- Etsy is one of the largest marketplaces for t-shirts, coffee mugs, apparel and fine art prints. You don't need a ton of inventory to list and sell on Etsy-using a print-on-demand supplier like Gelato, you can design and list products and offer your clients fantastic products with fast global shipping.
In this video, I walkthrough how to link your Etsy store into Gelato, create a t-shirt design and list it on Etsy. Gelato is a great option for your print-on-demand business.

Love the video❤️ I just started my print-on-demand journey and found Crafted Threads. They have a ton of designs and it saved me so much time. They have something in every niche. And lifetime updates too!!
very good explaining the steps, but I feel like you left out the cost of shipping? is that included in Gelato's cut?
It tells you on the gelato website how much shipping is
Awesome video! Question: Is the profit indicated in Gelato in this example your projected final profit? Does it take into account shipping and Etsy fees as well in your example?
Can you do a tutorial specifically on how to manage shipping costs? I can't seem to find any detailed instruction on how to determine how much shipping is to different locations. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks Zen, great Vid!!! Is there a way you can just send it to your draft first before going live. Also, do I just set up the shipping in Etsy or can I select that from Gelato? Thanks
Thank you. I just come from big cartel and this approach seems way better!🙏
Does anyone know if you still need to get use the "create shipping label" option after I make a sale on etsy if the order is being shipped and fulfilled by Gelato? Thanks so much!
Great video! however, I was looking for the part where one has to click an extra step so the product shows on Etsy, when customers visit the store (and there is a charge for it). I tried without it, and the product was not visible in my store, which makes sense, but it should be clearer on the steps.
appreciate for sharing this with us, excellent video
Hi Thank you for the video - I was good until publish - yours published by mine is asking me all kinds of questions .. It was easy to set up Gelato with Etsy but setting Etsy up with Gelato was a different story completely.
Thanks a lot.🙏🏼. The video is so helpful. Where do you get your designs from?
Hello! I make my own designs but also use resources like Creative Fabrica. I have a second channel where I do mostly design stuff: www.youtube.com/@craftystax
Nice vid thank you for sharing with us
wow, great video. thanks so much
THANKS A BUNCH, AMAZING VIDEO!!!
YES! JUST WHAT I NEEDED, TY!!!
ill definitely try that, thanks!
You forgot to mention that within minutes of posting an item you will receive SPAM looking like orders!!!
Just signed up today had over 10 messages claiming to be from Etsy Staff.

I got two saying I was blocked, deleted!
On esty u have to click that part that says who makes/ships product everytime
Something was published but it went to the Etsy store in Drafts. Not everythigng is filled out so it is not published on Etsy yet. Not all the mockups that was choosen showed up on Etsy either. Could you please make a video on what to do on Etsy in these types of situations, please? thanks
Thank you :) Does Gelato handle all customer service (including returns/issues)?
Great question - the answer is no - Gelato will print and ship the item. The buyer doesn't know or see Gelato. So if there is an issue, the seller needs to deal with it. So the profit margins are generally better than with sites like Redbubble, but the customer service investment is much greater.
I've just signed up to both Gelato and Etsy all setup and added some products. How do I apply a discount code such as the one mentioned in this video and what does that code give me? 60% off what? The first item I sell?
Hi - NEED HELP please, How come I see the listings on ETSY, but when I click on it, it shows item not available? It is frustrating.
Have you listed your quantity available greater than zero?
@@zenwatercooler where do I do that? And also I just saw that on shop manager in ETSY, I have to pay $20 to open the shop. When I use the ETSY seller app it won’t sign it because “no shop associated with this email address”. I guess I have to pay through credit card to open it.
Great video. Does Gelato receive their base cost at the same time the customer pays? I have seen comments on other POD sites that some expect the seller to pay upfront rather than when the customer buys something.
That is a great question - basically you would just pay the listing fee on Etsy (like 20 cents). Then when the customer buys something, Esty collects the payment and Gelato charges the seller. These happen at the same time basically. But you wouldn't pay anything to Gelato up front.
@@zenwatercooler Thank you! Gelato looks like a great option.
@Zen Watercooler I had the basically the same question and thank you for the answer. Just to clarify, customer pays for shirt > Etsy takes their cut > Gelato uses x amount they need to fulfill > you keep the rest?
And I won't need to pay upfront? Cause I know Etsy gives you the option on when you want to get paid and I chose next day. So the money Etsy gives me, I won't need to pay for anything as it's my 'profit' and Gelato already used the customers money to fulfill the order? (If this makes sense)
And if the customer wants a return for a different size? How do you manage? Working directly with gelato? They even allow these kind of returns?
You can do returns on Etsy or your website if you want (it’s your shop) but Gelato does not sell the shirt on a returnable basis. So you would need to either sell on a no return policy or eat the cost
you just convinced me on doing it
Sorry if I missed this but when you sell on Etsy let's say the T-shirt at $25 is there an extra charge when Gelato ships it out to the customer?
Great question - no you just pay for the product (and the shipping). And then you pocket the difference. So it's what you sell on Etsy less the fee, less the cost of the product. The shipping would be a wash and then the difference is the profit. Hope that helps!
@@zenwatercooler What about state/city sales tax? I'm in California, do I have to collect and pay sales tax?
great content. ty
The problem is i have done all that but it still asks me to enter origin post code when im not shipping
What are you trying to do? If you have created the product and are buying it for yourself, then you would need to enter your own address.
@@zenwatercooler i want it available to buy all over europe for my followers where ever they live
How do you set up the personal store? thanks
When I go to etsy it says the item is not avaible
Is processing orders at Gelato automatic like at Printify? like we don't need to click anything and everything will be processed automatically
Yes exactly - you sync up your store with Gelato and then when you make a sale, it just flows through to Gelato to print and ship. It's quite slick!
thank you, i have a qouestion please will gelato deal all the custmer service for me since i cant reply the qouestion from the customers daily ?
Hi there - no, Gelato will not handle customers. They print and ship the design only. Running a print-on-demand business is a ton of time and effort (and can be very rewarding) but there is an investment in customer service for sure.
thank you 😘
TY!!! AWESOME
Good business for gelato
Can you suggest any marketplace like Etsy cause it is not allowed in my country? Thank you 😊💞
Hello! Which country are you based in?
@@zenwatercooler Egypt
When i change the product in Gelato, will that automaticly update in Etsy?
I just signed up and yes it does update your etsy store
@@quicknswiftscope9846 Thanks!
Can I use my own custom made designs? Like public domain designs.....
Yes absolutely, in fact I think that is the best way to go (because you created a unique design based on public domain assets, so there should not be any copyright issues). Go for it!
@@zenwatercooler , thank you. And this one is good for beginners?
On Etsy Listings, under returns and exchanges, what should be put there?
Me personally, I don't offer refunds or exchanges. I put a disclaimer that these are made to order and I will happily deal with any defects. And I will put a size chart. 99% of people (at least in my experience) are cool with that!
@@zenwatercooler , if you are using something like Gelato how exactly do you fix the defects? And where can I find the disclaimer so I can read it, please? thanks
Is free to use Gelato ?
Gelato is a print-on-demand supplier, so you would have to buy the product (at their cost) and then typically you sell it for more. So it's free in the sense that you don't pay for a membership (unless you want to take advantage of premium options like discounted shipping). There is an overview of the premium services here: ruclips.net/video/MuRMD-48DWo/видео.html
really, thank you
Does the base price from Gelato also include the shipping costs?
No the shipping is extra and is based on your location (they have a bunch of local fulfilliment centers so the shipping is very quick in multiple countries and typically if it is printed locally, there are no customs or import fees).
@@zenwatercooler , when it comes to returns, exchanges and refunds, is it possible that i might look at your disclaimer, please? I need ideas and a structured disclaimer if I am to list anything. thanks
How Gelato help on customer returns >>> Return is the main issue no one talk about
Yes good point - Gelato does not accept returns, so you would need to make a decision as a business if you want to accept returns. I typically don't accept returns and I say that in the description - these are made to order, so make sure you want it before you buy it!
one of your videos you sayed that you hate etsy lol well ghey closed my account too😭
I don't hate Etsy, they just broke my heart years ago. I think Etsy is awesome. They just have issues (like every other print-on-demand marketplace out there). I personally don't sell a lot on Etsy anymore but I do help a few of my friends with their Etsy shops and they are doing fantastic (the more time/energy, typically the greater the return).
@@zenwatercooler you help me a lot and i really recommend yoir Chanel ❤️
Which marketplace are you using mostly ?
Are you okay with Etsy now?
Sort of - I mostly help a couple of my friends with their Etsy accounts but I am not currently selling anything on my store. I love Etsy but it's a huge time commitment. I do have issues with how the whole "strike" and "ban" thing works (as is true on any third-party platform).
Very poor quality printing with Gelato..if a quality product is your desire for your customers then I recommend trying another approach.
See 5 free uploads?????
To do it on etsy is the worst.. peoples forget about taxes.. you have to pay at your end, plus etsy takes it from your income as well.. if you like to pay double taxes then go ahead.. create your own store! It will stand out and you may sell more than on etsy.. etsy is not worth it anymore..
Hey, I saw you were sort of recent on here and wanted to ask a question... So i have a query: after selling a product on any marketplace.. does gelato take their cut and give us the rest, or do we have to pay any cost from our own bank accounts to them??
@@AgroJames-i1b all print on demand works same way. When a costumer orders trough your website he pays the full price you setted up. Then you have to place the order with your costumer details, at this stage you have to pay for the product that gelato charges you. So yes,you need money to start selling. You can do an automatated ordering as well where you deposit money to your gelato account and it takes it from there, the money you receive can go to your business bank account. You can do it in one bank account but then with tax and things will make it harder to separate
I would agree with this in the sense that all print on demand using a print on demand supplier works this way. So if you are selling on Etsy or your own website, you nailed it. If you are selling on Merch by Amazon or Redbubble, then you just design and if someone buys a product of yours, then you get paid a royalty (you are never out of pocket anything). Hope that helps!
Can you talk about Spreadshirt and if it better than redbubble or teespring and teepublic please?
