Hi! Can you discuss PC set ups single VS duel and how to make each style work? Also explain what mic, camera, audio, etc is all connected to which external device and then how it runs to the pc (if it does) and what software are you using to make it all run? The whole picture start to finish. Another option might be how to install and use overlays in OBS. (Might sound simple but it's not for a beginner.)
I got my camera and camlink in the mail this week, and you release this amazing video. Timing couldn't be more perfect. Your videos are a huge help, as always
Awesome video! I'd just like to add one topic I find super important: One issue I see often, is flickering from lights. Since you have pro lights, they're not prone to flickering the same way normal lamps are. In normal setups, flickering can happen if your shutterspeed and framerate are mismatched compared to the frequency of your lights. In europe, most lights operate at 50Hz. That means you want a shutterspeed that's a multiple of 50. If you do 60fps video (or 50fps if you do PAL), a shutter speed of 1/100 usually works well. It should be noted that smartbulbs often use a different PWM frequency (especially with colored lights) so you might need to experiment with a slightly slower or faster shutter speed. Excited to follow this series along, keep it up!
I'll stick with my Elgato Facecam pro. The price along with the fact that it is pure plug and play with good software is a gamechanger for me. Yes. mirrorless might look better but also way more expensive, more equipment and cables. also i never show my cam in fullscreen. 95% it is just in the corner like 15% of the screen. so you wont really notice the difference. Also a little bonus is that the facecam pro is 4k 60fps. which most mirrorless is not. they are capped at 30fps and yes. u can clearly see the difference if you move around a lot. Like if you are doing unboxing, move around the room and such for sports etc Last mirrorless will look garbage too if you dont have a proper light source anyways. So IMO. save the money and go with a good webcam like Elgato, OBS bot and so on and then the spare money for some good lighting instead. The result will be much more noticeable But again i do understand why some use mirrorless. Especially if they are vlogging or doing YT videos in fullscreen where the better picture and features is good. but for pure stream. Go for Elgato Facecam both normal version and pro or the OBS bot which is insane with it AI movement and such.
I loved this video. You laid it out and NOW I understand the stuff on the mirror cameras; which I've avoided as they were sooo complicated before. Nice. Thank you so much.
I've been using the Sony a6100 w/ Sigma 16mm 1.4 Lens for a few years now. Great image, focus, and it won't break the bank. Highly recommended streaming upgrade!
Thank you, very useful. I currently use my ZV-E10 for making my youtube videos, however I do want to use it for streaming when my streaming room is finished. The custom preset portion of this video is really good information, I always worried about having to remember to change my settings when I'm swapping between indoor/outdoor videos, and then streaming. With regards to the lenses, I've just recently bought a Yongnuo 16mm 1.8 lens and it's extremely good value, under £200 GBP, and gives me that background blur with a relatively wide angle.
Can you share some of your favorite mirrorless camera mounts? My camera has a very top heavy lens and have a hard time getting my camera not to fall forwards a lot. I'm assuming you've used a lot of different mounts over the years. Love the vid thanks
I've used a larger tripod for my camera with large zoom lens... its extremely top-heavy...but the normal tripod has a large enough footprint to not be affected by it (1 leg is directly under the lens to stabilise in that direction) But the downside is that its a large footprint for a small office or desk setup... I'm using a normal camera tripod which reaches up to 1.8m height fully extended... and at minimum of 60cm height with all 3 legs collapsed... so that is a massive downside if you have to keep space and footprint in mind
curious if the lumix s9 I see in the video would need a dummy battery would you experience say its okay using the usb c cord without overheating? EDIT// saw in another on of your older shorts that there was overheating, so you need a dummy battery. Thanks again
Harris, I see you're shooting in Vlog. Do you have a lut assigned in camera (that you recommend) or do you do all color editing in post? Thanks! Also thanks for the wonderful series so far. It has been a huge help!
@Sempai Gaming can you suggest me a prime lens for a sony a7iv. I have one from kit lens and normally keep it on 35mm but the sharpness is not has good.
I understand you are focused on Streaming setups and equipment, but a lot of what you talk about can also be applied to Virtual Classroom setups (ie, an instructor sets up camera/mic and is effectively streaming content to 30-60 people). However the biggest issue i've run into in supporting these setups is the application. Communication software (Zoom/Teams/Skype/ect) limit the bandwidth a person can use. As a result, both the Camera feed and the "content" share feeds are compressed in different ways. Camera lowers resolution in favor of frame rate, while the Content share lowers frame rate in favor of resolution (ie so text is clear to read). And switching between content and camera feeds is pretty clunky in those applications (as they are meant for conferences, not classes). Since they don't 'stream' on Twitch or RUclips and are many times, having the feed recorded to be uploaded to a classroom web system, this presents an issue of 'Which application would work best' for having classroom features, as well as decent streaming options from one source (so people can use something like OBS and not have either their camera, or their content look like crap. So was hoping you had some insight as to some decent virtual classroom applications that could get around the conference limitations.
hey brother, great video!! one very frustrating issue is I wish you would have talked more about the filter that you ended up using as your solution for your lighting. Did you say an "MD filter"??? Please let me know the name of the filter so I can do my own research and learn about it.. Would have been nice if you would have put a link to the product itself.. Thanks again for the education
Awesome video as always, keep up the great work 💪 I'm been using my Canon 80D for many years as a webcam for my live stream, and i have set mine to photo mode with 100 ISO, and it works great 🤓
YOU're my favorite emoji! Jokes aside: I love your videos dude, have been following you for a while and your channel is a great resource how to do things for your setup. Also pretty awesome to catch your livestreams (which aren't very often these days)! Let's see if I can get my stream-setup semi-decent and up-n-running before I'm 40 (which isn't that far away)
I have a now unused Sony A6000 (with a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 which looked amazing even in low-light), and there were two different dial notches where one would have bleached out colors but nice antialiasing (the outside edges of things were smooth), and the other notch would have pleasantly saturated colors, but with horrible jagged lines on the edges of things. I spent somewhere around a year trying to figure out how to replicate the smooth edges to the dial notch that had better colors. Never could figure it out and eventually gave up. I do know that quite a few google searches stated that this camera did not have AA, so I have no idea what caused jagged edges in one preset and not the other.
Hey Harris, thank you so much for these videos. I have a D3500 - Nikon and have been trying to use the Webcam utility software with no success. In case you decide to make a video on that, I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from it. Thank you!
I saw this video a few days ago and decided to try to use my DSLR instead of my webcam. Well, I was able to get it to work, but my DSLR camera is almost 14yrs old now so it doesn't have the setting to get rid of the auto focus box. Regardless, I appreciate your videos and all the hard work you do! I always learn something from them!
I wouldn't want to risk overheating it using it as a webcam that I've spent over $1,500 for. As a photographer I would only use it just for taking pictures and video and use one of the nice webcams either from Logitech or Elgato and call it a day. Your music is awesome by the way
Streambeats is amazing!! And thanks to you guys, i am no longer getting the fake copyright claims anymore... The video itself is very helpful.. sadly my old digital nikon doesnt wanna work with video mode and my pc... not a clue why i cant get it working... but since i only use it as a tiny in corner camera...my logitech works plenty fine xD
We set the custom OBS resolution to 3840x2160 while the camera is set to 6K and then we zoom in the 3840x2160 window to get rid of the black bars. Doesn't that mean we're now less than 4K since we zoomed in?
If you could do an explanation about lighting would be great, I always wonder what lights streamers use or how they set them up. Because most white lights miss the red lighting, giving people weird skin tones.
Is the Streambeats discord still in use? Its very inactive from staff and now filled with mallicious actors such as scam-url's, selpromoters and people selling services.
So if I want to record my face separate from my gameplay can someone explain to me how I would go about doing that? And I’m not talking about in obs I just wanna know do RUclipsrs record with the camera and then take the sd card out of it to put it on the computer?
the content is really good quality here, but I think the videos would really improve with better cuts and removing unnecessary footage, such as getting rid of some of the unscripted stuff.
Love the series Harris, but please be more transparent about StreamBeats, the copyright issues creators are facing when using the music, and the legal disputes.
I'd choose an a6000 with a tt artisans 17mm f 2.0. About 450 for both and u cna do beautiful 1080 60p I mean gsme changing..if u wanna spend an extra 150 for 4k get an a6100 all Sonya by the way...trust me been doing this a long time..u don't want a lumix for your first time lol I mean the s2 ya has great autofozus but ur budget is 2000 with lens for tthat..and any lumix is bad for autofocus unless u go gh7 g92 or s5iix etc...great for content horrible streaming
We're ramping this series up to doing a couple a month. What things do you want to see explained simply and clearly? I'm making a lissssst.
Why no YT Music stream beats link on the website lmao this platform literally exists
I recognize that webcam! waiting for that review!
Any advice for doing live streaming in eclectic environments (like live music pulling audio from a sound board for example) would be awesome honestly

Setting up mic settings. XLR or software like Rode connect

Just found this channel, and it has quickly become my go-to for equipment recommendations and technical help. Thanks for the great content.

Have the same cam, love it.
Still using a sony a5100 with a camlink 4k! records 1080p60 perfectly and doesnt overheat! got everything for around 300 euro's on secondhand market
I loved this video. You laid it out and NOW I understand the stuff on the mirror cameras; which I've avoided as they were sooo complicated before. Nice. Thank you so much.
Great video! Been my go-to for a long time and I appreciate how you keep updating the basics as tech progresses. Thanks for everything.

The timing of this video was great. Was thinking of bying a camera for live streaming. Thanks for the lesson!
Are you planning to update your streaming kit so I can see what some of the newer items in your setup are?
Thank you, very useful.

saw in another on of your older shorts that there was overheating, so you need a dummy battery. Thanks again
Thank you for all of the fantastic content, it is very helpful.
this video has helped allot and i only use mine for video call in discord at the moment
Always great info and video!
Harris, I see you're shooting in Vlog. Do you have a lut assigned in camera (that you recommend) or do you do all color editing in post? Thanks! Also thanks for the wonderful series so far. It has been a huge help!
this helped a ton, thanks harris :)
Would love to see color grading on your cam for live stream or if you have a lut you use. Thanks for all the help throughout the years!

I needed this. Just setting up my Sony a6000
Can you please add this to the Masterclass section? I keep coming back to it for reference and have to do a search for it each time. Thanks!!!

Harris is Here. Since no one won the webcam giveaway can i just pick myself as the winner lol
Harris, thank you for your videos. I'm a 46yo father who's doing his best with his channel and you've helped me out so much. Thank you.
Love these videos!
Harris, homie buddy..... how did you get your OBS so clean..... the tabs etc?
holy heck! this is neat as darn mah dude!
Достойный разбор! Спасибо. Многое стало понятно!

stuck with the logitech brio for awhile but this is great to watch when in finally upgrade to something noice in the future! ty 🤩
Sometimes my camera freezes when i use the same camera on diff scenes which sucks and i find it a bit weird
We set the custom OBS resolution to 3840x2160 while the camera is set to 6K and then we zoom in the 3840x2160 window to get rid of the black bars.
Doesn't that mean we're now less than 4K since we zoomed in?

Do I already understand how to use a mirror lense camera? Yes, did I still watch the entire video? Also yes
Keep on hearing the Sony a6000 with a sigma lens looks really good for a older camera since still using a kiyo pro
Do you need a capture card with all camera
Some use USB-C but it's limited
this is a really good video.
If your camera overheats recording 4k will it do the same while streaming or will it go longer?
how to structure streams for youtube
My Sony Alpha 5100 is an older camera (10 years last month), but I have yet to find a webcam with an image I like better.
I have a nikon camera and i cant change the setting to never turn off. Is there a work around? If i have it plugged in will it permanently stay on?
🔥🔥
Ambient Gold is my favorite StreamBeats song
Is the Streambeats discord still in use? Its very inactive from staff and now filled with mallicious actors such as scam-url's, selpromoters and people selling services.
Maybe a dumb question, but if you want to start streaming, filming your content, you need a PC don’t you? I only have a series x at the moment
Just wait til the next generation of cameras where they start advertising the auto focus/ face recognition as "AI" lol
The condor blue capture card has issues with the black level into zoom meetings. I had to stop using it.
So if I want to record my face separate from my gameplay can someone explain to me how I would go about doing that? And I’m not talking about in obs I just wanna know do RUclipsrs record with the camera and then take the sd card out of it to put it on the computer?
Watching this as if I'm not a faceless creator lmao
❤
I want that Lumix so bad. While the open gate is a deal maker for me... the price is a deal breaker for the wife :D
Where are episodes 1-4?
I love how the 100mm lens made you loose your beard
Thanks ✌
the content is really good quality here, but I think the videos would really improve with better cuts and removing unnecessary footage, such as getting rid of some of the unscripted stuff.
HE FORGOT TO SAY HAPPY STREAMING
Love the series Harris, but please be more transparent about StreamBeats, the copyright issues creators are facing when using the music, and the legal disputes.
What happen to the Sony ZV E10 being the bees knees?
Would genuinely love to get a real camera!
As Always 👍
