- Hi everyone,
I attended orientation on 08/30/2022 at the Lathrop Terminal in California. I'm very excited to start my on the road training next week and will try to make some videos for everyone to see what training is like with your mentor.
I'm watching this about an hour before attending swift orientation myself lol.
Congratulations and are you still with swift did you go with company or owner operators ?
Congratulations 🎈🎉🍾 I have orientation on the 19th of this month. Wish me luck 😂
Did you go yet?
I live a hour away from the Richmond Virginia terminal going through the background check right now
Yeah buddddy, Gonna get my last of my paper work, and get my new license and head off to swift in a few weeks and be apart of the swift fleet. Gotta stay on that pre trip as numero uno, check for cracks, bents and leaks, check your air pressures, spring breaks and hydraulic breaks.
Hit the road with your log sheets and weigh stations, swift is where it’s at, gotta get there, almost there. Go get em brethen. All the way.
brakes not breaks!
I'm going to Ocala terminal soon I hope my experience is as good as yours. Good luck be safe out there!
Thank you same to you!
Did you go yet?
@@CAUZMO What school did you attend? Was it Swifts or a private one? How hard was the written test? I'm a little concerned about that part.
@@kitt199546 private one. Swifts written test is very easy and they'll give you multiple attempts. DMV isn't bad as long as you study the questions on their website.
Got my CDL at TLD school going out to train for 2 weeks but it's low pay at 45 cents a mile so going to a better company soon get my experience.thanks for video.
Do you still work for swift?
Thanks man
Great job
Clear info, thanks.
i passed my exam and i am in touch with a swift recruiter but my new class A license is taking longer then usual to arrive...i would have been scheduled for an orientation for tomorrow..but now i dont know when thats gonna happen..so frustrating.
But thanks for the heads up..
good luck!
love this video
I've applied handful of times to swift in Lathrop I haven't been contacted back been a week. any tips or should I show up and enroll
I start orientation next week for swift.. reefer ...
Good luck
Thanks for the video. At orientation did they make you take another DOT Physical and Agility Test ? If so what did that entail ?
neither
Hair pee just asked me a lot of questions about health looked at the back of my neck a few exercises to see that I'm healthy nothing to hard arm rolls they just wanted to see that I'm able body
You got your CDL from a private academy. Like me. My question is do they make you do another physical and drug screening? I already have my CDL and medical card and done a dot urine drug screen at my trucking school. Did they make you do any of this again?
Yes, urine test and hair follicle
They do
was the trailer on the road test during orientation day a 28 or 48 footer ?
Were you supposed to watch multiple videos prior to orientation bro?
yeah but if you don’t they’ll just make you watch them at orientation because it tells them when you finish watching them. You’re orientation will just be longer…
I get my cdl through Valencia college
It ain’t like that in dallas
Interesting. What was different at Dallas?
So after all the training otr with the trainer what consist of the road test. Is it just driving around the block? Or pre trip and backing as well?
Pretrip, backing, and quick trip around the block
@@CAUZMO what type of backing??
@@kingl5523 angel back on drivers side
@@CAUZMO ok ok
Hi I from Kissimmee, Florida I have cdl a with hazmat and tanker and double triples endorsements but no experience. How much pay for orientation and after finish 4 weeks with trainer and be solo how many miles per week and how much weekly ?
Depends on how much you work. I was making close to 1,000 a week during orientation
Depends on how many miles you drive. They paid .53 cpm when I was working. I averaged anywhere from 2,500 to 3,500 miles a week.
@@CAUZMO thank you
@@CAUZMO I called swift she said 650 during training and after pay 0.55 cent per mile and also she said 3600 miles a week. I don’t know if this truth or not
@@fadi9596did u end up going? We from the same city 😂 and I went to Valencia
Do I need my CDL permit before I go to swift ?
Not sure I had my class a before getting in contact with swift. Contact a recruiter!
Yes, the hard copy
So even if you have your CDL class A you have to go thru the pre trip inspection again?
You have to do it for a swift test but it is a lot easier
hi bro please what
English Proficiency Exam my English is not good what kind of questions I got any help please
it’s simple questions like understanding what a stop sign, yield sign, or low clearance sign is, etc.
What do you mean about trainees dont have to back
Trainees don’t have to back to get initially hired during pre hire test.
Good explanation sir.
Question: once your processor says your case is closed over the phone before orientation, is there anymore employee verification done at orientation? My processor that calls me a home says she has gotten in touch with my current employer and employers over the last 3 years, I guess that means that I will not have to go through another employment verification at the terminal? I don’t want to have to show any W2 forms or pay stubs if that is unnecessary.
pretty sure you won’t have to
How hard is pretrip remembering ever single part
The pre trip test for swift was very easy compared to the DMV test. Swift just wants you to be able to demonstrate general knowledge of the truck and trailer.
@@CAUZMO so will I just be doing a pretrip for Swift or will I eventually be doing one for the dmv as well
Hey... so at what point do you test with the cdl evaluator?
once you have your class a license and apply for a job with swift you’ll take a road test the day of orientation that involves just driving around the local roads by the terminal (no backing involved). Then you go out for 3-5 weeks with a driving mentor to get your 200 hours of driving in. Then you will take another test called an upgrade test. From there you are on the road in a truck that they give you!
Why do you have to take a written test?
Hey. About how long is the road test for trainees?
I just went around the local streets by the terminal. Probably took about 10 minutes of driving. super easy, not stressful at all.
Okay what’s the pay ik they say for me 1000 minimum but what’s a basic steady check for swift ??
mine was around $1500 each week
Is that while you’re with your mentor?
Hi You have to do a pre trip for experience driver? Thanks
Yes you do
I have a question for you did you get your license through Swift or did you get it on your own from another trucking school
went to another trucking school
Was the training that you received in order to get hired through Swift free of cost and how long was your training for
They paid you for orientation on your first week?
I received it on the following Friday
My paperwork says they’ll do another dot physical. Is that true?
They do one. I got randomly selected to get tested though when I was out with my mentor.
What is your home time like?
wasn't the best. only home for 34 hour resets
How many were in your orientation and congratulations ?
8 others
How long it’s take you to go otr after orientation
If no experience it will take four weeks of driving with mentor. If you have experience you’ll go out within a couple of days.
I held all the stuff they give you. They take $200 out of your pay is that true. I'm about to start
They do. You can select how much they take out of each paycheck. I’m doing $20 each paycheck. After 6 months you get reimbursed for all of it.
So what should I bring and do I need steel toe shoes. Tee shirt or collar shirts.
Don’t forget the flip flops for orientation n driving test trainees very important
Hi did you already had your CDL or it was a swift academy?
I got it through a private academy just so I could learn on manual. Cool thing is Swift will reimburse you for it.
What kind of drug test hope not hair
I had hair on the initial one. Not sure if they still do it that way though
The pay good?
depends on account that they put you on
Hi, They request the GED?
They do
Do they pay good I want my CDL
They have positions that pay around 2k a week starting out. Go on their website career page to see what cdl positions are opened for swift out of your area!
The diesel man
How much you make a week ?
I’m not sure what exactly it will be. I just started training that will last three to five weeks. During the training period I get a fixed amount of $800 each week.
@@CAUZMO after training they guarante pay 1000$ a week for 6 months ?
Is there a contract that they make you sign for 6 months or a minimum year???
@@DANIELSAM329 yep. You should make more than that every week but that is just there in case your truck breaks down or something that is out of your control prevents you from running the truck.
@@corleonetrucker if you get your cdl with them there is
Does swift require steel toe shoes
nope!
Is it no touch freight?
You can choose. Some accounts like dollar tree are touch freight but most of them are not. Touch freight usually pays a little more.
@@CAUZMO ok ok and do you know the home time you get when training? Can I choose otr dedicated regional?
@@beast1o703 I got to go home after my first six days for a day and a half.
@@beast1o703 you can apply for accounts, regional, or otr positions on their website.
Swift disrespected me,
sorry to hear that
I hate paperlogs
This dude works for a company for a few months, makes a couple videos, then quits 😂
