Tought choice, I have my stream deck+, which made me put my beacn mix create. Sadly I also had to put away the beacn mic as well because I cant seem to get it to sound good compared to my xlr mic.
That Insta360 link camera continues to blow me away. No one has event come close to competing with it. I just wish they'd make a static version with the same sensor so it wouldn't $299.
I personally liked the second set up best; especially the mic. I think the Podmic was really easy to listen to, while the third mic sounded to sizzle-y to me. I thought the instalibk was also super cool!
I agree, I feel the elgato wave was nice, but the most flat.. the ride has great punchiness to the vox to keep them very up front, and the beacon deff sounds like there extra eq in the highs of the vox
The second setup was by far the favorite. Not only did the Rode Podmic sound better than the Beacn, but the Insta360 camera was easily the best looking camera. One thing I've wondered though with these videos, you really haven't mentioned the Steelseries Sonar software at all. Would be curious to hear what you think of it, seeing as it gives people more control over their audio completely for free. Just seems like it would be something that would be right up this channels alley.
I think I would prefer the insta 360 link just because having 1080p60 with all that functionality is nice. Plus I think the colors looked slightly better on there than the elgato facecam pro. 4k30 isn't really a huge missed opportunity since a lot of people just do 1080p as standard. Plus, I can punch in more without losing too much resolution.
Godox ES45 for $100 is basically the Elgato Key Light, but I like it more b/c I don't need any wifi setup and working for the LIGHT to work (which is actually important for me) Elgato Key lights are nice for integrating into streamdecks (which I have 3x) but I prefer the Godox for 1/2 the price and the same/better CRI/control but with a physical control
I didn’t know that that Streamdeck Plus comes with the Wavelink software! This is great! I was thinking of replacing my GoXlr Mini but couldn’t think of a replacement I liked. I use a Samson Q9U and I’m gonna have to try it out with the Streamdeck Plus with USB!
The wider FOV on the el gato PRO is nice but the cam quality just looks like a typical webcam sorry to say .. that Insta360 though is super nice quality, DSLR like. I'm wondering if the El Gato has an advantage in really low light like night time streaming with lights off .
The noise reduction plugin for wave 3 wasn't mentioned it's in the software but it lets me record in my basement with the air on and the mic sounds crystal clear.
I just wanted to say I appreciate you and the work you and your team do. As an older guy, with more road behind him than in front of him, starting a gaming hobby RUclips channel, on a budget, is what it is all about and your informed, thought out, and well delivered information, has guided me immensely. Giving me options allows me to mix and match based on what I can afford and what is available in the Great White North (aka CANADA). I tip my hat to you sir.
Beacn mic for some reason sounded harsh to me. Gave me a slight headache feeling. Compared to that, the rodemic was very comfortable to listen to. I don't know why.
I have a similar situation. I've noticed my my face occasionally looks red-orange. I notice it happens when I have a red, orange, or gold outfit on. I think what's happening is the auto white balance is sampling the color of my outfit and it's trying to match the color temperature with it. I've learned not to wear warm colors in my streams. Then, my face is a nice, gold color, which is what I want in my streams. But that's not what's happening with your webcam. Even when I'm on manual white balance, it's tricky to make my face a gold color instead of red when I'm wearing warm colors. So, that's really odd. Maybe it's your background.
I actually bit it and picked up the face cam earlier this summer because not only you, but other streamers doing reviews and recommmendations kept raving about it. Honestly, best buy of 2023. And even better, my sound has stopped randomly choosing my cam. ;-D
Second setup is the one that actually looks good and I had to do a double take if the camera is not a mirrorless, it's actually good. The 3rd setup feels straight up bad compared to the rest
podmic usb sounds way better than the beacn, has dsp, and works with rode unify for audio mixing/routing + sound board. it's also cheaper than the beacn
I wish the BEACN had a 'boomier' sound. For the price it seems too bright imo and sounds worse than mics half the price. The only selling point on that mic for me is the software it comes with.
A lot of the things that don't have the Elgato app with it. You can get a smart plug and connect it that way. Just you can't change anything without getting into the program (if it has one) with the Elgato stream desk.
GVM 800D RGB LED lights are fantastic & affordable for streaming or podcasts. They also have the option to add a grid soft box to them. There is a package you can buy with 2 lights & stands. They also have an app for your phone which is awesome.
I would love to see a video on travel mics. Mics that ppl use when their walking or playing sports. Mics that don't need any hook ups but would clearly improve videos that people recorded with their phones or cameras
you are a wiz at a lot of setups and suggestions for what to buy, but i'd love to see what you'd do with an ACTUAL, realistic setup by a generic creator and what you can do to elevate it. I am a basic, 5 viewer andy with a AT2020 mic into a Foscurite Solo soundcard. sounds painfully boring but i'd argue this here is the most common setup from any content creator without blowing their bank or budget. it's a good mic and a good interface. what can WE do to elevate our setups to the next level with the gear we have? that's a real challenge for you
Would the insta 360 be even close to an actual camera for the sake of RUclips? have a Nikon Z7II and some good lenses for it would but I mostly use it for photography. I would prefer to just leave a webcam set up all the time if possible rather than having to take my mirrorless on and off my set up all the time. But don’t want to loose too much quality
You could probably list off some honorable mentions at the end, such as the Shure MV7, etc. Just to fill things out even more. Plus, it allows you to throw a few more affiliate links in the description 😉
Wow! this comes in super handy so far... I was just some days ago browsing through some of your setup videos as I need to do some recordings - and my USB Rode Podcaster is not up to the task (dynamic, cardioid USB mic). I put a foam on top with a pop filter but nothing... only thing made it better is configuring the filters in OBS... (noise suppression, gain, equalizer, Expander, compressor & Limiter) As I understand the Stream Deck + is providing this features through its interface via software (Wave Link) right? so any microphone connected to it, like elgato Wave:3 or the XLR Wave DX... and of course BEACN one. On this last one I understand that it comes with all those filters in the mic hardware... noise suppression, limiter, compressor, equalizer, expander... etc... so we can affirm "this is the one" right? (for those of us having issues with microphones...) am I right? :)
Thanks for the content! Some cool setups! elgato webcam looks not so good. Quick question for you sir, what's up with the painted fingernails? Just curious, is that a cause, a fashion statement, all the above, just trying to understand. No worries.
I’ve got the logitech blue sona, legato wave xlr, logi brío 500, astro A40s, and litra beam. I dont stream, but i use it for work everyday. Zero complaints.
hmm is there a way if you go with the option B - let's say USB mic you already have with Stream Deck+ so you have the wave link software - can you actually somehow hear the EQ you put on the microphone? Is it gonna be with huge latency ? I am used to having the monitoring mode on on my current mic and this would actually be a downgrade for me :(
Honestly, I've never understood why the Elgato Key Lights were recommended over Amaran products. It's legitimately just the fact that you can use the Stream Deck, there's no other pros for the Key Lights over Amaran. The Elgato Key Lights aren't even cheaper!
im trying to buy a nice new mic and I watched almost all of your videos and helped picked out a bunch of my supplies that I have. my question for you is which would you rather pick Shure SM7B or the RE20 and why?
Would you do a review on the steel series sonar? I think you might like it as it's a free software that doesn't need any steelseries hardware. It seems very similar to the elgato software.
Nice setup. But. In the 2nd setup, wouldn't I have gone with Elgato? Because the Rode Podmic has the Rode Unify app and would then have used my cell phone or tablet with touch portal as a stream deck +
The issue I have with the Elgato regular FaceCam is that it does not have a manual focus -- it only seems to have an auto focus. My auto focus keeps jumping around. Am I missing something? Manual setting somewhere? Thanks.
I still can’t believe you are only at 700ish thousand subscribers. And it brings me back to - you have an amazing audience that might not be super niche but it niche enough to make it warm and friendly. It seems like even if you don’t have the subscribers you have the networking skills and people know you or at least they know streambeats, which makes you more known but not more popular. Would you be satisfied If you never made Senpai Gaming over 1million?
You probably know this but it would’ve probably been worth mentioning that Aperture has a phone app that can control their lights. Not as convenient as the stream deck but not as bad as getting up.
would love to see a video where you show how to set up a rodecaster duo/pro to have submixes like the beacn. I can not seem to find any videos like that on youtube.
I personally wouldn't mind picking up that Insta 360 webcam for my streams, I feel like the desktop mode and privacy features alone are worth the price tag!
Been looking at beacon mic for a while now and I have to disagree with it being mid range 280 is realistically a pricey buy for 99% of streamers… most work 9-5 jobs and live paycheck to paycheck that would be a higher end purchase
Hey Chris - nice succinct video. I’m really thinking of uncomplicating my setup - great to see contained options like this and the BEACN dynamic USB mic that’s at a great price point. Haven’t tried yet, but good to have real options for simplified but pro audio gear. 🎉
im stuck with my logitech brio , i like my Shure MV7 sounds good for me, and i use a singular box light infront of me and 2 lamp lights behind me with Cync RGBW LED bulbs, to give off that nice little glow behind me, i do have a stream deck but mostly use it for changing scenes, mute/unmute, honeslty with the brio, i found out that if you turn off the exposure and adjust your gain, and of course you need good lighting, it still looks good!, better than having the exposure on and low light compensation but, the low light compensation helps a lot with ppl with low lighting of course, just washes out your face a lot lol.
aside from the stream deck setups, one of which I own, and the software, I think Elgato has a lot of hype around it, and that's the biggest selling point. I run an Audiotechnica XLR with a behringer amp for cheaper than the elgato setup, and I have great quality audio and passthrough.
I enjoy the crazy amount of tech that we have available to us these days. It’s super awesome, but I need you to make a video of super high end setups. Like Mirrorless cameras, or shotgun mics so the microphone can finally be out of the way because I personally love those setups the most and have no clue if there’s new tech for that nowadays. I know you had a dream one day that a camera had a streamer input. Has that still not have been created by canon or sony? I’ve also jumped into audiophile stuff and using some of this streamer gear can remove that. For example I want to use my dac/amp but I also still want to use the mixing from goxlr. Update: just watched your video “pro setups waste of money” that’s perfect and you mentioned you wanted to make a video haha. Is the a5100 Sony or canon m200 still mirrorless cameras you recommend?
Neewer has panel lights similar to the elgato lights and they have stream deck control as well. The gl1 in pro is a 15" light for $115 or so. They also have thr gl1c that is rgb.
I still consider my setup mid tier with a big BUT lol. Streamer X, Podmic, Loupedeck Live and using my DSLR as my webcam. I had the camera before, so anyone who has a camera with HDMI out already....you save yourself buying a webcam. I've gotten used to the Loupedeck software and love the way it works (Yes I disagree with your all in one profile point lol). And I green screen out my background, so don't need lights quite like that. Just one LED panel from Godox. I do miss the remote control option but haven't used it because I remove the background anyways. But ya, just a thought. Streamer X does a ton for one device.
Can you do a video discussing Logitech's acquisition of Blue microphones? It seems they're killing the brand, does that mean that they're higher end studio condensers like the Kiwi will just stop being made?
What's your favorite piece of gear you own right now? I want to try some cool stuff.
Mine is the Xm8500, the rode podmic, and the tonor td510
Earthworks Icon Pro and Avermedia 513.
Tought choice, I have my stream deck+, which made me put my beacn mix create. Sadly I also had to put away the beacn mic as well because I cant seem to get it to sound good compared to my xlr mic.
My BEACN Mic, 100%
Steelseries arctis x. Unsung hero for console streaming. You can get the audio from the PC and Xbox simultaneously.
That Insta360 link camera continues to blow me away. No one has event come close to competing with it. I just wish they'd make a static version with the same sensor so it wouldn't $299.
Nutty has a video actually comparing it to the competition, and I actually liked the competitor's video look
@@walktxrnyeah there's new options that can compete with it. FaceCam Pro and Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra have strong sensors and offerings.
osbot competes...
I personally liked the second set up best; especially the mic. I think the Podmic was really easy to listen to, while the third mic sounded to sizzle-y to me. I thought the instalibk was also super cool!
I noticed that to. I could instantly hear the difference in quality when the mics changed.
Loved the first mic, the second lights and the second webcam most
I agree, I feel the elgato wave was nice, but the most flat.. the ride has great punchiness to the vox to keep them very up front, and the beacon deff sounds like there extra eq in the highs of the vox
I did too, but he talks only about it being USB while he's using the XLR output. Which will make it sound a bit better...
By the 2 setup you said p60x but there stand p60c
The second setup was by far the favorite. Not only did the Rode Podmic sound better than the Beacn, but the Insta360 camera was easily the best looking camera.
One thing I've wondered though with these videos, you really haven't mentioned the Steelseries Sonar software at all. Would be curious to hear what you think of it, seeing as it gives people more control over their audio completely for free.
Just seems like it would be something that would be right up this channels alley.
Yes #2 had best sound and image 👍🏻
@@EmseeOne This is an older comment but #2 really needs a pop filter and a shock mount, the plosives and desk taps are intense
I think I would prefer the insta 360 link just because having 1080p60 with all that functionality is nice. Harris, I love watching your videos. I hope you're doing alright. Thanks for all the effort you put into your work.

ok there is a amazing usb microphone it's made by fifine and it's the 688 series mic it has XLR and usb on 1 mic
Would it be better to get a Podmic USB or buy a podmic with an Elgato wave XLR? (Upgrading stream setup from a blue yeti)
The wider FOV on the el gato PRO is nice but the cam quality just looks like a typical webcam sorry to say .. that Insta360 though is super nice quality, DSLR like. I'm wondering if the El Gato has an advantage in really low light like night time streaming with lights off .
What do you think about Obsbot Tiny 2 beside Insta360 link?
You should give the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra a look. Hands down the most impressive webcam I've ever used, it beats the facecam pro and insta.
I’m gonna check that out but from my experience Razer when it comes to mics or cameras never beat elgato 😂
The noise reduction plugin for wave 3 wasn't mentioned it's in the software but it lets me record in my basement with the air on and the mic sounds crystal clear.

Im rockin' the first setup to a T. I feel very seen.
Great job as always and thank you for all the tunes!
Yeah, those lights on the second and third set up those look good
The beacn mic sounds like a $10 mic, I assume it was a setting mistake cause it sounded like an old phone/radio
Beacn mic for some reason sounded harsh to me. Gave me a slight headache feeling. Compared to that, the rodemic was very comfortable to listen to. I don't know why.
I love this type of content where you visualize what each budget price point would look like 👍 it helps me a lot ✨🙌🏼

@elgato on 4:11 "Those are not dials, those are KNOOOOOOOOOOOBBBSSSSS!" 😂
Second setup is the one that actually looks good and I had to do a double take if the camera is not a mirrorless, it's actually good. The 3rd setup feels straight up bad compared to the rest
8:00 you can still turn those lights off using streamdeck when using the phillips hue powerplugs.
as always another great video and def some gear i am eyeing so again harris thanks for the info and as always leaving some engagement 😁
I love the Beacn Mic, Beacn Mix Create and the Elgato Stream Deck. Wonderful tools when streaming! Love the work as always
podmic usb sounds way better than the beacn, has dsp, and works with rode unify for audio mixing/routing + sound board. it's also cheaper than the beacn

😊 thank you! I always like your take on gear

ofc it's up to preference and the settings you had for the mics but the Rode mic sounded more open to me :) We'll see what mic I'll pick up
You can operate the amaran software with Apple shortcuts on the stream deck or obs
I liked the second setup. Good video-quality and good sound. Perfect lights. Thank you for showing me. 🙏👍
The Obsbot Tiny 2 seems to be the biggest instalink 360 competitors right now since its almost identical in features but is 4k60
im trying to buy a nice new mic and I watched almost all of your videos and helped picked out a bunch of my supplies that I have. my question for you is which would you rather pick Shure SM7B or the RE20 and why?
Are you still feeling the Deity mic? I bought one based upon your recommendation and I love it.
Would you do a review on the steel series sonar? I think you might like it as it's a free software that doesn't need any steelseries hardware. It seems very similar to the elgato software.
Elgato cam came in today!, this is clutch/dope; thanks for the recommendation!, true OG my G , please keep this up!
There are some great looking (also wooden) grids for the Elgato lights as well. Love how they work ánd look
what you missed in this video is that you can get the blackshark v2 for insane headset and a good mic quality for 50€
Nice setup. But. In the 2nd setup, wouldn't I have gone with Elgato? Because the Rode Podmic has the Rode Unify app and would then have used my cell phone or tablet with touch portal as a stream deck +
I love my PC Panel, which you gave a glowing review to a while back. Is there a reason it’s not making the cut anymore?
Such a great vid. Thanks!
Instead of elgato webcam, what about razer kiyo? Is there a reason you would pick one over the other?
That roll in to your insta advert was high iq !
Love to see your opinion of the Shure MV7
The issue I have with the Elgato regular FaceCam is that it does not have a manual focus -- it only seems to have an auto focus. My auto focus keeps jumping around. Am I missing something? Manual setting somewhere? Thanks.
so which is better, or which would you recommend one over the other, the insta360 or elgato facecam pro?
I still can’t believe you are only at 700ish thousand subscribers. And it brings me back to - you have an amazing audience that might not be super niche but it niche enough to make it warm and friendly.

Got a question why did Elgato get rid of the wave 1 mic
Thanks for the awesome setup video.🎙
I love my P60x light, but the ones you showed are the P60c's (the full color ones). What are your thoughts on the color capabilities of them?
You probably know this but it would’ve probably been worth mentioning that Aperture has a phone app that can control their lights. Not as convenient as the stream deck but not as bad as getting up.
What model is your shotgun mic before you did the 1st setup
would love to see a video where you show how to set up a rodecaster duo/pro to have submixes like the beacn. I can not seem to find any videos like that on youtube.

I just got a Maono microphone and I think it sounds amazing for being a mid-tier XLR/USB mic. Why wasn’t that mentioned?
Hey Chris - nice succinct video. I’m really thinking of uncomplicating my setup - great to see contained options like this and the BEACN dynamic USB mic that’s at a great price point. Haven’t tried yet, but good to have real options for simplified but pro audio gear. 🎉
I have a Elgato Wave:1 microphone, but I don't know what mic arm I should choose... x_x;
2nd setup with the facecam pro, and elgato key lights.
im stuck with my logitech brio , i like my Shure MV7 sounds good for me, and i use a singular box light infront of me and 2 lamp lights behind me with Cync RGBW LED bulbs, to give off that nice little glow behind me, i do have a stream deck but mostly use it for changing scenes, mute/unmute, honeslty with the brio, i found out that if you turn off the exposure and adjust your gain, and of course you need good lighting, it still looks good!, better than having the exposure on and low light compensation but, the low light compensation helps a lot with ppl with low lighting of course, just washes out your face a lot lol.
i was thinking of getting a mic for my pc but what would i use it for hehe
I wonder how well you could do if you tried targeting the used market for the same budget.
Thank you for the videos with direct comparisons. Really is informative!!!!! also favorite emoji 🤭

Green halo chair you have worth the price tag? I’m looking for a new office chair
I love my setup, Audio-Technica AT875R, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen, Logitech brio, $20 soft light box set and daylight bulbs from home Depot 😊
Love my Stream Deck but after the latest update it is just not working unfortunately.
I use
-shure sm7b
-rodecaster duo
-insta 360 webcam
-3 monitors I stole from my previous employer😅
Loved setup number 2. ❤
Hey I was curious on what you think about the rode nt1 5th gen USB microphone also THIS VIDEO WAS AMAZING
Kinda surprised you didn't include the WaveXLR any particular reason for that?
Out of the second and third set up comparing those mics to say a yeti mic would those be an upgrade?
Have youo looked at the PreSonus PD-70? I've been looking at new mics and that one caught my eye.
Can you do a video discussing Logitech's acquisition of Blue microphones? It seems they're killing the brand, does that mean that they're higher end studio condensers like the Kiwi will just stop being made?
