I’m from the Oklahoma City area and one of the local radio stations switched from album rock to country when this song was released and legit played this song for the first several hours. I don’t remember now how long but it was a long time, like 8 hours or so, just over and over again.
David's brother Lefty Frizzell is a Hall of Famer. He influenced George Jones, Merle Haggard and everyone after them. (It's friz'-ZELL, by the way)
David is Lefty's son not brother
David, Allen (who married Shelly) are indeed Lefty’s brothers
And my mother is a Frizzell

Baby his last name is pronounced frizz as in my hair has a bit of frizz then ell. frizz-ell. He comes from a musical family. And you can't say enough about Shelly West. She played the Opry every time they had a show after she stopped touring. She had a fantastic voice. ❤❤❤
There used to be a lot of poetry and metaphor and subtext in music. Folk and good old fashioned country is where its at.
