The FZR 600 is the first real world 600 cc SuperSports bike. So was never intended for touring. I owned one back in 1991/1992. And have my current 1989 model for 14 years now. having a life time experience of ownership of them I would say by todays standard the FZR is lighthearted 😊.

Thanks for your Comment. The fzr 600 was my first bike I love it. It always has a place in my heart. Thinking about doing a full review at some point.

FZR from 1993 (3HE) is my second speeder (the first was CBR 600 RR PC37). The gearbox is hopeless in Yamaha - to fix it you have to remove and disassemble the whole engine and it costs PLN 2-3k. The motorcycle itself cost me PLN 3,300 and its repair is worthless but I miss it.

Actually dropping in a new motor with a new gearbox is way cheaper. Especially because the price for the fzr in Europe is really low so it’s easy to get a new motor with a gearbox for 200 euros. Building in is where it can be pricey but still less than this. Or you could try That yourself

@@FreeMilesMC The same was said by the mechanic from whom I found out how expensive it is to repair the gearbox (the repair price also includes gaskets because the engine is leaking and labor costs). The cheapest used motors I found for about 1500 PLN (320 EUR), and it is not known what condition this "new" one will be in. The problem with the FZR gearboxes is that the engine is a whole block, unlike newer motorcycles such as the CBR 1000 RR with a cassette gearbox, where the repair is much cheaper and you do not have to remove the entire engine from the frame. The mechanic estimated the cost of just removing the engine from the frame at PLN 500 (about 106 EUR), and putting it in the frame for the same amount. Also, as you can see, I will not buy old equipment in the future, because even though the cost of buying such a Yamaha is cheap, the cost of repair exceeds its value (the same is with cheap cars - if you buy a cheap car, it will probably be junk that can be repaired right away).

Yes I hundert percent agree they, are not worth buying with the pricy maintenance. But they are also not worth selling because I would not be giving my fzr away for 400 bucks or what they currently go for. I am also very sentimental about my fzr because it is the first bike I have gotten after my license. Even tho it’s a terrible beginners bike, I really love mine. The fzr is so awsome

They're *much* more expensive in the US. One that runs but needs work and is cosmetically gross, sells for about $1,500 here. A well-preserved example would cost more than a brand new 600.
I got mine on trade; all of the plastics are missing, only a few of the lights work, and the clutch is currently very stuck. Totally worth it, I love it *so* much already.

Same on my 1994 bike after 3rd gear. Shifts super-quick and does not damage anything.

I have a Street Triple RX and funny enough, I also want a machine like that. I´m nearly or exactly the same age as this bikes.
Like you said, there is something about these machines. I assume that this bikes will soon increase in value or at least eventually find their generation of buyers (Generation Y and Kids from the 90s).

I ride my fzr600 everyday and I kill it, she’s what you’d expect from a 26 year old machine. She does let go sometimes and throws me a new problem every week lol but we get through it and we ride again. Always keep a donor bike for parts

Wish I saw this sooner. The fact that this guy is all over the center line on the bike tells me he has no right being on a motorcycle. Next time you cross over the line on a turn say hello to the on coming car that you are about to hit! Slow it down drive with a brain.

Bro they’re like back woods farm roads that he’s on and it looks like he knows them pretty well. I agree it’s dangerous but holy moly don’t come at him with such a condescending attitude
