Oh, what a crock of bull shit, they both knew what was about to happen, this had happened far too many times and set up to happen for the simple reason of a breakup, go back in history NONE of them have ever stayed together. Even the original singer of this song Dottie West had her way through the male singers. And he is no COWBOY give me a break.
For something similar, check out Vince Gill and Amy Grant "House of Love". Vince seems actively uncomfortable with the feels he's feeling.
I believe Blake once said that he was married to someone else at the time, and was thinking, I can't be feeling this way. I love watching this, loved how they looked at each other.
Miranda is one of the few artists that I HAD to know who was singing each time I heard her on the radio. She is a great singer AND songwriter. She and Carrie Underwood have a duet called, “Somethin’ Bad”. Listen to “The House That Built Me” and “Gunpowder and Lead” - two different sides of Miranda.

This is actually a cover of a duet by David Frizzell and Shelly West. The story in the song is they grew up together (were in love?) in Oklahoma. She wanted something different and went to California to pursue her dreams. He is still in OK thinking about how for him she gave the state meaning and she is sitting in CA thinking about how he is the one thing in OK that makes her miss the state. To each God made OK so that person could exist as they are. Perhaps I'm wrong, but this is how I've always thought of the song. A fun reaction to a version of this song I'm not familiar with. Blake I have to add was married here.... they had never sang together before this... but I don't think we need to discuss what went on on that stage..... after Blakes divorce, they reconnected and got married and they both state that they fell in love during this performance... and oh man... I remember recording the audio of this on my phone 12 or 13 years ago when I was a teen, and showed it to my dad in the middle of the night as we were driving to Colorado for an elk hunt.. But I think he told me he already heard it. We didn't have internet at the time, but I think he occasionally watched things on the internet while at work for the city. I think that's how he saw it.

He has said in many interviews while they were together, that he fell in love with her right there and then, he was married and knew it was wrong, but yet wished that she was with him.

My interpretation of "You're the reason God made Oklahoma" is just a hyperbolic expression to express love and adoration. I think it's indirectly saying that Oklahoma is a great place, and it was only ever created by God just for them.
I don't know quite how to elaborate it any further.. But I think it's meaning is comparatively similar to the old song, "This land is your land, this land is my land ---this land was made for you and me. 🎶"

Blake's been around since late 90's early 2000's He's amazing and my top 5 favorite singers of all time. Not a fan of Miranda, but I do like a few of her songs. Yep, he's from Ada, Oklahoma. My take on the song is pretty much explained in the line "all the cowboys down on sunset strip are wishing they could be like you". They are posers they aren't real cowboys and can't be real cowboys because they aren't from Oklahoma. The reason God made Oklahoma is because he is from Oklahoma and he wouldn't be the man he is if God hadn't made Oklahoma for him to be from. Of course, Miranda isn't from Oklahoma, she's from Texas. But this song is a cover after all, and Blake is essentially saying the same thing. Each person is the most important thing in the world to the other one and neither would be who they are if God hadn't made Oklahoma. That is why God made Oklahoma. It's a romantic notion after all not meant to be literal, so you kind of just have to take it in context. A slightly obtuse explanation but I think it gets the point across.

I love Miranda Lambert, though most of her music is not my style, but let’s face it, she’s no Shelly West. I can’t stand Blake, and he’s certainly no David Frizzell. That said, I think they did pretty good for this tribute (not cover) and this was the first time they had ever worked together & hadn’t known each other long. Blake later said that he fell in love with her during that performance.
