Dude, I was in the Navy and my Destroyer was tied up in Ft. Lauderdale. Next day a Carnival ship docked behind us, let the passengers out and instead of checking out the sites, they went straight to us wanting tours. They said how much an we told them that it was free. I operated the ships store and cleared me out of souvenir 's. Thank goodness that I had extras for our crew, but we all had a blast.

$120 for 1 zip line is absolutely insane. I did a 3 hour zip line tour in Hawaii for less than $100 and Hawaii is not cheap.

Same here my husband and I did the zip line on Maui and spent 2-3 hours and we paid less than $100 for the each of us.

I agree with you. Most couples spend thousands of dollars to go on a cruise. You have your base rate, then all the taxes port fees, gratuities, parking fees, possibly Airlines tickets and then baggage cost with the airlines, tipping before, during, and after. The list could go on and on and on and on and on. Personally they shouldn't charge for anything on their private islands.
They have multiple chips at the same port. Lost of competition and people bidding against eachother
My biggest complaint with Royal is that they don't spend enough time at Coco Cay. Especially during the summer when it doesn't get dark till 7:30pm or so.
i'm with L, that's total crap that they won't let you enjoy your last hour in port as you'd like! Also agree that it shouldnt be so expensive to enjoy the private islands. We all spend thousands of dollars to go on cruises and only get a couple of stops and they really push their private islands so it should be worth the trip!

There's always gonna be that one person or couple who stick around until the very last second and then miss boarding time and blame the cruise line for it. This is definitely a CYA move on RCL's part. I agree about the extra expenses though.
Just got back from COCO, there's plenty to do without paying. Ziplines And water slides are all mainland things. Enjoying the island without a dollar in your pocket is the way to do it.
I love Coco Cay and being on Chill Island!! Thank you for taking me on the zipline, because this is the only way I will be on there for that price. Have fun!!

what time of year have you been there? I went in January. It was overcast and we didn't want to swim at all. We're tying November this year. I loved the hammock. I got a good nap in one with my wife.

I live in NM. I feel for people who spend big bucks to come to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. It's amazing, when the balloons actually can go up. The weather has to be perfect, no wind. There have been years when they only flew once or twice. And years when they flew almost every day. Impossible to predict. So if you come for Balloon Fiesta, plan to stay for the week!

I just came back from my cruise to Coco Cay and the Bahamas. My 11 year old daughter and I got passes for the thrill water park... but honestly... it wasn't worth the $150 for the 8 slides we enjoyed.
But the weather was PERFECT and the staff were fabulous.
Recommend just enjoying the island and not paying for anything extra!
Royal really seems to be feeling out just how high of a price they can get away with on Coco Cay.
For instance the zipline at Labadee can be gotten for less, and the max is about the same price as Coco Cay but it is much better.
During Black Friday they had it for $39.

I don't even think Raging Waters or Hurricane Harbor is that expensive. That is beyond overpriced.

Coco Cay is a beautiful island to enjoy! The beach, pools, food and sand is the best! I recommend you see it for yourself. I didn't pay for any extras and you don't need to to have a great time! Plan on going every other year!

We loved Coco Cay a few weeks ago. Another blogger gave the heads up that the best time to ride the water park slides was later in the day. YUP. From about 1:00 on they were mostly empty with 2 ships in port. We couldn't rent snorkels, they were all out, so we ended up buying them for CHEAPER than to rent and win win we used them for the next 2 ports. Also, heads up, Black Friday sold the waterpark tickets for either $39.99 or $44.99. There were plenty of seats and the snack shacks were delicious.

The one at Amber Cove in Dominican Republic is $20 for the whole day and its amazing

You don't have to pay for anything at the park. The beaches and pool are more than enough. The pool is one big party from 12-2. The beaches are gorgeous 😍

Thanks for showing us all the food at the teppanyaki restaurant, which looked pretty good. Thanks for dancing with the older lady, I'm sure she had a blast! To tell you the truth when we go to Coco Cay. I'm gonna find us some chairs w/umbrella and relax n' splash on CHILL BEACH ⛱️🏖️. That's it that's all I'm content 😁😂🤣
I had been wanting to go to Coca Cay, but after hearing the prices for the zip line and water park, NOPE, I don't like feeling I have been ripped off. When you pay thousands to be on the cruise that is just too much. Thanks for letting us know.
There are so many excellent FREE perks and locations at coco cay. I have never done the zip line or water park and I still leave fully happy and not feeling like I missed out.
i heard there is still a lot more things to do in Coca Cay you should look into it more

The Tappenyaki on the cranial horizon was amazing.
I have been here three times and each time was awesome. The pool bar with the dj is the best spot. And thank god for the drink package which also works on the island.

Jay. My man. Coco-Cay = Money Grab and a double-dipper. We took the tram and rode around the island and jammed to the CoCoCay song playing on the radio. I asked if they could replay it, but they didn't. Spent the rest of the day ON the ship and that itself was PERFECT!!

I would love to cruise with you!! Just completed my 47th cruise, a lot to some people and nothing to other seasoned cruisers. Had a floating cabana at Coco Cay 2 weeks ago!!! We had 8 people so the cost was not astronomical…was so impressed with service, food and cabana atmosphere. 6 of our guests were 1st time cruiser’s, between cabana and oasis ship, it will be extremely difficult to match this cruise and excursions. Only thing missing was more time on the island!!

When I was on the Anthem of the Seas back in 2017, Northstar was always free whether you’re on land or in the middle of the ocean, because when We were on it, we were out at sea and For free!

I went to coco cay before they revamped when I was a teenager & I have gone to coco cay the same year they opened after revamping. We went to the water park & the prices were significantly lower when it first opened so I’m happy I got to experience the water park before those prices shot up. I refuse to pay what they are asking for now. And $120 for zip lining??! Wow that is not worth it. I ziplined plus more in Mexico & Jamaica for cheap & longer zip lines.
Your break dancing was the best part of the video
My first time at Coco Key was in 1999 on my honeymoon. Back then, it was just a round, thatch roofed bar and a beach! My last time there was this (June 2024) month on Celebrity... WOAH!!!!!!! I had a BLAST! I would take a weekend cruise with that destination as the ONLY destination. Loved it!
Another excellent video, J. You are a gift to the cruising community! We were in Coco Cay for the first time last week on "Enchantment" (our first post-COVID cruise) and had great weather. Ship at 65% capacity, only 200 in water park. No wait for the slides, but we were surprised to have to leave the park dripping wet, as the towel station closed early. The previous day thee were two megaships in, and there was a 90 minute wait for the slides.
Cay is pronounced "key" traditionally, but we were told RC uses the alternation pronunciation so it rhymes with "Perfect Day at Coco Cay".
Don't like the larger ships (were on "Anthem"), as mega ships mean mega crowds. RC is naming the newest one "Utopia".
Zip line looked like a total rip off. For nearly the same price, we did a phenomenal one in Puerto Vallarta, Mex that lasted a few hours, with snack and gorgeous scenery, plus rope swings and climbs.

If you ever go to Castaway Cay. My favorite thing to do is rent bikes and ride all over the island! You can ride your bikes right down a landing strip!! Then on the trail there are little hidden treasures, like statues and stuff every quarter mile, I think they put them there to keep kids interested while they're riding. Then there's an observation deck, a hidden beach, all kinds of cool stuff to find.
That Zipline experience was more expensive than the big island on Hawaii. For $250 per person they drove us to the other side of the island, gave us lunch, and we toured the volcano. Holy cow
For the incurred added expense of Coco Cay I would just stay on the ship and do free things. 120 dollars to ride a zipline? No thanks. Over 100 dollars for a theme park? Way too much for short little things. Great video J.

There's a couple tips you mentioned that I'll keep in mind since we're sailing in August on the Oasis of the Seas. Kind of outrageous how much they charge you on the private island for excursions and not be there the whole day. Bummer you guys could't take a dip in the last hour, that itself would be piss me off. Did you visit all the beaches there and if so which one was your favorite?

Coco Cay is a beautiful place but yes very expensive on top of the initial cruise cost. Overall though my kids enjoyed it and my and my wife had a great time just seeing the joy in their eyes 👍🏻
$120 for ONE run.....I did the best zip line in St Lucia on a Princess excursion $129 for 10 zips.....in the rain forest....awesome...
