  • Tremec FINALLY made it! The Magnum "F" made to directly fit 4th gen F-body cars and thousands of engine swapped vehicles of all makes that need that same shifter position as the original factory Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission!
    We were lucky enough to get our hands on a pre-production prototype to install just in time for Holley's LS Fest West in Vegas this weekend (May 3-5th 2019) where we'll be giving this thing a proper test! If all goes as planned expect to see the new Magnum "F" (or whatever they end up calling it) at dealers by the end of summer 2019!!

    I have one of the very first LS RX-7 conversions. I’m the second owner, and bought it in 2004. It’s basically a bone stock looking 1993 Touring (Red) with heads & can LS-1. Stock displacement. Currently getting nitrous, Kaaz Diff with 3.90 gears, and high hp axle & hub kit from Driveshaft Shop. Would love to add a Magnum F someday.

    Thanks for the video. I'm getting the parts together for a Tremec T56 Magnum install on my 55' Chevy Truck with a Crate 350. Good information about shifter location in order to have crisper shifts. I will be mindful of that.

    Nice video! You guys forgot to make sure that the bellhousing is first parallel and then concentric to the flywheel and pilot bearing. Hopefully you guys are not having shifting issues because an offset T56 Magnum will eventually destroy the pilot bearing and cause problems. Also the T56 Magnums require 4 quarts of fluid and not just the fill until spill from the upper port.

  • @shanerorko8076
    @shanerorko8076 3 года назад

    The procedure for filling the OE TR6060 is to fill it to the plug level then open the higher plug and add 500ml.
    I assume it is the same for these.

    It finally exists! I have been on the waiting list for soooo long I was having doubts it would ever happen. I would really like to hear about high rev shifting a how that feels and how long it takes. I am not saying bag on it ... but surely it would be irresponsible to goto ls-fest west without the knowledge of a few scientific 6k shifts... you know for science

    • @michaellecompte1889

      MotoIQ Yes, but what about the shifter location. I believe the 2JZ/T56mag requires a 4” sikky shifter.
      If the t56 mag F puts the shifter in the right place than it saves you $500.

    I am new to Tremec, what is the difference between a T56 magnum and a TR6060

    • @motoiq
      @motoiq  5 лет назад +4

      The TR-6060 is basically application specific since they were made for production cars. As such it usually had an integrated bellhousing, gear ratios, shifter configuration and rear mount specific to the make/model vehicle it was meant for. The Magnum is made with the bellhousing separate, a couple different gear ratio options, up to 3 shifter positions and a more universal rear mount. The Magnum also has both electronic and mechanical speedometer pickups; the TR-6060 on has electronic.

    • @FELiPES101
      @FELiPES101 5 лет назад

      You should use your stock trans until it pops then get a magnum which will hold basic supercharger mods no problem

    • @rycetr
      @rycetr 5 лет назад +1

      FELiPES101 is right, except for one small detail. You want the Magnum XL. It is a longer version of the regular Magnum that puts the shifter in the right location. You can get it as a complete kit with blowproof bell, shifter and crossmember from Tremec. Have to recalibrate the speedo on a 2011-up car. Also need a 26-spline clutch and driveshaft with slip yoke. Its a sweet trans, but like FELiPES said, you may as well rag on your MT82 until it sh-ts the bed.

    • @bigogtt4905
      @bigogtt4905 5 лет назад

      @@rycetr Thanks for the help. What kind of aftermarket driveshaft would I need or does it matter as long as it has the slip yoke

    • @rycetr
      @rycetr 5 лет назад

      If you mean "what material", unless you have a craving for something exotic like carbon fiber, then most of what you'll find in the market is aluminum, which is perfect fine. The one I use came from Dynotech in Michigan, but any reputable shop can get you one so long as you provide the measurements. If you are at all uncomfortable with that, just get everything in one shot from a TREMEC distributor. That's their job, to support you all the way through the sale, not just sell you the parts.
