Yes! Today’s country is missing artists like Patti! You could hear heart and soul and sadness through every aspect of this song. You don’t hear it really much at all these days. Top notch reaction!
The thing that makes this song unique as a breakup song is that there is no bad guy -- just two people whose lives (together) have gone in different directions. Then one day they discover that they are strangers. Great song, great singer, great reaction.
Patty Loveless is country royalty. This song leans on the heart no matter how many times you listen to it.
She has always been one of the most underrated singers of all music. Very few singers can sing live like she can.
Patty Loveless is definitely my all time favorite singer and is one of the greatest, most criminally underrated singers of all time. Not just in country music, but in music in general. She and Loretta Lynn are distant cousins so naturally, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
I completely agree with everything you said Miss Tasha. When people are ranking the best of Country women, no one should ever look past Patty. I'd put her right up there among the greats; Dolly, Reba, Patsy, Loretta, Tammy, and Carrie. To name a few. Patty's voice is so unique, her tone, her inflections, and the power behind it, all make her a legend in my opinion. 🤠
She's one of my favorite vocalist. Makes me Proud to be a Kentuckian. Check out her singing live You'll never leave Harlan alive. I think the reason she gets so emotionally invested in You'll never leave Harlan alive is the fact that with just a few differences she's almost singing about her own life. In her live performance she gives some context that will help you understand.
Some wise person said that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. This song is about two people who got there a long time ago. And, like you said, the vocal that Patty delivers live in this video is chilling. Great reaction!

Tasha I knew you would love this one!!Speaking of Patty Loveless, she along with Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers performed at a sold out benefit called “Kentucky Rising” concert at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY Tuesday night to help the folks in Eastern Kentucky that were devastated by the flooding in July. Over $2.5 million was raised and 100% of the proceeds went to the aid relief! Patty sang “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am” and “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”.
This sounds way better than the studio version. How is that even possible ? Blows my mind !

I'm not prone to celebrity crushes but I had a big crush on her back in the 80s & 90s.
When you fall for Patty, you fall hard. Not only is she beautiful and has that wonderful voice, but she is also a very sweet person. I met her in 1992 and she so down to earth and caring to her fans. I even managed to get a kiss on the cheek and a hug from her that night! 💋

Good Morning, Tasha. I love Patty Loveless. I love how her voice still sounds so...Kentucky. Lol. I had the privilege of meeting her in Detroit when I was in the late 80s or early 90s and having my picture took with her. She was a very sweet lady and hadn’t been out that long then. I got to meet Aaron Tippen that night too. Another very nice guy.

She has a very interesting story she tells about her being at a Loretta concert and reaching out for Lorettas hand and Loretta taking it, patty was a young girl..then later finding they were related...ty, you also do an awesome job with LL...

I know I relate to this song because my ex wife and I grew apart. Maybe if we’d had a talk like this before it was too late we might have been able to save it.
