does ? I am glad you enjoy your new job . Hugs to KOBE 🥰 God Bless .
Hey Yolly, thank you for watching. No, I don’t have to unload anything at Walmart. My new job is cool but I’m looking forward to being able to be home weekly.
No not the Santa stomach 😅😂🔥✊🏽
I start orientation Wednesday. Hopefully I don’t wait too long for a mentor. How long did you wait?
Welcome to the Team. It’s definitely different than what I expected. I finished orientation on Tuesday and I was in the truck with my mentor on that following Tuesday.
Appreciate it. Stay safe out there!
Is it true that swift trucks don’t have APU units? If not, how do you stay warm in the winter? I thought some states don’t allow you to idle the truck overnight . Also, what’s an average salary for first year OTR ?
Not true. If that was the case how would you stay cool in the winter? Pay is different for everyone depending upon experience, intermodal, hazmat, doubles, etc…
Cool video Im thinking of driving for swift i thought they send new drivers with mentors where does he sleep or where is he at?
Mentors are with you during your 4 weeks of training. You both sleep in the same truck.
Hey how does training go do the trainer and trainee sleep in truck while training?
HeyJen. Great question. The answer is yes but know that all trainers aren’t the same.
Are there many women drivers?
Hi and thank you for watching my video. No, there are not many women who do this job but there are some. My mom is the one who got me into trucking.
Audio sucks can't listen to this
