  • Welcome to another new bike reveal!
That's right, Kenny has bought another motorbike! After swearing away sports bikes for a while; I didn't believe Ken when he told me he'd bought another project.
The R1 is possibly Yamaha's most popular bike, but what a lot of people don't realise is that the FZR came first, as Yamaha's flagship model. The FZR1000 is often considered the R1's father.
Join us as we take a look around this classic, start it up, and of course run through the issues!

I loved my 1002cc FZR and when that exup valve kicked in it was fab.

On my mt10 I took the wires off the servo to the exup flap and lock wired the flap open, took a flat spot away.
Later put a decat pipe on that done away with it all. It's something free to try 1st I guess.

Great video ! I bought an 88 and 90 models new back in the day. Even by todays standards, the handling is great. Thanks for the memories. I'm 75 years old now and ride a ZX-14r, need that comfort to go with the rush.

Owned the pre-1989 FZR1000 EXUP in red and while (best colors) and even the FZ750 (Serius 1) prior to that. They were 'pure magic', even compared to other sports bikes I owned.

When i was 17 I took the new 85 GSX-R750 out for a test ride, with the intent of trading in my GPz-750 for one. At the same time my mate took an FZ750 out for a test ride, we met up on the edge of town and for the next hour thrashed both of them, swapping between bikes. In the end it was the FZ i ended up getting, fantastic bike. I'm restoring an 87 FZR1000 at the moment, love 5 valve Yamahas.

here in the colonies we pulled the 1000 motors out of a bunch of these, and stuffed them into OW chassis and used them as endurance racers

hello guys nice bike I had an 91 fzr back in the day and the problem I had was the emulsion tubes were worn out and Oval, the tubes that the needle goes through i mean.
if you feather the throttle at about 4,000 the bike would Lurch and then it would come right after about 5000.
    I think Dynojet do a kit ?
    Cheers from New Zealand

Yamaha invented the 5 valve concept, the first road bike to use it was the 1985 FZ750. I wonder if Audi/VW & Ferrari payed Yamaha to use it🤔😆. Toyota, being big buddies with Yamaha, probably didn't, they helped Toyota develop the GT2000, Toyota's real sports car, and have been helping Toyota develop their engines ever since, the LFA V10 is a Yamaha designed engine.
Also EXUP stands for, Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve. Nearly all the other manufactures started using a version of it as soon as the patent on it ran out after 10 years.

Actually thats the R1's Grandad. The YZF1000R Thunderace was the R1's Dad.

    • @accelerateyoutube
      @accelerateyoutube  Месяц назад

The Thunderace was just an infill while the R1 was being made, so that's more like a stepdad lol.
      Thanks
