I like this lens it has some bad reviews because of distortion but that can be an advantage and a unique look photography is about art not optical perfection . I love the fact that it is half the price of the Sony can focus close which is a great bonus and 20mm is my all time favourite focal length ever since using the old canon DSLR 20 back in old days .Great honest review and this lens is already on my buy list.
Hi Richard, the title needs attention. Thanks for pointing out to change Lens Comp./Distortion Comp. I wasn't even aware that that was an option. Superb!
nice video as always - think the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 might be more flexible for me - so I would loose 8mm with - if it was f1.8 then would get for sure or even f2
Hi Jon. Thank you! The zoom definitely is more flexible! But remember the price of the 28-75 is about 2.5x the price of this prime. This lens also is much wider and has better macro capability. But I also wish tamron release a 50-60mm instead of the 24mm... So it's 20, 35,50/60mm which makes it 35, 50, 75/90 equivalent for apsc. I feel the 24 is a bit overlapping with the 20mm so people would only pick one of the two.
hi, I'm not a professional photographer just a normal streamer who loves to upgrade her cam that's why im having second thoughts on investing the sony 20mm G 1.8.....is the tamron 20mm 2.8 already good for a streaming camera?
Nice Video. I wish all the youtubers would start asking/demanding camera companies to add a blending option to their mirrorless or live view cameras to make it easy to take the same photo with different lenses/setting/isos/speeds/times of day. Just give us an option to load/play a photo, set opacity and then all these comparisons become really easy and accurate. It would also make taking extreme time lapses much easier. This function has been in stop motion tools for years, time to put it directly in the cameras.
Very different lens. I think Tamron is technically better lens and more user friendly because of the size. But viltrox has bigger aperture and more metal construction which some people would prefer
What a wonderful review. It was a pleasure to look and I am happy to take this lens in my hands tomorrow 😌
Thanks for watching and enjoy your new Lens
Thanks for the review and the tips about turn on the distortion compensation. That makes a huge improvement
Thanks Jamie!!

Yes agree optical perfection is not always needed for everything. Thanks for watching mark!
Thank you, this is a great review. Would be interesting to try a comparison with the 18 Batis

Hey Doug, thanks! Just fixed the title. That's what happens when you upload video at 1am! Haha. Yes the compensation is quite a wonderful feature.
Thanks Richard. Good fair review, good information
Thank you Ernest!
Fits perfectly to the A7C.
Nice review as usual Richard 👍 looks like a neat product. Wish it is a f/2

yes it should be a more cost effective solution, it works well unless you have to shoot under really low light

Hello, Which one do you recommend between that and the 20mm viltrox? Thanks

@@TheRealRichardWong Thanks for the answer, the only thing that I don't go directly for the tamron is because of the distortion ☹️
