  • This is my daily driver, a 2011 BMW 328i with ~243,000km on the clock. Today we fix up all kinds of oil leaks, as basic as the oil filter housing gasket (OFHG), all the way to removing the subframe to tackle the replacement of the steering rack and oil pan gasket.

    I have an E36. I can’t believe how complicated BMW managed to make things in just 15 years.

    You are awesome brother, i was looking for this video for a loooooongtime, I couldn't find no one doing a video with very specific instructions.
    May I ask how many hours you spent doing this job?,and, it didn't give you problems aligning the rack and the steering wheel?, in some cars usually we have to turn the steering wheel all the way to the right(5 turns) and than turn it back half(2.5 turns) to the left. Otherwise wheel alignment is not correct.
    You guys with garages are different level 😂, here in NYC we do it on the streets 😁😁.

      Thank you my friend! I don't remember how many hours it took, but it was a big job. I believe it took me two days. To align the rack I didn't have any problems, bolted right back to the same spot and then obviously brought the car for a proper alignment when I was done.
      Doing this job on the street sounds like a nightmare 😂, good luck!

    Will be reviewing your 750Li videos. Right or wrong I bought a 2022 750i Xdrive as a project. Has a bad engine knock. Low compression #6 cyl and less piston travel on that cyl. Will need to rebuild, hopfully the crank shift isn't damaged?

      Only way to tell will be after tearing it down. There will probably be at least some damage to the crank, the question is if it can be machined or if it will need to re replaced. Enjoy the series, hopefully the videos will help!

    Can you tell me how to replace the steering rack on a 2012 bmw 750li

    • @endiqunaj3693
      @endiqunaj3693 9 месяцев назад

      I’ve seen your 7 series content however you don’t talk about the steering rack at al.

      You have to drop the subframe. Once the subframe it out it should be pretty easy to disconnect. Part 1 of the series should be able to help. Good luck!

    Good evening, I am interested in knowing where in the United States you work because I have a 2013 BMW 750LI SERIES car with a stuck engine and I want to repair it.

    Why u never change rod bearings???

    • @bimmer.doctor
      @bimmer.doctor  10 месяцев назад +7

      Why would I change the rod bearings?The car doesn’t have any issues that would need replacement and it’s expensive to do it for no reason. If the engine had known issues (like an S65 or S85) then I would do it, but not for an N52.
