Zack didn't ever draw his sword against angeal untill he mentioned aerith.
When Angeal discovered he was a monster, he entrusted his pride to Zack.
When Sephiroth discovered he was a monster, he went insane clinging to his pride.
Its probably because Seph knew he wasn't born into this world he was created. Similar to mewtwo in pokemon, they try to find their own purpose in life.

She can't do it with clouds, she still think she couldn't fit with him, the dense mc or the cool one, must be got pretty serious, clouds was chosen to strike back anything everyone has lost, do not care he only goal is defeat sephiroth cause he know, he must do it to protect everyone that's why his expression is pretty less than before, he know will lost everything in journey tryin so hard to not sad but, he can't do it, hide it only matter of time to explode soon.
I love that he doesn't cry about Angeal until the next day with Aerith. That's too real knowing that you won't ever see the people you care about in the next day once they die. In a world with an item to bring back a downed person, it still hurts like hell when you see a confirmed death in Final Fantasy.
Lot of stories are guilty since they want to keep a fast pace of not really letting the moments sink in. Here it definitely hits harder just having a character ugly cry. Or they do the opposite and it's too exaggerated which anime is very guilty of. Here it's just depressingly real. Even the hug from a cute girl can get you out of your funk you just gotta let it run its course.
0:27 That sequence of Angeal swinging and Zack dodging into the "Stop it!" was so damn SMOOTH! Can't believe this game came out in 2007 on a handheld console. It was such a quality game.

@@silverphantomsp3821 especially with custom firmware, it was a beast for emulation and multimedia... I still have mine working. In fact someone tried to make a Sega Dreamcast emulator on the PSP but it nothing was really playable... but the fact that someone got the dreamcast menu to load was super impressive.
The ownership of that sword is fleeting at best.

I love how subtle it is. No asking of "what happened" or "what's wrong" etc.. it's a simple act of hug and that's it. Sometimes, that's all that's needed.

When Zack said "Angeal, what happened to honor!?" I felt that 😭😭😭
Angeal’s veiled threat towards Aerith made Zack fight. Zack was probably scared that Aerith would get dragged into the fight in Angeal’s quest to die.
Zack and Angeal were like father and son entrusted with everything he had also Zack entrusted everything to cloud as well Zack reunited with Angeal and Aerith in the Lifestream that is incredible
I think they are more like sibling relationship with Angeal the older brother and Zack the younger brother.

Terry just got out prison and had no time to play, Succubi Pie just got into the series last year because their older sibling passes along the old PSP with both FF7 and Crisis Core. So many variables...that's like saying everyone should know everything just because we weren't born yesterday. We can't all play games 24/7/365.

In the part where Aerith hugs Zack while he cries, I can't help but wonder how Sephiroth is handling the loss.
Think about it, Zack had Aerith to mourn with,while Sephiroth didn't have anyone anymore.
I can't help but to wonder that if Sephiroth ever did mourn, would him mourning by himself contribute to his insanity?

In my headcanon, he did mourn. Genesis and Angeal were his only friends until Zack came around. He may not be the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, but Sephiroth was also human, and I'm willing to bet that his heart was also in pain upon hearing the news his buddy died.
Although Angeal was a brand-new character in Crisis Core, his death was the first part of the game that made me cry.
this mission is the saddest and the hardest mission, i played this game when i'm fifth/sixth grade but getting that iconic sword and iconic zack look is kinda paid the price
It's just ashame that angeal barely used it
Playing through this and watching Zack the puppy grow to mirror Angeal and his values really hits still.

@@Killer_Kris7 What the new voice actor for Zack was also getting death threats for him and his family that is unheard of I didn’t know there was an article or a rumor about that and no one deserves that anyways speaking on that scene I do think the new va will do a fairly good job but I don’t think it’s gonna be as good as Rick Gomez After seeing that reunion trailer in my opinion because from what I see when you compare his voice to Rick Gomez I just pales in comparison due to the fact of how exceptional rick Gomez was when it came to voicing Zack.

Yeah hearing Zack's voice from the original makes me realize how perfect Rick Gomez was for the role. There was so much more emotion put into the lines. Glad I still have a copy of the original PSP game. I think all the original voice actors were better in the OG, Although Angeal wasn't terrible in the remake, but still liked the original better.

I am currently playing Crisis Core, and it is the first Final Fantasy that I played, and 1 day ago I had to play this part and it made me cry, I did not expect it, it is the saddest thing I have seen so far

Lol I remember an old Crisis Core YTP from a long time ago. When Angeal says "Let me show you", and then Hollander says "Stop it, you don't know what you're doing", he lets out a huge fart sound. XD
I don't know if that YTP still exist, but I remember laughing so hard at that part. XD

I remember failing against this boss repeatedly. One of the reasons was 'cause up until this point, I didn't know how Phoenix Down worked in this game. And had to look it up, eventually.
Edit: forgot to mention that Unleashed Wrath (4:53) was the main reason. Either finishing me off, (even if I'm *close* to full health) or actually one-hitting me.

One of the parts that hit the hardest is this is the halfway point of the game And the buster sword is passed to Zack and in the scenes following an instrumental version of Why plays. Than in the end when Zack passes the sword to Cloud we get the full vocal version

The PSP emulator upscaling is so good. I'm not even sure an official HD port could match it.
What settings do I have to use to get it to look this good?
Pre rendered still doesn't look good. A proper remaster is still better. Textures are reworked /replaced and some even done from scratch. Cutscenes are upscale and framrate is enhanced if done correctly. If blueprint ever remastered this game I doubt anyone would even consider emulator. Like he god of war 2 remaster on ps3.

@Shurryy Namegenerator Yes, Zack was his friends but he wanted to be like Sephiroth. Cloud only take the Soldier "place" from Zack in his Memory and Zack's Buster Sword.

Having run across this scene again last night when playing through Reunion, I forgot the gels and it hit me pretty hard. The story of Cloud in 7 was pretty tragic, but to get the back story of Zack in this game. To see that not all Shinra were bad, and to see why Aerith clung to Cloud so closely in 7. Zack was a true hero. So glad they reunited at the end of Advent Children

You know ... This scene proved the power scaling of everyone involved in the Jenova projects. Far too often, I hear people say that Genesis was second tier only to Sephiroth -- but they clearly forget about this scene. Sephiroth > Angeal > Genesis.
Crisis core is my number 1 most favorite FF game in the whole series.

What I love in this game is the theme of freedom. We all know that Genesis and Angeal after finding the truth about themselves sought for freedom with their own miseries. With Angeal dying in this scene, he finally obtained freedom through Zack.
Gonna have to replay this one

Lost to this fight so many times cause I was a kid who had no idea how to set up equipment. When I finally did, this hit my heart like a truck filled with explosives.
The memories
While I think the Japanese dub is great, I can't help but feel that the English version is even better (personal opinion). These days, voice actors have such a hard time nailing the tonality and emotion present in these scenes but back then, they did it perfectly. (I used to watch anime in dub way back when and anime from the early 2000s had stellar English voice acting, with the greatest example being Dragon Ball Z. Anime nowadays, not so much. Apparently, games follow the same trend, if Crisis Core Reunion is anything to go by.)
Mmm the voice actors are largely good in the remake but their voice direction seems lacking.
A lot of flat delivery of lines, which is unfortunate because the original that’s on display here is just so good.
But if you feel VA quality has dropped the last few years for anime look at Kaguya Sama they start up nailed that dub.
rick's voice just has that charisma than caleb. he will always be the best zack VA for me. 😎

He was sleep deprived from having to watch for the turks and soldiers for a year. While caring for Cloud, he also had to deal with Genesis and all the monsters native to the different regions they passed through. Plus little food and water due to being on the run. By the time the army arrived, he was running on fumes. Still killed an entire battalion (1000 soldiers) - 3.
