Thank you Mira, this is a great comprehensive video about the Bont skates. I ordered a custom pair (black with pink stitching and back stripes). They’re so comfortable, and I love the ankle support. I wanted the Glide wheels since I practice on basketball courts and outdoor hockey rinks. I watched your video, even though we skate differently, because you gave a skater’s honest opinion and covered everything about the skates. You helped me make my purchase 😊

Thank you for this review! Especially mentioning the weight of the set-up as this was one of my main concerns.

Do you recommend these for derby play ?

Hi Mira! I got these yesterday from a skateshop where I did notice the sizing is strange. I had measured my foot according to the bont website and thought I was a 5 but in the shop I went down to a size 4. I got the discotrux and was able to circumvent the issue with the kingpin by inserting a washer at the base of the kingpin. This sounds ridiculously easy but it levelled out my kingpin height with my sliders which are the new ones from Brunny Hardcore (Australian brand). I had also hesitated to get new wide trucks because of this kingpin issue but had resolved to cut them down using a dremmel. (Shorty has a tutorial on this) Can I ask what type of skate you were in before these? I was in a Riedell 265 derby skate and am finding this a ridiculously disparity that will take me a while to navigate. My grind block is very low like yours and I"m not feeling like I can lock on as well -- I had this trouble going from an old Sure grip slider to the Discoblox slider so I'm confident I will adjust. I went with Bont because of the lower heel - I didn't like the high heel of the moxi's which seems to be the go-to now. Also they are much cheaper. Thanks for the great vid - I look forward to a long life in mine too!

Thank you for your feedback! I love the idea of using a washer, will definitely try this! Before skating in the Parkstars, I had already tried the Chaya Karmas and the Moxi Jackboots. The jackboots were the toughest boot to get used to (high heel + other type of boot). With the Bonts I had much less issues adjusting, they seem like a very good in-between of the Chaya Karmas (no heel) and the Jack boots. Enjoy your new setup!! 😊😊

When you got your toe stops, were they very low and did you adjust them?

When I got my Bonts, the toe stops were sticking out of my plate a lot, so yes, very low to the ground. I like my toestops very high/deep in the plate so indeed had to adjust them.
