Use whole wheat flour and water that’s all, less calories, just knead for 5 minutes, gives fluffy light flat breads -2 ingredients 😋

I love this one and have used it as a pizza crust. I brush oil on the bottom and place on a pan , put on pizza sauce, cheese, peppers, pepperoni and mushrooms more cheese and bake at 400 degrees f for 10-15minutes or until it’s crispy on the bottom and edges . Excellent recipe

I got busy after making the first two and left the dough sitting around and definitely they rest were more fluffy and had more bubbles.

    • @diamond3414
      @diamond3414 4 года назад +7

After making the dough, cover it with a damp cloth and leave it for 15 mins. That makes it remains soft. If the dough gets dry, the flat breads will turn out a bit hard.

Letting it sit for a few minutes allows the flour to fully hydrate and stay soft after cooking.😊

    Ingredients:
1 cup (8oz/225g) full fat natural plain yogurt (or greek yogurt) Add enough yogurt to match the consistency in my video. You may not need the entire cup depending upon the type of yogurt and flour you use.
    1 cup (5oz/142g) all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    Optional toppings
    1/2 cup (4oz/115g) butter
    2-3 cloves garlic finely minced
    parsley roughly chopped
    1 pinch salt to taste

    I’m here to update everyone.
I made this earlier this evening. It was so delicious and easy😋🙌🏻. I did make different variations as I made some thicker. I cannot believe I never tried making it sooner. Again, the timing was so perfect that it’s making me literally crying on how fulfilling it is and how inexpensive it is during this hardship. You are so genuine and talented. I’m looking forward to more budget friendly and simple food during this time.

You can try Indian Flatbread i.e. chapati which is super instant to make and requires no yeast or proofing. It will not have bubbles and will be a thin tortilla like structure but believe me it is super soft and easy on tummy unlike yeast containing breads. Hope this info will be useful to you.🫓😊

Hello Gemma! I love flatbread. I use it for sandwiches, with soup, but most of all when making burritos or soft tacos. I'm so excited for this recipe! I've been searching for a good healthy flatbread or a tortilla and none can be found! Everywhere I look there are so many unwanted ingredients. This recipe that you have come up with is so amazing! I love the fact that there are only three ingredients and that you added yogurt. I am a one who has a desire to bake bread. I think this is a perfect way for me to really start. I'm not sure of my pan, but I will look and get one as I have to get my yogurt. Thank you as always Gemma for not only giving us delicious recipes, but for being such a great teacher. Also, your recipes are so much fun. I will let you know how it went!❤💚❤

An excellent recipe! I did tweak it, but still the best flatbread I've ever made!
I went for half gram-flour half bread flour, added garlic and coriander into the dough, and rested...
Fried in a bit more butter, so was more of a paratha.
    So simple, so delicious. Thanks.

Hi Gemma! I've been doing a 3 ingredient flatbread for a while for myself, but I only use flour, crushed garlic (for taste can be replaced by other experimental flavors) and water to make the batter. Then I cook it in a very warm pan with no oil or butter until brown patches on both sides. Just dry pan.:-)

I have flatbread s everyday, it's a staple for Indians. Well, if you like flatbreads, try And add a twist in it by stuffing it with cottage cheese, cheese , potato,or cauliflower . They all are amazing . It feels amazing to see ppl like you try out different cuisines and accept cultures so openly.

    Ingredients
Ingrediants: 1- One cup (8oz/225g) full fat natural plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt) Add enough yogurt to match the consistency in the video. You may not need the entire cup depending upon the type of yogurt and flour you use. / 2- One cup (5oz/142g) all-purpose flour /3- Two teaspoons baking powder .
    Optional toppings:
    1/2 cup (4oz/115g) butter
    2-3 cloves garlic (finely minced)
    Some parsley (roughly chopped)
    1 pinch salt (to taste)
    Instructions
In a large bowl combine the flour and baking powder. Next, add in the yogurt and mix with a spatula until the yogurt has absorbed the flour. You will need to get in there with your hands to really bring the dough together.
Please Note: Depending upon where you live and what flour you use, you may not need all of the yogurt. Start with the initial quantity of flour and add yogurt until you get the same consistency as I did in my video. You may not need all the yogurt so it's best to add it little by little.
Once the dough is formed into a smooth ball, place it on a floured surface. Using a knife divide the dough into 6 (2oz) balls.
Working with one ball of dough at a time, roll each one out to an 8 x 8 circle. Try to roll the dough as thin as possible as this will ensure the bread cooks evenly on both sides with nice air bubbles in between.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is heating melt together the butter, minced garlic, and salt in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
Using a pastry brush, brush one side of the rolled dough with the garlic butter before placing it (garlic side down) into a hot skillet. Allow the bread to toast and bubble up cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Once the bread is nice and toasty on each side remove from the heat sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley or herbs of your choice
Repeat this process until all 6 flatbreads are cooked. Stack up on a plate or in a covered basket to keep warm. Store at room temperature for 3 days and reheat on the pan before use.
    Recipe Notes
    * You can replace the all-purpose flour with whole wheat, chickpea or other gluten free flours.
I placed my whole stack of flatbreads in the freezer. I take them out, place them on the pan for roughly 1-2 minutes on each side to refresh and they are ready to use.

One great tip to make it rise without baking powder is to sprinkle dry flour on top after you apply oil on rolled dough. Then make 2 folds to form a triangle and roll again. Sprinkling dry flour helps create bubbles and layers.

Emma thanks for the recipe! I just want to make you know, as well as other viewers that may be interested, that I didn't have plain yoghurt on hand so I used half a cup of cream cheese (spreadable cheese, Philadelphia cheese) and half a cup of semi- skimmed milk) and they turned out lovely!!! Super yummy!!

This is excellent. I have made this as shown in the video and I am very pleased. It is my new standard flat bread for cases when tortillas, roti, paratha, and even pita is called for. A great advantage is that they keep well in the refrigerator for at least a couple of days. Just reheat and they're as good as fresh.

Thank you for trying it out! Yogurts vary in consistency and flours don't absorb liquid the same.
Note to hold back some liquid by using up to 3/4 (1/2 in this recipe) in one go and adjust it accordingly to get the same consistency with mine.

Hello, just one quick question, when you put the flatbread onto the pan, can you then paint the other side of it with the garlic butter, to have the same look and taste on both sides?

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  4 года назад +1

You can but you might burn the other side when you flip it. If you manage that one side doesn't burn, then you can do that.
