I use Gelato and Etsy. It kinda sucks that you have to pay upfront to Gelato, then get paid later by Etsy. I got a lot of orders recently and I had to pay a huge chunk out of pocket!
@@raesowards3485 yeah so lets say you sell a shirt for $30 on Etsy. What is their return policy like? So if I'm a seller in the US, and someone from Australia buys a shirt I understand it'll be printed and shipped locally. But then if the person wants to return it and get a refund, exactly how does that sort itself out? Does it get returned to the local manufacturer and I refund the customer? Just curious where the product ends up at if the customers returns and wants a refund.
So this is the same with all PODs, but for buyers remorse (the customer just doesn’t want it) it would have to come back to you, no matter where you are located. Gelato will take care of any quality issues, but anything that falls on the customer would be between your business and the customer. im between this and printify, and im having hard time deciding, my main issue is their paper type and lack of options. but then printify is mostly based in us and Canada wich makes it a hassle to sell in Europe ....
Gelato almost sounds too good to be true. One thing I am trying to find out, though is... where do they get their products from? Okay, the printing is done mostly locally, but what about the hoodies etc.? When they say production... do they mean the complete production? Edit: alright i think i got my answer when i saw the mug. too bad, not for me. thank you for this video.
yeah... i know. i thought maybe there are other countries you can bulk buy in and get some discount. would've maybe been okay with turkey but i am not okay with most other asian countries. i'd want fair conditions for them too and not just for the printing + shipping. i know spreadshirt works with turkish manufacturers but you can't say you want turkish products only, can you? and how's the transparency in regards to fair working conditions? i guess for now this isn't for me. @@absolutefreedom8035
When shipping internationally (aka outside USA), how you setup a global pricing point?... when you start switching countries and currencies in pricing screen, production and shipping cost varies a lot.
You can setup specific shipping cost per country, but generally your pricing will need to stay the same. I just make sure I’m covering the higher shipping. If you’re using Gelato, shipping is similar no matter where you are selling, due to them having print partners locally around the world.
thanks that makes sense. im trying to setup an all inclusive global free delivery price point and remain competitive. with production cost varuing im in need to tweak retail prices per countries . but guess that feature does not exist
@@JuanchoGarVi cannot be done at global reach. only within a specific country. I just play with min delivery fees covering Gelato's Cost charging my customers (still cheap) and rest baked into the retail price. Still have an issues with huge variability with global stock management sync (gelato vs shopify vs google merchant). I have customers ordered a product that was deemed not in stock after customer paid.
Great video!!! I am 16 years old and have been thinking about creating a small clothing brand. The main problem for me is finding the manufacture, everything else is almost good. Is there a way to contact the manufacturer? I have watched many videos about how to find the right manufacturer and every single one of them said to actually FaceTime them to see their factories and if they are valid. Also, another important thing is if they do split payments. From the videos, they said it is better to pay the manufacturer into 3 different categories. Pay them once when they print, second when they pack, and third when they ship it out. I just want to make sure I find a trustful manufacturer and not get scammed or anything like that. But thanks for the great video!
If only they were not so expensive. Printify still wins out in that regard and also has global coverage. Gelato and Printify also use the same platform. You can actually download the script and setup your own POD site, if you were crazy enough. LOL
sampled 4 shirts and all were pretty bad prints. streaks, too much contrast on color over saturated, lost of details. honestly not very happy with my order. dont understand why quality control didnt catch this.
How about the orders, are they automatically paid to the gelato when the order is placed. I made an online store on shopify, downloaded the print on demand application (connected gelato with shopify), when I tested the first product, gelato only sends an order without this order being processed.
Your business pays the Print On Demand Company, and you get paid from Shopify typically 48 hours after the order is placed. The way around fronting the money for the order would be to set your order fulfillment to manual. This would allow you to wait until Shopify pays your business, and then you would manually begin processing through Gelato.
Gelato has a direct integration with Shopify. There are a couple of ways to go about processing. Once orders are placed, the first option would be to have a credit card on file to automatically cover upfront cost and start the order process. You could also wait 48 hours for Shopify to pay you using the manual fulfillment option.
The biggest problem I find with these print on demand companies is that there is no shipping box customized by the brand, which makes the shipping look unprofessional.
Did you cut of the label of the tshirt manufacturer? On my sample order, all shirts have the Tags on, which makes it feel "poor" because it doesn't represent my Brand... Any advice?
@@KerryEgeler on my sample i have no label... the canadien and EU law requires mandatory information on any Under the Textile Labelling Act, the following must be labelled before they are sold in Canada to consumers: any textile fibre, yarn or fabric any product made in whole or in part from a textile fibre, yarn or fabric. This is to enable consumers to choose items according to their fibre content and to protect them from false claims.
I made a great T shirt design for myself, on a shirt that appeared to be available here in France. Right at the end of the process when trying to ship, it suddenly wasn't! What a waste of my time.
Hi there everyone I started using Gelato for my print on demand products but I have one issue. My customer who lives in United Kingdom ordered a t-shirt but its going to be shipped from Norway. I would like some advice how to resolve this and why the t-shirt was not made in UK. I am sure Gelato has factories within UK too. Thanks
They use third party printers. They have very little control over printing and shipping once orders are placed. Told me they couldn’t find out about order until 6 days after it had shipped. Once you place the order you’re at the mercy of the shipper. Took 9 days coming from 2 states away, and it was incorrect. Got different answers from different people with them. The site is good but it has limited options.
@@KerryEgeler most may use third party printers, but my point was gelato didn’t have any control after my order was placed, and didn’t seem to care. Nothing was done with my order until almost 4 days after it was placed. Until I kept sending emails because I noticed through the tracking number that it stayed in the same status for days. I understand you are promoting them but I’ve heard many complaints. Be sure to tell both sides
I don’t believe any kind of print on demand is truly passive. Gelato is a print on demand company, not a marketplace. They simply help you source your products and they ship to your customer for you.
i think the print area on the gelato shirts seems very high up, very near the neck seam, yours doesn't look high, i have a short wide logo and i'm not sure now where to place it, i keep moving it about, doesn't look correct right up by the neck, prntify has a much lower print area, god its so confusing

yeah... i know. i thought maybe there are other countries you can bulk buy in and get some discount. would've maybe been okay with turkey but i am not okay with most other asian countries. i'd want fair conditions for them too and not just for the printing + shipping. i know spreadshirt works with turkish manufacturers but you can't say you want turkish products only, can you? and how's the transparency in regards to fair working conditions? i guess for now this isn't for me.
@@maxx_thor did you manage to include free delivery ?
@@JuanchoGarVi cannot be done at global reach. only within a specific country. I just play with min delivery fees covering Gelato's Cost charging my customers (still cheap) and rest baked into the retail price. Still have an issues with huge variability with global stock management sync (gelato vs shopify vs google merchant). I have customers ordered a product that was deemed not in stock after customer paid.
Hi, could I do this using Stan store?
App does not work in my iPhone 11. It does not allow download pictures without chrash imidiaely you try to open photogallery on your phone.
This is not something I’m experienced in as I focus more on POD.
thank u so much .. helped a lot..
Glad it helped!
Looks like imma try Gelato for a bit
I've had a really good experience with them! Some of the best customer service I've seen.
how is it so far
Thank you for this review..
Glad it was helpful!
If only they were not so expensive. Printify still wins out in that regard and also has global coverage. Gelato and Printify also use the same platform. You can actually download the script and setup your own POD site, if you were crazy enough. LOL
Gelato is not expensive. Consistently one of the best prices PODs. Also Gelato & Printify are very different and do not share a platform at all.
sampled 4 shirts and all were pretty bad prints. streaks, too much contrast on color over saturated, lost of details. honestly not very happy with my order. dont understand why quality control didnt catch this.
I was wondering how payment works
Gelato has a direct integration with Shopify. There are a couple of ways to go about processing. Once orders are placed, the first option would be to have a credit card on file to automatically cover upfront cost and start the order process. You could also wait 48 hours for Shopify to pay you using the manual fulfillment option.
Who pays for the shipping and printing?
Your business pays the Print On Demand Company, and you get paid from Shopify
There’s two way to do print on demand, passive and active
The biggest problem I find with these print on demand companies is that there is no shipping box customized by the brand, which makes the shipping look unprofessional.
Soooo great looking shipping packaging over sales, is your issue?
Ok
@@keebmarketing didnt get your point sry, can u reformulate?
I just got some samples and unfortunately they did not survive the wash test. The print is ruined
I would email their support team. Any time we've seen quality issues, they have been great about making it right.
Did you cut of the label of the tshirt manufacturer? On my sample order, all shirts have the Tags on, which makes it feel "poor" because it doesn't represent my Brand... Any advice?
These labels were done through Gelato's custom labeling option. One of my favorite features!
@@KerryEgeler where do you find this Option? I only have Custom Branding for Posters :/
@@KerryEgeler on my sample i have no label... the canadien and EU law requires mandatory information on any Under the Textile Labelling Act, the following must be labelled before they are sold in Canada to consumers: any textile fibre, yarn or fabric
any product made in whole or in part from a textile fibre, yarn or fabric.
This is to enable consumers to choose items according to their fibre content and to protect them from false claims.
I'm starting out in South Africa I'm kinda lost
I made a great T shirt design for myself, on a shirt that appeared to be available here in France. Right at the end of the process when trying to ship, it suddenly wasn't! What a waste of my time.
Hi there everyone
I started using Gelato for my print on demand products but I have one issue. My customer who lives in United Kingdom ordered a t-shirt but its going to be shipped from Norway. I would like some advice how to resolve this and why the t-shirt was not made in UK. I am sure Gelato has factories within UK too.
Thanks
I would contact Gelato support. Here's the link: www.gelato.com/contact
Wish the catalog was larger
Where do you make your store
I prefer Shopify. You can check out this free class on store setup at www.kerryegeler.com/shirtschool
How much money can you make using this App
They use third party printers. They have very little control over printing and shipping once orders are placed. Told me they couldn’t find out about order until 6 days after it had shipped. Once you place the order you’re at the mercy of the shipper. Took 9 days coming from 2 states away, and it was incorrect. Got different answers from different people with them. The site is good but it has limited options.
Almost all PODs use third party printers, they just don’t disclose that to their customers.
Be sure to tell both sides
you can tell this is a sponsored video when everything you say about it is perfect.
I literally added an entire “cons” section to provide counter points
@@KerryEgeler Oh I missed that. Sorry
Is Gelato passive or Not ??
I don’t believe any kind of print on demand is truly passive. Gelato is a print on demand company, not a marketplace. They simply help you source your products and they ship to your customer for you.
@@KerryEgelerTee Republic is
i think the print area on the gelato shirts seems very high up, very near the neck seam, yours doesn't look high, i have a short wide logo and i'm not sure now where to place it, i keep moving it about, doesn't look correct right up by the neck, prntify has a much lower print area, god its so confusing
A good general rule of thumb for design placement would be having the top of your design hit about 4 fingers below the collar.
@@KerryEgeler oh thanks
12 days now no tracking nothing from my samples
I would reach out to Gelato support. I've had a great experience with their customer service. Here's the link: support.gelato.com/en/
Kerry, can the CUSTOMER upload their own images with Gelato, or just me?
Yes they absolutely can. You can set it up to be customizable by the customer
@@KerryEgeler Excellent, thanks a bunch. I am using SPOD but shipping to Euro is rough, so am looking at using another for Europe. And I see Gelato has a lot more items. So I'll launch with SPOD, then add Gelato. If you have an aff link, happy to use it?
My only complaint is they don’t have a lot of products to choose from
One thing I like about Gelato is that you can see upcoming additions to their product catalog. You can find those under Products> Coming Soon at www.gelato.com/custom
is gelato free?
Yes, signing up and using Gelato is free. You'll only incur costs for the products themselves and the associated shipping fees when you place an order.
If i wanna success with it, i must sell these at $10, i cant sell it as a beginner with $20
Can you do me a favor and look at this video titled don’t use print on demand in 2023 by hustle ninjas cause I want to see if you’re saying to use it, is what he is saying true and of course you’ll say it’s not, why?
The worst POD company in the world! They stop print your art without the reason, don’t inform you about this, so when your customers place orders, you’ll have to refund purchase! If you’re art is about gay community, nude art , you can be sure they will be not printing your artwork! Unprofessional !!! Don’t waste your time with this company .
Gelato horrible service! they lost my first order after 1 month of waiting.
They have been AWFUL in the UK…
Sorry to hear that
how so? im thinking about using them in the uk...
@@MozzasMowingMusical the communication was awful, they had 0 contact with the production centres kept telling me they were made and shipped, then they were made but not shipped, then they weren’t even made factory was having trouble, then they were refunded the shipping, then after being weeks late at this point I just ended up cancelling and I’m now looking for another option, it won’t work for everyone but I’m even looking into doing it myself 🤣
