First time seeing a new post under an hour after it drops. Love the content! Been watching your channel for about 7 months now since I got my ZV-E10.
Thanks for tuning in!!
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. Looks like a fun little lens.
It really is!!
Thank you soooo much for this video!! I was on Amazon looking for a full frame wide lens for my a7c to vlog and came across this lens. I immediately came to RUclips to see some reviews and yours was first! And you answered my questions😁…
Impressed! With both the lens and the amazing RUclipsr.
I mean, he's no Mark Wiemels - but he gets the job done!!
Cool review Mark, thanks for the heads up on this. I don't need another lease but will probably pick this one up anyway for my zve1 and a7cii. Thank you!
Amazing review thank you!
You released the first review! Viltrox loves Mark!!
I don't know if they do - but they SHOULD!! 🤣🤣
Thanks for the review. Great lens at the price for sure.
This looks like the perfect budget lens for vlogging on full frame. Also available in Nikon Z mount for my Z5. Thanks for a great review!
Mark is not only showing us homeless budget lenses that are bangers, but he's not forcing us to watch unskippable 30 second ads.
He's the real hero here.
I actually have no control over the ads - but I definitely consider myself a hero
lol@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
I have old tiny sony 20/2.8 pancake. Useful and enough good for video. Perfect for small gimble. Love it.
such an easy lens to take!!
Just came in the mail today. Can't wait to put it to work.
Absolute banger!
thanks for the great video💯
Thanks for this video very helpful will be pre ordering this lens.
You’re welcome!!
Oh, I'm impressed!
Thanks for this review Mark. I'm about to go on a trip and I think this lens is worth carrying.
Wow. What a great price. Thanks for the heads up!
Love your video🎉
Lens of my dreams!!! I will remind myself to use the affiliate link.
I KNEW you'd like this one.
This looks amazing for full frame ! There is a 16mm f2.8 apsc lens from sony which costs around 115$, would be great to see a review about it as it fits in the same category but for apsc shooters !
it's a pretty old lens that isn't particularly sharp - but it would be nice to put them side by side.
thanks for the great video😍 i think the best vlogging lens for Zv-e1 is the g 11mm 1.8 as u said before
yes - that’s great too
Wow the pricing on this lens is absolute madness! This would be an amazing addition if you just carry around an all in one zoom like the Tamron 28-200mm (which I do when I'm backpacking). I currently always carry my Sony 20 f1.8 for that reason and also for the occasional milky way photo in the backcountry. Awesome!
This is me I have the 28 - 200 and I use it for everything. I need something in the low 20s
Man, I already have the Sony 20mm but would love something smaller/lighter! Wish it was 18mm but boy it's cheap enough! Great review, stay safe out there ;)
It’s sooo light
Could the low weight be because of plastic lenses? I wonder how such lenses hold up long time, regarding aspects like contrast and yellowing. I would love to hear about it at some point :)
Lol, I'm in the same boat as you. Would love to have this just because of the size. I do love my 20G. I wonder if I'd miss the f/1.8
so tempting to try! I would love something lighter... @@duvalpenny100
Viltrox is going to throw oem lens market into disarray. Insane price.
Спасибо за ваши тесты
I like the image with Viltrox better than GM, the highlights are better preserved and the bokeh is quite sufficient with 2.8. And the zv-e1 looks like a dream camera for these kinds of uses.
Yes - sometimes stopping down to 1.8 will blow out your highlights!!
Adding to my wishlist 🥺
Uh oh. Impuse buy alert! Would be amazing for vlogging and some indoor video. How does it compare to Tamron’s 20mm 2.8, in terms of quality? Tamron used is same price range. Thanks, Mark!
Wish minimum distance had more contrast for my close up shots. What's your best value lense with quickest focus breathing and auto focus for macro shots. Apsc. Zve10. Focus breathing is my nightmare for close ups. Ive just been shooting manual because of this, but sometimes I'm off and then have to scrap the footage. Your recommendation could be helpful.
really like your channels👍🏻~
Will you be doing a video on the Dji Osmo Pocket 3? Looks awesome for vlogging.
Just got mine in. Still early, but a really nice lens. Small and compact and light. Feels a lot like the Sony 11mm 1.8 apsc. The bokeh for 2.8 is surprisingly good. Thank You for the recommendation. I like it, now please stop making me buy more lenses😂
I make no promises!!
You should have compared the two lenses at the same fstop. Would have been more interesting
A no brainer- when it comes out I'm gonna order.
Finally some more wide angle full frame lens! Glad to have a cheaper alternative than the sony 14mm 1.8 GM or 20m 1.8 G lenses
The Viltrox 16mm 1.8 is also a good value! :-)
@@svenyss is that a full frame?
@@svenyss ouu it is that sounds like the exact thing I'm looking for! Currently have the sony 24-70mm 2.8 gmii and the sony 10-18mm f4 oss but would like more bokeh
Nice that the Sammy 18 2.8 finally has proper company.
Great review! it would be great if they make a COMPACT & light weight 16mm f2.8 for Sony full frame, or a 16-50mm f2.8 one...
I love the lens
Great vid as always Marky Mark! DJI OSMO POCKET 3 has changed the game when it comes to vlogging. Thoughts??
Seems pretty great. Expensive here in Canada though. I still might get one 🤣
Every vid you bring out the ZV-E1 makes me want it so bad. God I wish I weren't broke 😂My biggest issue this year has been shaky footage. Can't afford a gimbal. And certainly can't afford a camera body with stabilization like the ZV-E1. Perhaps someday I'll get to experience it.
It’s pretty good. But a cheaper option for sure is a smaller camera like the Zv-e10 and the software (free) catalyst browse or a cheap gimbal
What are your color settings in vlogging test, looks so soothing, wathcing on Asus OLED laptop.
Everythign is acceptable at this price. Its performance is on par with any 300$ lens.
I’d love to see this on the FX30
Hi Mark! Thank you tough rebel for this presentation 😎 The lens seems great buy. 2 things I would like to ask you: Did you notice difference in active or dynamic stab between the two? Did you use the same AF settings when you compared focus breathing?
yes, I used the same settings to compare focus breathing (but any new Sony will compensate for the G). I found dynamic stab works the same on 3rd party and Sony lenses, but with the active stabilization, the Sony lenses work better to my eyes
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks!
can you do a comparison between this and tamron 20mm 2.8?
Saw A6700 ZV-E10 in your title. Was disappointed that you didn't actually try the lens on an aps-c. Just a quick mention at the end that you could use it on those.
yeah - I wish I had more time to show it - but the image quality of course will be the same - just a tighter view
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for the reply. I didn't know that the image quality on a lens designed for full frame will be the same on an aps-c. I know it doesn't work the other way around. I learned something new. Edit: Now that I think about it, the image quality might actually be better on aps-c, because your getting more of the center of the lens on the smaller sensor. Edit 2: But, is it still going to be f2.8 value on aps-c? Because you're no longer using all the gathered light.
Great review, thanks for sharing.
I have the Samyang 18mm, do you see much point to getting this over the Samyang?
If you're happy with the Samyang - probably better to spend your money on different focal lengths
What is the brand of tripod "selfie stick" your using - cool video - very much - thanks! 👍
Its Ulanzi MT-46 F38 (with Quick release)
At the risk of sounding stoopid… How does this compare for the Sigma 16mm F 1.4? Low light perhaps not as good? Or are they completely different niches? Thanks.
Hi Mark! Are you using Ulanzi AM28 U-mic if I am not mistaken? Do you have review on that wireless mic?
I am reviewing it now. It's really good
Looks good for the money. I wish these third party lenses could work as well with IBIS
yes, the Sony lenses generally work better with the cameras for stabilization
hi mark , do you reccomend if I use viltrox lens fe 20mm on zve10 ? and which one better with sony lens e 35mm ?
解像度は問題ない。中心の歪曲が気になる。超広角だけに周辺の歪みも気になる。安価で小型軽量は魅力的です。素晴らしい動画をありがとう。
If yo have yo choose between the fx30, a6700, zve1, a7c II where the important thing is stabilization and image Quality Un low light, wich one Will be the winner
ZV-E1 for sure
you were using the new ulanzi mic system?? are you going to do a video about it?
yes and yes. so far it seems really good
I never had a camera before, can you give an advice and suggestions for camera and lens to take good sharp photos for small fish approx. 3cm and they are moving in an aquarium, i want to take standoff photos and close-up, not macros, I'm low on budget, what i know until now that i need full frame because the fish are relatively small, and fast focusing camera, i think 500$ for camera and lens will be my budget for now
What mic are you using. The quality is on point ☝️
the new ulanzi u-mic - review coming soon
Would dynamic stabilization work much better with Sony than Viltrox lenses? Curious how different they communicate.
Fortunately - the dynamic stabilization seems to be just as good with the 3rd party lenses. The Sony's are better with the Active mode - but Dynamic mode seems to compensate for everything
I see you are using the new Ulanzi wireless mics. Is there going to be a comparison for it with rode/dji mics? I just got mine but I havent used it on an actual shoot. I'd be interested in your opinion about it's quality and features.
yes - I’ll be comparing it for sure
Never been THIS early. Niceee
I see you're also testing the new Ulanzi wireless mic system... one set of walking and blogging and two times the reviews!
multi-tasking!!
The Amazon link didn't show it but the Viltrox lens did. I also searched specifically in the VIltrox store for the lens, nudding!
100km/hr winds yesterday in St. Anthony, cheers from da Rock buddy! :)

omg. Photos are just shocking... 😮
Can I get like these ones with my ZV-E10? Additionally, is it possible to take good portraits with it?
Thanks in advance!
For portrait on the school-e10 - get the Viltrox 56 👍
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks
Would love you to check out a review of the 18mm 2.8 from Rokinon/Samyang for vlogging on full-frame :)
I would like to get one in - seems like a great vlogging lens - but it's a fair bit more expensive than this 20
True, true! And Viltrox are really putting out some cool lenses! The 16mm 1.4 for full-frame is soo tempting. I think 20mm is a bit too tight for vlogging, but on the other hand it's cheap and light. This is also why I would love to see a comparison to the 18mm as it's really cheap on the second-hand market here :)@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
That samyang is a lot of fun. Not the sharpest, but so tiny.
Sweet :D@@Nickporter17
i have my king of ZVE1 and seeking for test with this Len exactlyi am gonna use this combination for wedding shoot
Did this just kill the Sony 24G 2.8? 😂 Man, this is such a crazy value.
which one of the viltron would you recommend for low light performance? 16 or 20? I ve heard the 16mm with the 1.8 has its difficulties with the AF in low light. What about the 20mm?
the viltrox 16mm 1.8 would be much better in low light. big difference between the 2.8 and 1.8
Hey Mark, curious what your thoughts are on the osmo pocket 3 over a zv-e10 😊
I'll always choose an interchangeable lens camera over something like that - but it does. look great and might fill a roll for me for sure. So convenient!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I feel the same, I'm mainly looking to get the zve10 as b cam for weddings to replace my old Canon 70D but I was hoping to also get some use for vloging the kids and travel stuff but then DJI releases pocket 3 and now I'm thinking damn its an A cam plus the kids(me) can become famous haha
Question, Mark: as a camera newbie, I’m curious if there’s a difference between a prime lens like this 20mm and the 20mm found within a zoom lens? I assume camera purists will have reasons to choose a prime versus the same focal length from a zoom.
the 20 in the tamron 11-20 will be just as good as this lens. Generally prime lenses are sharper, but in this case, the tamron lens is quite sharp and this is a really budget 20mm
HI Mark. Will you answer this question. Does the lens matter much, now the the ZVE1 has background defocus? My main goal is to blur people in my background. Thank you in advance
yes, the ZV-E1 can only defocus the background using the lens. So the lower the fstop, the blurrier the background will be. It's not like a phone that does it with software, it is real background blur using the lens The ZV-E1 with it's defocus button only opens up the aperture to the max a lens will go
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you so much for the clarity.
Love that graffiti alley. I'd absolutely love to POV walk that. Is it a local attraction?
Just an area in Toronto with a train. Not really a place I was supposed to be!!
Omg!! Do you think that this camera lens is a better wide lens than the Sony 11m f1.8? (I have ZV-e10)
On the ZV-E10 definitely not. The sony 11 will be much wider and is a better lens overall. The Viltrox on the zv-e10 will give you a 30mm filed of view as opposed to the 15.5mm you'll get with the 11
I've been wanting a better quality lens to replace my Samyang 18mm F/2.8 which is just such a fun tiny little lens, but the picture quality just isn't quite as good and the corner distortion is quite high. I think this could be it!
I thought the same thing. But just not sure it is that much better. Plus those extra 2mm make a big difference for recording yourself with another person.
@@Nickporter17 Would be good to see a comparison. The 18mm Samyang is inconsistent though, I tried 2 lenses, one new, one a few years old and the performance was totally different: corner sharpness and distortion is different, even the weight - the older lens was better (!) - either they made them a lot worse or they have terrible quality control problems. I trust Viltrox a lot more.
People’s arms also get horribly distorted on the 18mm even 20% away from the corner, so the extra 2mm are useful but not with people. I’m hoping this won’t happen on the Viltrox.
I have the Samyang 18mm and I find it a sharp lens, I like it, I doubt that this is optically a better lens, and the field of view which is clearly wider than 20mm complements better zooms starting at 24mm, I am still carrying it on travels and photoshoots despite having now the 20-70 zoom....
@@paololarocca7684 depends how lucky you get, some of them are sharper in the top right, sometimes middle, sometimes left corner, some warp the corner very badly, some don't - the quality control on these is just awful. I'm working on a video about this as I got my hands on 2 Samyang 18mm lenses and the performance is totally different (one brand new, one a few years old, the older having better performance). So if you got lucky, that's great, but my experience with Viltrox so far has been substantially better quality control than Samyang.
@@DigiDriftZone I agree that the built quality does not inspire much confidence, once a copy of the 18mm fell on concrete from about half a meter or a bit more and it wasn't working anymore, one side of the frame become completely soft, unusable, other (affordable) lenses had more severe accidents and nothing happened....
Puoi fare un video con questo obiettivo aspc?
Hey brother ❤
Hey there!!
If I take pic of a person 4 ~5 feet away with this lens is there much distortion on the face ?
This is great to visit San Francisco, if it gets stolen it was cheap anyway
ha - yes - an added benefit

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m safe from this one! I don’t have a full frame camera yet… (ZV-E10 only)
@@daniel_tenner LOL, understood.
sony has a apsc pancake pens f2.8 which is just as good and with the zve1 in active IBIS it covers the full frame.
I haven’t checked that with the dynamic stab but from what your saying, that would be a good vlog option (more expensive, but still a good value)
Hmm... The size is tempting BUT I guess I'll stick to my Sony 20mm G 🙂
except for the size and focus breathing (which can be corrected) the 20 G is a better lens for sure!!
I actually prefer the vlog video you showed of the f2.8 lens.... the f1.8 expensive lens blurs out the background so much that you cant see anything, then what is even the point of going anywhere and taking the video when audience cant see anything.
Viltrox been killing it!
absolutely
it is good on sony ZVE10?
I wonder if they are going to make a L- mount version
I know they are making a Z-Mount - but they haven't said anything about an L-Mount
Would you use this on lil dougie zve10?
if I wanted to take street photos or a video with around 30mm field of view - absolutely.
I do not see the aperture setting ring on the lens, is it fixed on f2.8?
many lenses do not have an aperture ring. You control the aperture with the camera dial

Hi, anyone compared this one with the Sony G 24mm f2.8?
Mark what happened to Sigma 16mm f1.4 ? Dethroned ? 😄
The sigma 16 is an APS-C lens - and is easily the best value for the APS-C system. Overall - hard to say if I woul say this 20 is a better value. both are such great bang for buck. But I would take the Sigma any day in the studio and in lowlight
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Did you try the Sigma 16mm f1.4 in zv-e1 , as it its not a full frame lens, Will the result be similar to Viltrox 20mm f2.8 ?
please compare the result, size and weight of this lens vs Tamron 20-40 f2.8
Does this work on Sony zv E-10 ?
For sure!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for the reply! I would love to see a test on that.
