Nissan Maxima GEN4 AC/ALT belt TENSIONER assembly details

taking a look at the ac/alt belt tensioner assembly. Is very well made and simple to manipulate. The key detail is to slightly loosen the 14mm nut on the pulley before making adjustments and then tighten that nut after belt tension is set to lock in the adjustment

I was replacing the alternator and this tensioner gave me an hard time on finishing the job.
the shaft for the bearings was turned 90 degrees and wouldn't slide even after turning it back inside the slide. had to loose the 3 bolt to the bracket to make the pulley go up and put the belt back and re tighten the bolt , pulley and adjuster.
I don't like the design.

looks like I'm going to try that. Having the exact same problem. I've been looking on forms and almost everyone had trouble getting the tensioner to work properly during reinstallation. Should've been done with this yesterday but here we go again today lmao
