Αγία Τριάδα του Νερού, Πεντέλη / Holy Trinity of water small church, Penteli

Στο σημερινό βίντεο σας παρουσιάζω το γραφικό εκκλησάκι της Αγίας Τριάδας του Νερού που βρίσκεται στην πλατεία της Πεντέλης. Μέσα από το βίντεο θα μάθετε ιστορικά στοιχεία για αυτό και θα το δείτε από επίγεια και εναέρια πλάνα.
The small church is located in the square of Penteli. It is dedicated to the holy trinity, that is, as our church says, to the 3 persons or hypostases of God, which are the Father, the son and the holy spirit. It is called the holy trinity of water, a name that comes from the source that exists in a small distance from the chapel and which used to spring up.
The small church was built between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and is part of the Holy Monastery of Penteli, located nearby, which we have presented in a previous video, which you can refer to in the link in the description.
The small church has Byzantine elements which are not easily distinguishable due to the fact that it is whitewashed and due to the interventions and additions that have been made. It is a collapsing cruciform temple and it is remarkable that no painted decoration has been preserved.
The small church was an ascetic for the monk Timotheus, who was the founder of the Post-Byzantine monastery of Penteli, who lived there during the works and construction of the monastery.
The feast of the Holy Trinity or Holy Spirit is movable and depends on when Orthodox Easter is celebrated. It is usually celebrated in June.
Every year a three-day festival is held in this small church, to which crowds of people flock from all over Attica, as it is one of the oldest, largest and best-known festivals.
