    Back in fall 2019, we set out on a 17-day backcountry canoe trip through Algonquin Park, Canada. The beauty of Ontario is tenfold during Fall. Although we knew there would be the added challenge of colder weather, we wanted to avoid the crowds of summer and the mosquitoes, have our choice of campsites, and see the change of the colours. We were not disappointed.
    After weeks planning this trip, weeks living alone in the wild, and months editing this film, we’re finally proud to show you our baby.
    We hope you enjoy watching this as much as Elena enjoyed complaining about the lack of cheese on this adventure.

    Hey guys! I came across your feed from the Yes Theory channel/groups!
    This video was awesome! As someone who's dying to go back to Algonquin park (I'm from Montreal!), this was a treat to watch. Great quality and storytelling as well. Where are you guys from/located?? Keep it up!
    As for a bit on myself (my name is William!), I started making content with the aim of teaching people to break free of societal norms by seeking discomfort & testing their own limits! A few months after starting, my friends told me to check out this channel called Yes Theory as they said my content reminded them of it.. and like you, I’ve been so inspired by the lifestyle they preach!!
    Hope you have an awesome day and you are awesome, keep being you! 😁☝🏻

Although we are currently located in Berlin (Germany) Algonquin Park is one of our favourite places to visit and cannot wait to go back also.

    Wow! 17 days, nice video, love the highs and lows. Tip to reduce portages with two people. Both walk to the halfway point, person 1 unloads your gear and goes back to the start to get the other gear. Person 2 continues to walk to the end of the portage and goes back to the halfway drop off to get the rest of the gear. Each person only walks the distance 2 times instead of 3. 12k just turned into 8k.

    • @Karamintheworld
      @Karamintheworld  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jay! Glad you liked the video. I can't believe we didn't think of this to reduce our portages, definitely something to try out next time. Although it is quite nice walking along with someone as opposed to doing most of the portage separately walking different parts of the portage. Not that we were really talking much to be honest haha

You connected yourselves with nature yet knew its bond would be forever in your souls no matter how amazing the water taxi tried to unglue that bond. You 2 bit off a big chunk of Algonquin for your first canoe trip! Congrats on finishing. It's no small feat. Would suggest learning a few knots and tarp-skills for your next trip (assuming you don't hate canoeing too much now...haha). Hello :) I've always loved keeping a diary when I travel, it helps me remember events better and also process my feelings. We went into this trip knowing we wanted to make a film so I kept extra detailed accounts of everything we did, how we felt, what we ate, where we camped. This was instrumental when writing the scripts for these videos, it has allowed me to recount our story in extremely vivid detail because I'm pulling directly from my diary. I can't recommend diary keeping enough, even when it seems frustrating to have to spend 20mins writing in the tent at night, it was 100% worth it for me! 😊

    I have watched more RUclips canoe camping videos than I would ever reveal to my psychiatrist, so it is with much authority that I rate this video TG (Too Good for You Tube). Jay of Jay's Way produces some entertaining videos and seems like a cool guy, but his portaging strategy is poppycock. If two people have two full loads each and only one of them doubles back, one of the four loads gets left behind. Your tarp setup was hilarious, but given a tarp, some cordage, and an impending rainstorm, I can't say with confidence I would have done any better. Please keep making movies!

      Hey Daniel :)
      our mic is the VideoMic Pro! So i definitely recommend you getting the videomic pro+, it's a great mic overall with awesome sound quality, plus you don't have to turn it on everytime you turn on the camera lol
      Also, we made a video about all our gear including the camera gear we had if you want to check it out for more details :)

    You 2 are so great at video making! Would love to go 3 weeks, envy you! We take our daughter on 10 day canoe trips because we can't fit more days worth of dehydrated meals for 3 people in the food barrel, and also because I don't get enough days off work.
    Loved your video and hope you do more trips. Biggest way to make your trip better would be to get a properly sized light weight tarp, Cookes Custom Sewing is where we get ours, seam seal it, get some light weight rope for it and watch some videos on how to set it up. An outdoor living room/kitchen/gear storage spot for the rainy days does miracles for morale. We've spent many an afternoon watching storms from the comfort of a well strung tarp. When.our daughter was smaller morale was a big consideration. We learned to schedule in layover days instead of having to move everyday. We also learned that we had happier days if we planned out moves of 15 km or less.
    Subscribed and hope you keep tripping!

      Thanks again and see you around

    I know the pain of rain in Algonquin Park, my fiance and I did a 12 day trip and we had 2 foot waves, massive winds and rain for 2 of those days. The rest of the days we were swarmed by mosquitoes... don't go in June lol

    • @Karamintheworld
      @Karamintheworld  3 года назад

      haha omg 2 foot waves!!! That's crazy you can't really canoe in that 🙃 But also hey, 12 days is great! I think definitely by 12 days we were done and wanted to go home lmao. You should do it in the fall :) the mosquitoes were honestly not that bad!

      y'all got me curious so I used my copy of jeffsmap (no relation) and totaled up all the distances. I get approx 164km. That's with ideal straight-line crossings of lakes and no accounting for double-carried portages. To say the route shown at 3:36 is about a 200km trip is a fair statement, if you ask me. It's certainly close.
