  • In the final episode, I sort the bodywork, lights and all the remaining accessories in order to get it out on the road for its first spin. The cold and wet weather's hit now though so I'll be waiting until the spring to put some serious miles on it!
    Welcome to Project FZR1000. Follow my progress as I restore my 27 year old super bike back to it's former glory.

    Great series Tom!! I'm just finishing up my 1984 Yamaha Virago 1000 and looking at a 1987 FZR1000. I was on the fence about the FZR but after watching your videos, I think that's my next restoration. Thanks for all the great content!!

    Test rode a version of this bike back in the 90's. My initial impression was.
    I felt like I had owned this bike for ten year's already. It was that good in my opinion.

    I flippin love the Yamahas from this era. I've got a foxeye 600 from the same year, I've had it forever. I've recently got it back on the road after too many years in the garage. Just so good to ride without feeling like kids bike on speed like the more modern 600s.
    I'm currently entertaining myself by replacing a lot of crusty fasteners with nice shiny ones, easy wins!

    Hi Tom I just stumbled upon your video series on your FZR restore. Loved it. I have an 87 FZR 1000 I rode into the shed and parked it 10 years ago. I am going to need to do some major work to get it back on the road but at least mine is not in as bad condition as yours started out. Thanks for the inspiration. .

    Fan-f%&king-tastic!! I'm happy you have her finished but sad that this part of the journey is over. I love watching the restoration videos, especially ones like these, no fancy equipment or facilities, just a bloke in his shed figuring his way around problems, love it! Well done, can't wait for the Ninja project (see if you find it easier than the one I did). Please do post vids of the Yamaha out on the road in all her glory 😎

    Hey Tom!! Just got my '87 Genesis stripped and the shock/spring is toast. It's a completely sealed OEM unit and not restorable/repairable. Where did you source your shocks from? It looks like I'll have to replace mine too.

    • @tomsworkshopprojects
      @tomsworkshopprojects  Год назад +1

      Oh no, yeah my FZR one was junk too. I got mine from Brook Suspension in the UK, but I imagine YSS or Nitron have suppliers your side of the pond?

      @@tomsworkshopprojects Thanks...I'll have a look. Strange that we Canadians are supposed to have a "free trade" agreement with the US. For the most part I've been able to get stuff shipped from Europe and China cheaper than having it shipped 200 miles across the border. Weird. Thanks for the insight. I'll have a look at both. Cheers.
