0:30 - I love how early pre-reset Longhorn build had clock on a logon screen, it's a such a nice touch.
They only reintroduced it in Windows 8, almost 10 years later.

Windows Vista has a superbly magnificent looking UI. From the boot animation to the wallpapers and stuff, everything is ✨perfect ✨
The boot animation has glowing Vista orb whose glowing movement syncs perfectly with the startup sound.
And then there's the logon which also is in sync with the logon sound.
The overall GUI of Vista was beautiful and the last consistent UI made by Microsoft.
Vista still looks better than 11 (at least in my opinion)

Windows Vista's Version of Windows Aero is also more colourful and abstract than Windows 7's Aero Version because it looks like Rip Off from Vista! Windows 10 and Windows 11 suck big ASS because they have The most unoriginal UI EVER!!!

I can remember buying APC and PC Authority straight off the press every month for the latest updates, and also my first experience with Beta 1 in the computing manager's office at my high school - I was amazed at the theme; it was cutting edge at the time - on par with OS X. In some ways, I liked it better than the RTM's after it was released.

One thing that's crucial for understanding how certain elements keep zig-zagging back & forth pre-reset is that the development setup in that phase was quite disorganized. One thing was that each individual sub-team was submitting entire builds all on their own. So the team for one component would submit a build, then another team working on another part of the OS would submit a build of their own even if it predated some of the changes made in that other build. The various builds from various teams became difficult to reconcile with one another. Plus, Longhorn was originally meant as a smaller intermediary project to tide the public over until the release of the larger "Blackcomb" project (as indicated by their namesakes, with the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains being next to one another, with Longhorn Bar & Grill situated on a road between them). However, with no solid consensus on exactly what was OK for Longhorn and what was to be saved for Blackcomb, feature creep started setting in, gradually threatening Blackcomb's very relevance. Not good. So, eventually the project was reset with a streamlined setup.
Windows Vista is for me the most Beautiful OS ever made!

If I’m right the vista/7 UI looks so nice that I’ve been knowing if I return this to Windows 10 via the themes setting. I did but only for the windows 7 default wallpaper from the desktop.

Windows Vista is Basically a Refinement to the Windows OS Family and that's because it introduced The ACPI Driver Model which helps PCs run faster than the Old WDM (Windows Driver Model) Introduced in Windows 98 And Last used in Windows XP which isnt AS SMOOTH as ACPI! Gaming Computers use ACPI, The Majority of Buisness Computers use that respective driver model, And Even Potato PCs from 2010 use ACPI aswell. Thank You Windows Vista!

I have Windows Longhorn Build 3718 and 4015.
Windows Vista's latest and the Betas version was so beautiful. But I am confusing, does all beta version of Windows Vista uses Windows XP sounds?

One thing I always wanted in Classic theme was a Start button with a white flag, but I never knew how to get it. I think it was in a Beta or RC version. Can someone help?

To me, Longhorn is the most beautiful version of Windows, better than Vista RTM.
Meu amigo tinha um notebook com o win Vista ainda em 2013 quando eu estava aprendendo a mexer em SOs , e eu ficava horas passando músicas dele para o meu Android... Eu ainda não tinha computador e achava a área de trabalho dele fantástica.
É a interface gráfica mais bem feita até hoje pela Microsoft. Extremamente consistente e atraente. O windows 7 foi um downgrade na interface apesar que a barra de tarefas ficou bem mais funcional. Depois do 8.1 o sistema ficou inconsistente com áreas que ainda são idênticas desde o windows 98 e menus completamente diferentes com a interface nova.

The betas of Vista were quite interesting.. I find Longhorn interesting because it had a completely different name to XP and Vista. It had XP's kernel and Vista's UI (well, in build 5270)

yes and no. aero was a little too complicated not flat and too 3d for my taste but transparency was great. metro had nice icons tho. luna was great and royale was even better
Longhorn build 5001 looks an Complety downgrade from the Previous Build. It looks like an Poorly made clone more than an Microsoft Windows Official version.
Windows Vista has been actually released in 2004 named Windows Longhorn this was Windows Vista Beta but it's real release year was in 2007.

I almost gave this video a dislike for not showing the Aero theme/interface -- after all, it is one of the best features of Windows Vista (and 7) and **the** reason why many people love that look to this day.
However (and even though I still won't revoke my complaint), it was counterbalanced by the history of the interface: this video shows us the "missing link(s)" between the very visually distinct XP and Vista.

Microsoft happed to call the new Windows version ,Longhorn, but it wasnt longhorn. it was a client version of Windows based on Server 2003 with the codename Vista
