Well he is a first class SOLDIER. The other 1st class before him were big enemy bosses so, he's probably on that level too. As for Cloud, he isn't really 1st class. But he does get stronger with every tragedy he goes through just as what Sephiroth mentioned in FF7R.
I never really hate genesis. He just really hate shinra and he wants to save himself from degration. Shinra is guilty for his problem and Hollander is the one behind this misery. He even asked Zack to join him against shinra in Banora. If Genesis wasn’t so annoying with those Lovesless crap and actually explain to people, things would have turned a lot easier = =
When I picked up this game again I was expecting it to get emotional. What I was not expecting was to feel so angry at Sephiroth and so sorry for Genesis. I mean, they're both misguided but with a similar backstory, Genesis was just trying to save his own skin and get back together with his two friends whereas Sephiroth decided he now owns the fucking planet.
I will forever die on the hill that genesis was right hes just a bitch by nature. Shinra screwed all of them over so bad but sephiroth is the one that decided he needed to rule the world meanwhile genesis just wanted his fucking friends back and to not die a miserable rotting death. It's bad enough angeal kills himself and im pretty sure he was 90% of the impulse control between gen and seph. Poor zack is thrown into this madness and expected to take on the mantle of angeal. And despite everything gen isnt a villain by the end of the game the creators even recently said the secret ending in DoC isnt meant to be malicious on gens part proving if he does come back it wont be as an enemy. He got his honor back by the end of crisis core. Gen is one of those characters i love to shit talk but i will fight to defend his character.

Not to mention that this Crisis Core Reunion came out just now, because since the 7 remake, there are traces of time travel, and the Rebirth trailer already starts showing the past, so it is very likely that Genesis will appear again.

Zack is an absolute monster: was capable to defeat Angeal's Monster form been just a rockie, he was able to put a good fight to Sephirot itself, defeated Genesis in both phases, and most importantly, he endured for hours against a entire Army! Man, Zack should be a living God of War by Final Fantasy's standards.
For anybody not understanding why the ending is different.. This is the new timeline where sephiroth is defeated into Advent Children. So crisis core - Ff7 - Advent Children - Restarted timeline - Crisis core remake - Ff7 remake - FF7 rebirth.

Man this Genesis Avatar version is way more easier on the ps4/ps5 then the psp version it took even longer and i remember i was leveled up alot more on the psp i beat this boss at level 35 on ps4.

Zack is a downgrade, Genesis was also better in OG, but its not a huge problem. Still better than that lackluster OG (referring to the awful combat thanks to these DBM interruptions)

He was for reasons unknown moved to a secret underground lair and kept in stasis Zack only wanted to save Genesis, and left him there thinking he'd get back up and leave

You don't have to play it, voice sounds fine, Rick Gomez wasn't that good either ya know, replaying the PSP version....they weren't that good haha, but sephiroth still had impact
