You made this look so easy, can’t wait to start. I too prefer crochet. I did knit one scarf several years ago. Thank you for posting this 😊
You are so welcome!
Started my hot pad/ pot holder, I too am mainly a crocheting hobbyist but have found I also like knitting too! It has been challenging but last year I made my family all scarves and attempted to knit a hat. 😮 thanks for sharing 😊
Wonderful! It is a fun project - I have made several as gifts!
Turned out really nice and thick. Love the look, it has substance.
We love them.
What a wonderful diy! Will certainly be making some, thanks for sharing 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Just found your channel! Love everything I am watching. These look easy enough I crochet but I think I can do it.
You can do it!
I just loved this. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Thank you! I have been looking for this pattern! Wahoo!
You’re welcome 😊
Wow. Thank you for sharing how to make this. It was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Love this!!
Dido
I did this tonight! 6mm is certainly substantial! Think I'll try a thinner cord for coasters! Thanks for the idea 😊
👍
I used 4mm Cora’s Craft Cord from Hobby Lobby. They have several colors. It came out really nice. Just thick enough and easy to work with.
Great video. Love you go slow enough for a newbie. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
Love this project ❤️
Thanks!
Love this pot holder!! I am a crochet hobbyist & have only done a few knitted scarves (3 years ago, lol!!)
I think I can do this!! ❤😅 Ordering
Thanks and It's a fun project!
Love it! I made one and it came out perfect. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful! Great job!!
Hi could you tell me where you purchased your cotton yarn?
I'm a knitter and crocheter but this was really tough to do. Didn't want to slide very well on the bamboo needles. I ended giving up because it was so tough.
Thank you for such a great project. Wonder how this cord would work for scrubbies for dishes? Would make a cute set for the kitchen...
I used 3mm cord and did the same pattern for coasters - which would be the size of a scrubbie - never thought of using them as scubbies. Great idea!
Wonderful video!
Thank you very much!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I've been searching for this since I saw these pot holder/trivets in a local boutique shop. I cannot wait to get started! Your tutorial is PERFECT!!!! 🎄
You are so welcome! Have fun!!
iI'm new to knitting so I had troubles following along, although I felt it was a great video. I purchased the 5mm cording, but had to start over three times hahahhaa.........but not giving up. I was confused about the casting on part -- it wasn't clear that you using the tail part to cast on......finally figured it out. I'm determined to get this right!! I too saw and purchased the tribet at a gift store and loved it. I want to make these!!! Thank you for your video. ;-)
Glad it was helpful! I love giving these as gifts, they are just fun and unique.
Loved being shown how to do the hot pad. Was hoping to know how the loop was done, as what was shown in her first picture. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you use the 3mm cord? I love your video. I recently saw these at a boutique and thought, I could make those :).
No - it is 6 mm. Here is the link amzn.to/3rZkLCO
Great video, very easy to understand. Do you think the finished product will be thick enough to use as a trivet for hot pots on the table?
Yes, absolutely!! They are very thick!
@@DIYOnTheHouse can I use a thinner one? Saw some 3 mm and 4 mm for half off
@@RB-fz9gg I use the thinner one with a large crochet hook, so smaller knitting needles would work great!
Could you show this in crochet? It’s exactly what I’m looking for but I don’t knit!
By chance I have a video going up in 2-3 weeks on that.
Looove it, just what I was looking for. Do you know the messurement of the potholder? Thank you 😊
Cool! It is 7.25" x 7.25"
@@DIYOnTheHouse thank you 🥰
Very nice, thanks for sharing, i saw these on amazon and it said crochet pot holder for 19 dollars, i knit and crochet and i know it is not crochet, thanks again,🙋🏼♀️❤️
Your welcome
love this hot pad. I'm a knitter so I ordered the supplies according to your link. You said size 9 knitting needles.
When I recieved them from amazon. They are clover bamboo needles. Your needles on your video look much bigger.
They look like they are an 11. Please let us know if that is the case or your really using 9 needles for this hot pad.
Thanks
We love them as well. I only have size 9 needles. Thanks
I bought the 6mm cotton cord but used size 9 needles. size of needles shouldn't make any difference. The larger needles will just give it that chunky look. I bought bamboo
needles also. When I proceeded to make this, I found it was very, very hard to slide the cotton yarn over the bamboo needles. It was so tough I ended up giving up. I am knitter of many years
and have make many things but this was very hard to make. Can you give me any suggestions please. I love this!
I agree, it is harder than using yarn for sure! I had to keep mine loose, otherwise I couldn't get it to slide. If it is grabbing on your needles, maybe rub wax paper on the needles??
Great video- Where do I find that leather holder part? Is that a kit? Thank you from Colo
It is scrap leather. The best place to purchase small quantities of leather is Hobby Lobby. You can also cut up old leather items, like purses from the thrift store and use the leather.
Can you give us a link for the rivit kit and the leather
The kit amzn.to/43ecdon. For the leather, you just need a few inches. Hobby Lobby is a good option - I use thin goat leather.
Qu can i use this stitch for 4 bulk yarn or more to make a blanket a starter one I'm green to knitting?
absolutely! I'm sure it will be beautiful! If you do a blanket can you please send me a picture? I would love to see it.

Your project calls for 6mm cord, but, the link you posted does not include a 6mm. So will a 5mm cord be too much smaller?
Oh, I see that they don't offer the 6mm. The 5mm will work great! Have fun!!
In the video it shows using 6mm cord. I followed your link in the description and it takes you to 3mm cord which is what I ordered. It seems very small can you look into the link and let me know what needs to be ordered thank you for the pattern.
Sorry about that. The product has different size options below the description - here is the link to the 6mm. amzn.to/3rZkLCO
Make sure to keep your knitting loose the cotton rope doesn’t have much give. I had to restart 3 x as I’m a tight knitter..
Thanks for the tip!
Would size 11 needles be way too big? The needles are $12 a pair, and don't really want to invest in another pair for potholders.
I think they would be fine!
Is this hot pad knitted thick enough to use when taken g items out of the oven without burning your hands?
Super thick!
Are the knitting needle 8 or 9 us or mm
It's a 9mm
I have a 50 ft skein and a 30 ft. can I link them together?
This thick of cord would be pretty tough to join. Were you able to try joining them?
Those knitting needles look much larger than a size nine, what kind did you use, please.
I am so sorry - THANK YOU - for catching this! I use size 9 on my macrame thread, and never caught that I said the wrong size! This uses size 13: amzn.to/3RDCGsG -- Thanks again! Totally appreciate it!
Does the leather strap withstand heat ok and not melt?
Totally stands up to heat! Love it!
your amazon link for the cord is 3mm. not 6 mm, do you know where i can purchase a reasonable priced 6 mm cord?
That same link in the description has multiple sizes -- the last I looked, the 6mm was not available - but 5mm would work good!
The link to the cord is incorrect. It offers 3 different sizes but no 6mm. What is the size of the knitting needles? someone commented they ordered but looked much smaller than the ones you used in the video. Please explain both the cord and they needles sizes.
The link has 5mm cord when you scroll down. They had 6 mm when I made the video - but 5 mm will work with the same size needles. amzn.to/2LpgHX7 Have fun!!
Hi can I make placemats using this size of knitting needles?
That is a fantastic idea!! I bet they would look incredible!
@@DIYOnTheHouse So can I?
@@user-uk7rg8bm3c Yes - for sure!
I clicked on the link for the knitting needles - size 9 came up- I ordered them - they look smaller than what you show. 😢
Sorry, I missed seeing your comment. Did your needles work for you?
where do I order the leather and grommet kit?
I get the parts and pieces at Hobby Lobby, also If you have a Tandy Leather they have it.
How many pot holders were you able to make with 1 roll of macrame cord
Shoot, I am not sure. Tons! I made them for 14 days straight while my dad was in the hospital - the nurses all got one!
Ok great! Can this be made using 3 or 4mm macrame cord instead of 6mm macrame cord?
@@shakeeras3029 I made crochet ones with 3mm - and they were adorable. Obviously they won't be as chunk - but they were cool!
Ok cool!
Just walking around the hallmark store with no currency
😀
Video keeps repeating at the beginning!
Sorry, I will look into it!
Your description states size 9 knitting needles. Your link to amazon also is size 9. I trusted this. And its absolutely too small for the thick cord. What size are you actually using? It would be nice to know. It's surprising that this video has been up for 1 year and not corrected. Wasted time and money trusting
I am so sorry - THANK YOU - for catching this! I use size 9 on my macrame thread, and never caught that I said the wrong size! This uses size 13: amzn.to/3RDCGsG -- Thanks again! Totally appreciate it!
I've never knitted until this. Your video really simplified the process. It was a challenge for me as a lefty. But after ordering larger needles, I was able to figure it out. I appreciate the correction as I wouldn't want the same thing to happen to someone else. If I wasn't new to this, I probably would have known better what to get. But all is well and I've completed several of these. Thank You again
