I have been making these potholders for decades I love them and people request them to be gifted to them again and again. They are long lasting and just fantastic. But you have taught me a new trick as to how to close them up. Wait till people get the new ones after this knowledge is applied. Thank you!!!

I bought a 10 pack of cheap silicone square trivets/potholes off Amazon for like 8 bucks to put inside when using a thinner yarn. Works great. After doing one, you really don't have to mess with stitch markers....just know the side without the tail is the side where you complete a round and start the next round.

This is my favorite pot holder to crochet. I’ve been doing it for 30 years plus years. I actually saw a couple of potholders in a thrift store and went on a search for the pattern. We called it a magic square if I remember correctly. Now it’s has had so many different name variations that I don’t remember.

Best version I’ve ever seen. I was shown how to make these some years back. My preference is smaller; mug mat. Hadn’t made any for several years, so was having problems starting. Solution: youtube. I’m a beginner crocheter, but fluent knitter. Thank you for this excellent video. As soon as I find or purchase a smaller hook, I’ll be back to your video.

TY for your video tutorial. I liked the first part of the pattern but when it comes to the closing of the seam, I much prefer the mattress stitch, which is a beautiful, invisible, flat joining seam that I learned for connecting the Granny Squares. If you haven’t tried the mattress stitch yet, look it up and give it a try!
Meema Makes does a most excellent video on it!
