I own the Viltrox 20mm and the sharpness is really good, great for the price. Light and enjoyable. Even when cropping quite a bit. Also for enviromental portraiture.
I'm getting the Viltrox today. Can't wait. Had the Tamron and mine was insanely slow. Viltrox budget lenses are slower than Sony but the Tamron was the slowest to focus.
Thank you very much for the video,Se! Yesterday I saw some photos taken with the Sony A72 and the Viltrox 20 mm f2.8,and they blew me away! If I bought a Sony full frame camera, maybe the Sony A7C,I would definitely buy this lens.
I have Japan vlog (also travel) channel, and because of your video I'm gonna get the Viltrox. This short review is reaaaally nice!! Congrats and keep it up! My today specs is A7S (First Generation) and the 16-50mm F3.5 using crop mode LOL
Thanks Chris! The whole video, a month. Maybe about 35 hrs. Lens review takes time, let alone 3 of them. There were lot more tests and footage but I try to keep the video around 10 min 😅
Great video! I've been considering the Voltrox and was scared of quality issues, but considering the price and size it sounds perfect for what I'd use it for. Appreciate the humor too :)
Awesome video man ! keep this very good work :) I've got the tamron 20-40 but I would like something even lighter and not very expensive for my outdoor adventures, gonna pick up the viltrox :)
This channel is perfection! The amount of extra effort you go to is not wasted on myself! My own RUclips channel I eventually decided to reduce the time I put into my videos so I'd actually still make them - about 6 to 8 hours of editing per video. You must be spending an age, this is absolutely brilliant!
The samyang has autofocus bug, even after upgrading to the newest firmware (and the upgrade process is troublesome, requires the "lens station"). I would recommend the Viltrox.
I heard a lot about this viltrox focus problem, it is really solved with the new firmware update? A little bit scared to buy just because of this problem, that seems to be very commom
On a 33 megapixels sensor Camera there will not be as big a difference in sharpness as if it was a 60 megapixels Camera ! The Sony 20mm 1.8 G is the best performing 20mm Lens for Sony, but if you do not need autofocus, you should also look at the more compact Zeiss Loxia Distagon 21mm 2.8 T* Lens.
i really wanted to like the Tamron but man, its softer than a loaf of bread and the AF noise is just a No for me. Will be looking for the Sony on used market. Thanks for the entertaining video.
That intro was the only reason why I saw this to the end. Goated.
Lol that 8 inch policy is real! Great video Se! I had the Tamron 20mm but didn't like it. The Viltrox looks quite promising actually.
Hey Mario!!!! Haha yeh I don't know who makes up these policies. Clearly not a videographer\photographer. Viltrox shaking things up!
I own the Viltrox 20mm and the sharpness is really good, great for the price. Light and enjoyable. Even when cropping quite a bit. Also for enviromental portraiture.
Your video is a delight to watch! I own a 23mm 1.4 APS-C Viltrox lens and I gotta say, the little guy packs a punch 😁
Haha thanks so much! Yeh Viltrox doing big things with these little ones 😁👍
I'm getting the Viltrox today. Can't wait. Had the Tamron and mine was insanely slow. Viltrox budget lenses are slower than Sony but the Tamron was the slowest to focus.
Viltrox at $160 is crazzzy deal
Haha, dude my last grocery bill was higher than $160 😂
But it's not very sharp and only 2.8. It may be 180 dollars , but that money could go towards a better lens
Thank you very much for the video,Se!

This really helped me for choosing 20mm lenses! Thanks for the nice comparison. :)
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for letting me know! 😄🙏

thank you so much, i'll buy my Viltrox today 😊
Hi, thanks for the review finally I decide to viltrox
dude lol insane video. how long it take for you to get this video from start to finish???
Thanks Chris! The whole video, a month. Maybe about 35 hrs. Lens review takes time, let alone 3 of them. There were lot more tests and footage but I try to keep the video around 10 min 😅
Excellent review! You covered just about everything on the comparisons. Thank you!! 👍

Nice video voltrox is hard to beat for what it is!!!! Loving the Talkhead setup nice!!!!
Haha yeh I still don't know how this lens is that cheap! Thanks Rick! Means a lot coming from the master of talking head setup!
great video! gonna pick up the viltrox cause of this!
Great video, Se! Third-party lenses have come a long way! Love your humor!
Haha thanks Duke! This is going to be an interesting future for lenses.

Awesome review. Love the humor too!
Great review
LOL love all your humor as always. This is why I am a Sony snob LOL Great video bro! Still love the hanging tube lights....so cool.
Thanks Paul! I'm just trying to have fun these days. 😁
Sony A7iv can fix it in camera for barrel distortion for video too right? So no problem actually.
Great video! Great lens comparison! And an amazing intro!
Haha thanks Ivan! and a great BTS test host! 👊
But is viltrox good for photography? Iam looking for a lens to bring hiking(light lens and compact). Or any recommendation?
Cool review!
Thanks Trevor!
Macro capability sold me on the Tamron.
Do all the lens work with Catalyst Browse?
6:25 even your camera could replied
😁😁😁
Samyang 18mm 2.8 vs Viltrox 20mm 2.8? 🤔
The samyang has autofocus bug, even after upgrading to the newest firmware (and the upgrade process is troublesome, requires the "lens station"). I would recommend the Viltrox.

At 160$ I don't think it's a big deal plus it has a type c connector that you can connect to the computer to upgrade its firmware.
Subscribed!
dude such an underrated channel

I would include samyang 18mm as a purchase option if someone is looking at 20mm.

LMFAO incredible dude
Haha for this one, whatever I said after I hit record was game. LOL. Thanks for the ending b-roll test shot!
Some great jokes in here hahaa. Love it! Of all the ultrawide lenses I’ve seen the Viltrox really looks great!
Haha thanks Mike! Mind as have some fun and leave some memories while making this. Viltrox giving some competition! It’s a great thing.
sugar-filled kid LMAO bro wtf is going on hahahaha
I had the Tamron. It was such a meh lens. Not only do you hear the autofocus you can feel it in the camera.
Next session wear a lighter colour shirt.
