- Changing this engine took a fair amount of effort but I got it done! This took about 4 long nights after work to get done, I could probably do it quicker now that I have done one. After purchasing the engine, a new oil change, intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, power steering fluid and coolant, I now have less that $4000 into the entire car. Of course this means my labor was free, but it was fun, sort of.

Nice work! Just got my first BMW 2011 328i. I also live in NH, thanks for the videos
Nice, hope you enjoy it!
How is 328i going so far?
Definitely saving this for when I do my n52 swap on my 1er. Great vid!
Thank you! Hope it helps.
Good work as always. Glad it worked out for you.
Thanks brother
Amazing bro great job . I learn a lot.. my 2011 328i motor just froze n no one rebuilds that motor. Had to buy a use one for $8k including install..
Ouch $8k!!!
Bought a 2009 328i xdrive, previous owner said it only needed a starter.. once i did the starter, I compression tested, car was $800 so i expected it to have low compression..as it did... thinking about just swapping an engine into it... suspension, exterior and interior are pretty amazing for a 188k mile car.. don't know how to go about it
Wow! Great job. Loved the video….
Happy Father's Day my brother.
Thank you man, happy Father’s Day to you as well!
Great job 👏
Thank you!
You dont need to rflash anything...just use the n52 long block, the car doesn't know the difference...
Great job!!!
Do you have the video removing the engine? Did you remove the transmission as well?
Enjoyed watching, let me know if you want to sell.
Thanks, I’m just waiting for the title to come in. I have the drivers side headrest on order to fix the airbag light then it will be getting listed.
Just did a swap on my 330i n52 with 200k miles. Old engine decided it didnt need oil pressure lol. New one has 80k
Not too bad of a job.
@@coreysgarage6389 yessir. So far 5k miles in and no problems apart from a faulty replacement camshaft and vanos solenoid.
Literally what happened to mine 😭😂😂
Wild lmao I was going 100+ mph shit just said no oil pressure pull over carefully 😭😂
@@miguelmalando7066I have a 328i e90 N51 2010 with 206k miles original engine, I always do 80mph never go over that, always do oil change with 3k miles with Liqui Moly 5w40 oil. My car still runs perfect.
Check few videos from M539 restorations, Sreten rebuilt some good engines, you can get lots of tips from him. Might get your engine to run a lot better.
It’s running perfect now but I will check it out.
Wow! Great job, don’t think I would have attempted it. What did you do with the car?
Thank you, I sold it and bought another project.
@15:12 heard that ticking noise the engine made from somewhere, looks like the old engine misses the car 😅
Great job on the engine swap. How did you get the air conditioner Freon back and out the car ?
Just recharged the AC.
@@coreysgarage6389 Great ! I’m just on to your next video, where your fixing the head rest. I haven’t had any major issues with mine, knock on wood but great content.
@@bilalahmed2123 Thank you!
@@coreysgarage6389 Do you still have it ?
Damn. 🔥🔥🔥

Hey i purchased a bmw 2007 328i and the front headlights and back lights keep flickering all and some on dash any info on why ?
Sounds like a bad ground somewhere
I wish you showed more of install , I have to replace my engine more of your instructions would have been more helpful.
Sorry about that, nothing was overly difficult.
How can you tell if it’s an N51 or an N52??
did you do some coding
after putting new engine??😢
I don’t think I needed to, it’s been awhile though.
Do you have to do any kid of timing or did you just swop the engines out.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean but I did swap engines.
After you changed the engine did you had to reprogram the car?
No, started right up. The new engine was identical to the old.
@@coreysgarage6389 thanks for the fast response i needed a head job done on my 2008 bmw 320i so i bought the engine from a salvage yard and paid them to put it in but afterward they said it wouldn’t start unless the reprogrammed the car do you have any knowledge about that?
Bemeve rod bearings fail? what caused that trouble ?
No idea, running out of oil maybe? Or a plugged oil filter.
@@coreysgarage6389 unbelivable
I thought that mechanically BMW is strong , but doubt that nw
@@the2120company It’s rare to loose the bottom end in one.
@@coreysgarage6389 thats what I was thinking, but with all the videos on YT it looks like I was wrong
Have any for sale?
Any what? BMW’s?
@@coreysgarage6389 yes
