I love gears of war but especially the old classics 1-3 but gears ultimate edition is so beautiful to play. I would really like a gears of war 2 ultimate edition.

Gears of war was the first game I got with my Xbox 360 back in 2007 and my god what a game, mad hype at school I use to come home and play it all night with my friends online it was revolutionary and so ahead of its time good old days

A shooter with one of the greatest stories and lore in gaming. We don't get these anymore this is back when games told stories (golden age) now it's little or no story and Fortnite/PUBG clones (bronze age). The bronze medal isn't bad it's just slightly darker rust looking gold LOL. No school like the old school

I don't remember much about the campaign but it's mostly about finding the girls mom who gets captured at the beginning, also most of the campaign was fighting robots which I personally disliked. I never played the 5th game but from what I've heard the campaign is just worse overall. What really pissed me off though was that they removed Marcus as the face of Gears of War and replaced him with the girl. To me that was the most disrespectful thing to happen with gears.

The books are excellent and add more lore to the play through a and good reads. Compared to what the current campaign is, it’s definitely much different and more expanded but feels like it went overboard with them coming back and maybe some content in between like Marcus settling down or JD early early years as a COG. There felt more story building to the early games in my opinion
I only got into the franchise 2 years ago but I feel like I’ve known it since it first came out in 2006. Other than halo this is my 3rd favorite game series

We're definitely doing Gears 4 in 4k, but not 2 or 3 for now. Since it didn't get the Ultimate Edition treatment, doing them in 4k really won't improve much of the quality.
I haven’t seen any comments clearly explaining what the OG and Remake do better so I’m going to make a clear list Gears OG: the cutscenes are longer and more natural. When Hoffman says get it done - I want you to give me 110% Fenix! It’s a lot quicker and more unatural in the Ultimate edition The music: the music in the OG uses the gritty music you’ve come to know a lot better. When dom breaks Marcus out of jail the eerie music plays the whole time. In the ultimate edition the music is gone The 2000s “Saw” shot: Becsuse of the OG’a budget and limitations with the graphics engine at the time they do a lot camera zooming and shaky cam. Example of this would be when the berserker cutscene happens. In the OG it’s shaky and very horror centric with its shots. Giving the perception the berserker is a rabid beast. Also the way the original shows the depressing state of the war and what it once was is handled better. In the Kim death cutscene it starts out with Marcus having flashbacks to the time everything wasn’t in ruin. Getting slightly more saturated with color. In ultimate these flashes don’t happen. Berserker cutscene: in the original as I stated the shaky camera is way better. But on top of this one thing the original does better is the over the top violence to make you terrified of the berserker. When it kills the cog who runs away, the berserker takes the cog for about 8 seconds and rips him apart. It’s so over the top and the amount of blood that comes is unrealistic but extremely disturbing. Also the bomber cutscene in the original is way better IMO. There’s and extra second or two to register the cute rat so when he dies it is more impactful (sounds stupid but watch both it’s true.) also the shot of them walking is way more intimidating IMO than in the remake. I also like how they warn Baird and dom of boomers as there walking to further show how scared the gears are of boomers. Overall gears OG has way worse graphics but a way better horror vibe and gritty element ULTIMATE EDITION: ULtimate does a better job of adding little details and obvious graphics enhancements. One small detail I like to point out is you can actually see Baird grab the tunnel data as they leave after setting the resonator. The small cutscene with raam after the resonator is also way better In ultimate. Instead of shooting the cog with a Boltok like in the original, they demonstrate raams strength by easily snapping his neck. An obvious improvement. Although the Kim death cutscene overall is better in the original, the actual skirmish between him and raam is a lot better in the remake. Kim tried to chainsaw him first and then as he is stabbed he spits on raams face. After that I can’t think of too many specific examples but obviously the graphics of how people move and stuff is way better than the OG The OG as stated doesn’t nail the horror aspects quite as well as gears OG, but makes for a way more immersive experience nonetheless. Both games have there strong suits and I enjoy playing both still when I’m in different moods. The coalition overall did an excellent job on there remake. Obviously nothing will be perfect and it’s easy to nitpick when it’s all said and done, but overall it is an extremely solid remake that adds a lot to the experience of the game. The og due to limitations was just able to make a more gritty game for the time.
You basically took the words right out of my mouth regarding the pros and cons between both versions of the game. Honestly it's such a shame that after Gears 2 Epic Games toned down the horror aspect of the series. Gears 3 has a bunch of shocking moments, but in general we aren't getting something as horrific like Tai commiting suicide, or flashbacks per say of Wretches eating the corpses of dead humans. Hell in Judgement the only real horrific thing that really stood out for me was seeing Professor Eliots dead body and finding out he committed suicide because he knew that it was only a matter of time before the Locusts would get to him. And of course the haunting message of his wife panicking because the shelter she and their kids were at was about to be over run by Locust and that the only reason they were even there was because he told them to go there and that it would be safe.
Another thing about Kim's death is after He gets kicked down And RAAM grabs him you can see he tried to pull out his snub but he drops it and you can see that, The ultimate edition also has more Detail during the fight like you can see they are actually hitting some locust, the only problem I had is Before in the original Kim was falling back because he had no cover but in the remake he has cover but he still has somewhere he's trying to go
I think ultimate ruined the whole game. Like The hammer burst has no recoil. Totally ruins the mechanics of shooting. Everything is changed. The lancer is changed. Everything that made the first game unique to the others is changed and blended to match two and three. Like compare coles introduction in ashes to the remaster. They ruined everything. Everything is changed around in the worst way possible Remasters are a way for these nerd devs to flex their skills and ads their own personal touches to the game. What they would want. Not what would actually be correct and good. It's literally like watching a deviant art artists version of the game. And the 2006 graphics on pc still hold up. Plus grenades don't shake the screen, don't have a good explosions sound, and the sound for a gib sounds like shit. Gibs don't look good either. They changed the gun mechanics and hit detection for ultimate too. Everythings just different. It doesn't capture the old games feel at all. And it certainly shouldn't overshadow the original or be thought of as the modern way to play a game that's not even 20 years old. It's disrespectful to the people who made the first game, and to what started the series. The pauses and choppy parts of dialogue are iconic. Now they try to string it all together too quick to appear more natural? Like Hoffman and Marcus confrontation in the beginning is RUINED RUINED. thanks to lame post 2010 age game devs and the entire philosophy behind post 2010 creativity. It's obvious that no one can really add anything, so they just try enhance. Lame. So lame. Of course new devs today can't make anything good either, as shown by 4 and 5 being flops.
I agree with literally all this but i do also think when the resonator goes off on the remake its better with the sound of it blasting the tunnels also it destroying that electrical post above ground.
I remember when my sister and I played this game together especially horde mode gears 2. She would laugh so hard and sometimes piss her pants because I would mimic the war cries of Marcus and his quotes but then I would squeal when I am at the moments of death while’s she’s inside the security safe area with the lasers.
Currently playing Gears 5 on the Series S, it looks great and is a really good game. I would love it though if we got a 4K remastered Gears of War 1-3 trilogy, that would be brilliant!

These guys really got the commando elite war brainiac insanity accomplished whens they'd being shots the locaust creatures but unbeatable than they'd started to target at the legs definitely slower that creature movement that'd being given the time needed.
Its weird that Marcus doesn't know about the kryll, despite being there for E-Day; Since Raams shadow takes place about a month(?) or so, and he's actively using a shield, does that mean they won't be in E-Day? Just wondering about the continuity error that'll probably occur
I noticed that the queen's eyes turns from hazel to black and then back to hazel color, when she says "we fight and fight and win..". There is some background to it I guess.
I love the fact that Marcus just came out of prison yet has a perfectly shaped beard or stubble that's cut into a square. He said to Dom you don't want to know what happens in the prison yet he's clean shaven lol it's things like that I hope they put right in future games because believe me people do pick up on them or maybe it's just me hahahaha

Gears 1-3 were such dark games. The new ones are so light hearted and jokey. Huge difference between gears 1-3 and 4-5 even if the core gameplay is the same.
I forgot how much I hated Lt. Kim. he was such a yes man and kind of a douche. Also.... just didn't seem to smart compared to Marcus or Baird. Honestly, I was kinda whatever when he died. 😅
Not only switched they marcus' rank during it,but also who freed him from the slab. They literally pasted anja into the scene, who wasn't even on field duty then to get him ot an overrun prison without weapons or back up. They had him privat here as a seasoned soldier who was already a warhero during the previous war n made it lieutenant in part3s version of that scene. That way they couldn't even explain it as demotion being part of his sentence. On top he is sergeant in the novels which came b4 part3, so instead to make adjustments to better fit books n games together it seems they deliberately made it even more wrong in the 3rd game,wtf!? Part4 already in its intro tries to break records in inconsistency n claims totally new dates for the end of the previous war n e day. No big deal i guess, only the two most important days of nearly a century. Even with the games being it, i'd rather count the novelizations canon. If the sourcematerial is inconsistent like that, the author has no choice but to diverge, somewhere. So with that inevitability, it was a good call to give marcus an entirely different rank,which makes more sense in regards to his military carriere. He already is more senior than all his squadmates n even without demotion, lieutenant doesn't fit. I'm not even so sure to what parts the games really were source n what travissmade entirely herself n perhsps just finetuned a bit.
We ran the game on max settings and the frames were to inconsistent so we decided to go with the steady 30fps instead of 60. Gears 4 on max settings ran at a perfect 60. Seems like ultimate wasn’t optimized that great.

Not only switched they marcus' rank during it,but also who freed him from the slab. They literally pasted anja into the scene, who wasn't even on field duty then to get him ot an overrun prison without weapons or back up. They had him privat here as a seasoned soldier who was already a warhero during the previous war n made it lieutenant in part3s version of that scene. That way they couldn't even explain it as demotion being part of his sentence. On top he is sergeant in the novels which came b4 part3, so instead to make adjustments to better fit books n games together it seems they deliberately made it even more wrong in the 3rd game,wtf!?
Part4 already in its intro tries to break records in inconsistency n claims totally new dates for the end of the previous war n e day. No big deal i guess, only the two most important days of nearly a century.
Even with the games being it, i'd rather count the novelizations canon. If the sourcematerial is inconsistent like that, the author has no choice but to diverge, somewhere.
So with that inevitability, it was a good call to give marcus an entirely different rank,which makes more sense in regards to his military carriere. He already is more senior than all his squadmates n even without demotion, lieutenant doesn't fit.
I'm not even so sure to what parts the games really were source n what travissmade entirely herself n perhsps just finetuned a bit.

We ran the game on max settings and the frames were to inconsistent so we decided to go with the steady 30fps instead of 60. Gears 4 on max settings ran at a perfect 60. Seems like ultimate wasn’t optimized that great.
