Bandit Review, Movie Park Germany RCCA Wooden Roller Coaster | Do I Actually Like This Ride?

- Bandit is one of the few remaining RCCA wooden roller coasters. Located at Movie Park Germany, this ride opened back in 1999 as Wild Wild West, but it was renamed Bandit after Premier/Six Flags sold the park. This is a Coney Island Cyclone clone, but it rides far worse and has developed a reputation as one of the world's worst coasters. But is it warranted?

For a tall guy like me (1.87m/6'2) this ride was absolutely horrible. It's very painful and doesn't really have any redeeming features with weak airtime and a boring layout. It's worse than Hurler in Carowinds. It's the prime candidate for a RMC treatment in Europe.
I prefer Hurler too.
It's a pretty nostalgic ride for me. I was my first big coaster. It still had ist old name and ran quiet good. Had tons of fun. Revisiting the ride years later shattered my positive perception and back.
I know it's the first wood coaster for many in the area.
That Cyclone layout never gets old, a very good coaster with the cyclone layout is Viper at Great America and its also pretty rough, but I think it's one of the best wooden coaster iv ridden tbh. Bandit must obviously be a lot worse but I really don't mind some roughness here and there as long as ir has good forces.
Such a great layout when smooth.
One of my fav rides actually. Not because of nostalgia either but because its falling in that weird category where bad becomes good again. I guess thats because it's really rough but not painful.
That's one way to look at it.
Please. Just RMC it already. Iron Bandit has a nice ring to it too.
I hope.
I Rode It 2 Days Ago. 3 Times , 2 Front And 1 Very Back.
The Front Is Rough But Still Enjoyable But The Back Is Where You Experience The WORST Jackhammering.... But Yet.... I Still Really Enjoyed It.... It Is My First Ever RCCA I Rode.... And Honestly I Liked It.... Sure It's Rough But Not Extremely Painful.... I'd Recommend A Partial Or Full GCI Titan Track Refurbishment Because I Like The Layout As It Is. Movie Park Actually Wanted To RMC It But Since This Ride Still Holds A Pretty Big Fanbase As Germany's First Modern Wood Coaster They Decided Against Transforming It Into A Hybrid. Which Says A LOT For A Coaster Build By The Hated RCCA.... I Think Bandit Is The Only RCCA People Actually Like To Ride Despite The Roughness It Has.
I , In My Opinion Loved It ♥️
Tho A Titan Track Refurbishment Would Really Make It A Ton Smoother And More Re-Rideable.
In My Visit They Ran 2 Trains.... We Always Came To A Dead Stop On The Final Brakes.... Not Very Comfortable....
I still wish the layout had more punch to it, even if it were very smooth.
@@CanobieCoaster True
But Do You Think Bandit Is Actually A Good RCCA? Despite The Roughness And All? Because In My Opinion It's The First And Best RCCA I Rode :)
Finally, an honest review! Don’t agree with the 3, more 5 or 6, but it’s not nearly as bad as people say. Oh: Coaster Express got a complete retrack last year.
I haven't ridden Coaster Express since it was retracked. I hope it makes the ride smoother, but that layout still is not good.
@@CanobieCoaster Coaster Express kinda improved. Kinda. In the front rows is mostly ok, or if you are not seated in a wheel seat, in the back rows is still very rough. But it's true that it improved from a 0-1 to a 4
Movie Park and Phantasialand are my two home parks. From my perspective - and I hope this doesn´t come off as disrespectful - Movie Park has always kind of been the cheaper alternative to Phantasialand. I don´t mean to say people don´t genuinely like this park (and also it´s gotten way better over the years), but what I am saying is that a lot of familys also go here because they don´t want to or can´t spent as much money on a day in a theme park.
What I mean to say is, people don´t go to Movie Park because of Bandit. Yes, it still has good ridership, but that´s just partly because that´s what they have at this park. So I don´t think people would be too emotional about this coaster getting an overhaul, be it by RMCing it or maybe doing a GCI retracking. I certainly hope they´ll do that at some point.
I definitely prefer Phantasialand too.
The pacing issues of this coaster are gone if you ride this coaster during Halloween season at night - when fully warmed up, it flies through the finale. Combined with the roughness and illuminated supports, it's actually great fun 🤘🏻
Interesting!
I rode this thing in March (?) of this year, and it was great. Not noticably rough or painful at all. Good lay-out. It looks good. It wasn't busy at all, and I barely had to wait. I don't know when I'll ride it again, but I'm excited to know if it's as bad as people say it is.
I didn't find it unbearable like many, but it did feel very sluggish.
I love viper at great America so I’d probly like this since I like rough coasters, I hope I can eventually ride all the cyclone clones. I’ve watched so many of your reviews that I can gues what raiting your going to give and most of the time I’m right.
Viper rides considerably better.
The station does remind me of the film "Wild Wild West" when Will Smith on the train vs. Kenneth Braghnah.
What a horrible movie, but boy did the park captured the spirit of the film.
Haven't seen the film, but it sounds like the coaster is about as good as it.
I should go watch this film!
@@CanobieCoaster yeah man, Will Smith and Chris Rock performed a better show than that 90's Era action-comedy farce. In coaster terms, the film was hyped to be the Gwazi of that Summer it came out, but it ended up being like West Coast Racers - two big thumbs racing down - in other words, it's okay, but never lived up to the hype it got. Stick with Bad Boys - that's Will's best work 🤓, also Fresh Prince.
To me, all the bouncing and roughness adds so much to the ride. Especially on the last lap and the turnarounds, it feels like the train hates the ride as much as the coaster community and wants to jump off. I always come off laughing because it's so ridiculously stupid.
I don't necessarily call the boucning a positive haha.
When I rode it the last time, it actually was not rough at all somehow. But despite that, the Layout was super forceless. Laterals so minimal that you could ignore them, and I got absolutely no airtime. If it also runs rougher again now, then this ride is well overdue for the RMC treatment
Sounds like your biggest issue is the poor layout/pacing too.
I personally think Bandit is excellent. Has good airtime, even in the middle seats. Really good night rides as well. Coasters don't need to be super smooth imo.
I haven't gotten much airtime on it, which is my biggest issue.
Canobie Coaster would say:
Bandit originally had Intamin trains, but the current ones are from Premier Rides. As much as I love that company's launch coaster, Premier does not make the best coaster trains, especially when they're for coasters they did not originally design. Just look at what happened with...
A) Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
B) Goliath at Walibi Holland.
C) Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia.
D) Goliath at La Ronde.
E) Goliath at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
F) Goliath at Six Flags New England.
G) Goliath at Six Flags Great America.
F
I don't know if a conversion would make sense in germany. Woodys are more family orientated rides then RMC's and it would take away a "classic woody" from germany and also take away another family coaster. The not that intense coasters are the most popular.
Those are fair points.
And usually, do you like shuffling and smooth, like both, prefer shuffling, or prefer smooth?
I prefer smooth.
Going up the camel Back After the First turnaround has the heaviest punch on the ride. The jackhammering is okay but this single Part is really painful
Bandit is actually good tho. I Think the floater airtime is okay in the back rows. The drop + airtime hill After the 2nd turnaround is my favourite moment
I wouldn't call it good, but I think it's roughness gets overblown.

Goliath
was Bandit at Movie Park Germany worse, more painful or rougher than Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid? both are RCCA
Coaster Express is worse.
Having premier rides trains for a wooden coaster, what do you think the rides you got in Bandit at Movie Park Germany and Goliath at Six Flags New England, had both the same roughness?
Goliath was worse.
What do you think about bandit at movie park germany and coaster express at Parque Warner Madrid in shimmying?
Do both have equal shimmy?
Coaster Express is worse.
I was there yesterday. Legitimately the worst ride I have ever been on. The sheer discomfort is unmatched, and so bad it's fascinating. When I waited in line, I noticed kids coming back sort of excited, while many parents looked to the floor with painful frowns. Not a good sign. I saw one mom massage the sides of her head like she had a migraine, and then later a dad with a hand on his back almost as if he tried to shield his back. I then rode it, and yeah it was as horrible as it seemed. It took a solid hour for my headache to go away, and while I'm sitting here typing this a day later, it feels like a part of my spine is bruised from the violent slamming. It's unreal to me how this coaster is still stands, especially with the building standards Germany is known for.
It's surprising to me that this ride is popular given how bumpy it is.
@@CanobieCoaster true!
If you have to mind what seat you sit in it’s not a comfortabel ride! And btw I road it in April last both back and front row and actually from row gave me a world class headache!! Back row was ok though…. Still in my opinion the worst woodie in Europe!
Coaster Express is worse in my opinion.
What are the differences between bandit and coaster express in shimmying?
Coaster Express is rougher.
RCCA is spelled "Action Park" in the Coaster World.
Except Action Park had fun rides.
Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid also has a western theme
Yes it does. Parks were built by the same owner around the same time.
Santa's runaway sleigh is easily better than range.
Not hard to do.
I really do like the ride. The crazy bouncing makes the ride so fun!
I wouldn't call that a plus for me.
Your ride photo looks like it could be used for a meme template if the logo wasn't on it.
Lol
I love comically rough coasters lol 😅
Then this is for you.
im not fat but i have big legs from ice hockey that thing is the worst coaster for me, every turn or drop hurts.
Ouch!
@@CanobieCoaster like i dont get how everybody likes it. Probably becouse its an icon for being weridly bad.
Quite a fast lift hill
Indeed
I don't think converted this
I hope RMC converts this.
Well spoken review
Thanks!
Which did you like more, Cyclone at Luna Park, Bandit at Movie Park Germany, Georgia Cyclone at Six Flags Over Georgia or Viper at Six Flags Great America? and why?
Easily Cyclone at Luna Park.
And what are the differences between a 0 out of 10 and a 3 out of 10, referring to coasters?
Abysmal to bad.
5:28 lol
Pretty much
Nice review! I’ve never ridden an RCCA, b it they have awful profiling and track work, so I never want to. Their only purpose is to provide a layout to RMC, that is if the structure isn’t too weak to do so, kind of like how great adventure couldn’t rmc rolling Thunder, I know it’s not an RCCA, but it’s just a comparison.
Wasn't Rolling Thunder demolished before Six Flags knew RMC would be a viable option?
@@CanobieCoaster I’m not sure, it closed in 2013 and rmc’s first coaster was new Texas giant in 2011. I thought rmc looked at rolling Thunder and it he idea fell through because the structure was too weak.
RCCA is "Action Park" of EVERY Wooden Coaster.
cool.
Yes
Coaster express is exceptionally brutal.
Sure is.
I'll ride any wooden coaster. Love them. People complain about our woodies. Minebuster and Wildebeast.
I’m getting to canadas wonderland next year and can’t wait to ride the wood coasters, I’m also sorta exited for flight deck and time warm since I’ve never ridden any of those models. And I’m exited for the wacky flats such as tundra twister and sledgehammer.
This is nastier.
Rode this in 2019, nowhere near as bad as I expected
That's sort of how I feel.
I’ve always wanted to try a wooden coaster
There are better ones.
I rode several of them!
I think some people liked Bandit
I also think other people found Bandit to be rougher than MP Xpress, the Vekoma SLC
I know some do. I don't.
The roughest coaster for you in the world was this
No
What means "it's an abomination"?
Disaster
I think some like this ride
It's popular with locals.
Bandit at Movie Park Germany was not in your video of top 25 worst roller coasters in the world (2020)
No, it's more boring than painful for me.
