The difference between Mori and So Hyang is huge. Listening to So Hyang is like eating a great steak. Listening to Morissette is like getting a great glass of wine with that steak. Richer, fuller, warmer, all around more "comfy". Morissette hands down any day for me.
It’s apples and oranges. They have completely different styles. Amon is more pop-centric while Sohyang has more of a contemporary pop/gospel style. Sohyang is more technically sound and versatile though that clearly doesn’t mean Amon isn’t fantastic.
In fact this guy is right, Sohyang is great but her singing is more to impress than to transmite, you only are like “wow that’s high”, in the other hand Mori does the same but irradiate emotion and soul, what Sohyang is lacking of. Say whatever you want but the truth can’t be deny even if you like it or not. PERIOD

Mori and So are in very different categories but they are both known as the best singers of their countries so I know what you are trying to say by comparing them together. SoHyang is a technical genius, she supports every single note she ever has sung. She has a MONSTROUS belting range going up to a high C#6. And let's not mention that she smiles while doing all of that. However, Mori, Asia's Phoenix, is known for her equally destructive vocal range. I mean, the girl does whistle register. She's also VERY young. So they're both awesome
Mori's voice is so rich and BIG. There is a fullness to her voice. I've never heard anything like it, ever. I don't know what it is, but, her voice is otherworldly.
The way Morisette sings, the way she holds her mouth, how far she opens or keeps it closed, the voice cracks/cries, whistles, everything is intentional with her. She founds what works for her voice and ran with.

I'll go with Mori.... voice quality, diction, creativity..icluding the the iconic crack and whistle.......you dont need to belt every time you sing just to be the best...every singer has its own uniqueness. But i prefer singer who sing with clarity of words and not eat them. I prefer big voice and not thin... its not how you mixed the voice technique...but how you make your voice so unique that you cant be compare to anyone else.....not a copycat.... but a voice when someone hear it they will know whos the singer is......

I watched few grand performances of So Hyang’s, I can say that she is one of the great singers. But Morissette’s Beautiful tone, Squeaks, vocal breaks, powerful voice, amazing range(low to high), whistle and the way she makes me feel while I listen to her, makes her so unique. Her talent is unparalleled!

Yes but not a lot of peeps notice her transition from 3:26 to whistle tone lasted about 14 seconds all in one breath. Now although it's 1 second shorter the degree of difficulty to hold that register note to the end is much harder for her I believe.

Morissette has a much warmer and fuller voice than Sohyang. To me it is much more pleasing to the ear. They are both world class singers but Morissette is definitely on top of her game.

I'm glad you asked the comparison question, because there tends to be camps set up with an either or mindset. I feel you can acknowledge that someone is an incredible vocalist AND also have a preference. My preference is hands down Morissette. Her tone just melts me. Very well said, Terri. I so love Morissette but I have lots of artists that I admire. So Hyang is one of them. Glennis Grace is another. And my list goes quite long and the genres are very varied.
Hi Terri I'm glad I've seen you having good time with Morissette in one of her US leg tours....anyway, yes, preferences for a good singer also hands down to Morissette! :o) why...? because of her whistle tone. In this generation the only person I've ever known is MC but MA does have it too. She is young, can sing and dance and can sing all music genre. Does anyone here (singer) who can do that? Mori and So arent in same category, however, they still have similiraties in terms of belting and their wide range. So Hyang has thin and pristine soft tones and she can really hit high using her mixed. You’ll be amazed everytime you’ll hear it but in the long run, its kinda not interesting not because she isnt good, she’s even a genius in terms of singing but then, as time goes by you’ll expect that she will hit these notes, boom she did that , boom she did that again(sorry for my terms). But, she’s really really good and I really love her techniques especially that pristine tone of her head voice, I’m living for that moment. On the other hand, Mori, she is really a mystery. You know that she can do it but she will do it with an extra unexpectedly that leaves you in awe. She’s really versatile and she has many tones which is really an advantage for her because I can think she’s fit in many genres. She has an advantage of her low notes against So Hyang. In reaching those high belted notes, Mori doesnt always use mixed that’s why you wont get bored in listening to her. Her whistles were really reallyyyyyyy good. The control, dynamics and runs , PERFECTION. She is a really a monster like she will swallow you while listening to her. Sohyang is a great vocalist but i prefer Mori’s tone and she have lots of additives in her voice. Her voice is so flavourful and flexible. She can sing pop, musical, ballad, operatic, rnb and she’s a good rapper too. Mori is such a quality singer not to mention she can even sing while dancing without faltering her voice. Total Performer is the word.❤️

My vote is for Morissette, purely from an emotional and tonal perspective. Even before I knew what the song was about, I still had the "feels" from her interpretation. Not really sure if they’re in the same category? So’s voice is thin and a non-English accent is detected in her enunciations. Mori’s voice is multi-layered and her English is perfect. I think Mori’s biggest competition is coming from her own backyard such as Elaine Duran, Katrina Velarde and KZ just to name a few.
Mori is amazing, but... and I don't mean this to be disrespectful in any way, for there to be "competition" people would have to have heard of any of these people. For now, they are all wallowing in irrelevance. And for the video, her singing is amazing, but I get lost in watching a video of a song in another language that nobody knows from a singer almost nobody knows. At this point it is really just an academic exercise. But, I guess if you are here for the coaching, that's appropriate.
I dont think so...ive watch the other video of soh yang...when it comes to hight note her voice is not clear as morisette voice...when mori belt her high note you can hear the words she pronounce..but sohyang is not...sometimes u can not understand the words because she eat the word when she belt high notes...
Ive watch the video of sohyang singing my heart will go on...for me the original is more better than sohyang version...if you revive one song make sure that your version is more beautiful and better than the original because the listeners will not listen if its not good to hear...

When So Hyang belts, her voice simply screeches my ears, Morisette when she belts her voice is still full. I'm not a vocal coach, thus my ears are innocent., I rely on how the singer connects to the music and how he or she can affect me in such a way that for three to four minutes, I get to experience more than just vocal power, but I prefer feeling the meaning and the soul of the song that is being sung. Music is a language after all, it's an art of touching the heart and soul of the listener, the very essence of why a song is composed, it's like watching short film, there's a story behind the lyrics of a song. Dimash for example, is got to be the most efficient singer in this world, he's voice is so powerful, but personally, I'm not affected by him when he sings, coz I simply feel he's only able to connect to the song he's singing, but to his audience he's completely disconnected. Just a personal opinion really, no offence meant.❤️❤️❤️

Technically, they are both good. For me, voice quality wise, I'll go for Morissette. And It seems that, Morissette has long and controlled whistle tone more than Soyoung, in short, much more distinct. Furthermore, English is not a basic language of both Korea and Ph, not a discriminatory, but I think Morissette has an edge. Nevertheless, I adore them both. They're genuinely gifted.
Cupid Is Love English is the second language of the Philippines and is very widely used, especially in singing, so Mori would definitely have a big edge when singing English music
So Hyang is an incredible singer but I would have to go with Morissette. She can sing any genre plus the extras like the vocal breaks, squeeks growls and of course the whistle tones would make any song she sings unique and special. Also @22 years of age and consistently improving over the last 4 years after joining The Voice Philippines who knows what she will become in maybe a year or 2 from now

True! sohyang can just hit the highest notes but I don't like her vocal and her pronunciations. Unlike mori she's so talented and her vocal is beautiful the pronunciations and of course it's good on your ears when you're listening her singing
They have their own strengths and weakness.. it's a matter of listener's preference. For me, I like Morisette. The way she delivers the song with ease and hit the notes. So pleasing and soothing to hear. Also, I do like Sohyang's cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water. It shows how great she can control her range. But still, Mori overall. ❤

The answer to that question is tough, I think it comes down to preference who sounds the best to your ear, for me Morissette takes it by a smidge. Her whistle of course and she plays around with her melisma inside of it, her chest voice belts are everything, we are talking Celine league! They are pretty much technically perfect singer's so that's a tough question for me to answer, but again it comes down to taste or preference.

The comparison is bias in this point because Morissette is only 22 and So Hyang is in the 40's. Take video of So Hyang when she's 22 years old and compare both of them and you'll find that Morissette is way better and more polished as a singer/vocalist. I've been a fan of So Hyang since 2014 and I can tell you that So Hyang became the best technician when she's in her 30's. So just wait for Morissette to reach her prime and everything is possible for her to develope more her technique as she matures her voice. She has a lot of time to do that. I've known Morissette for more than a year (June 2017) now and So Hyang for 4 years. I've been hooked so much with Morissette now because this young lady is no joke. She is so versatile and a good performer too and I fell in love with her beautiful tone. Morissette is my ultimate fav. singer in Asia. Don't get me wrong I also love So Hyang and untill to this moment I'm still following her.
I've been waiting for this Tara, since you reacted to her Rise Up. Loved the very insightful vocal analysis and reaction to one of Morisette's original songs. While she didn't write it herself. The guy who wrote it, asked Morisette to sing it for him at a song writing competition. Since then it's become synonymous with Morisette. And her voice is just perfect for this song. Tho, I think, the whistle's might be her addition to the song. They are certainly effective. Unless you've heard her whistle before. They catch you unawares. Everybody's reaction is the same as yours, when that high whistle hits you out of nowhere. You might want to check out her Cover of "Secret Love Song" (Little Mix) LIVE on Wish 107.5. It's got over 82 million views on RUclips. Then you might want to check out her Asian Song Festival in Busan, South Korea in 2017. Here she performed 2 songs. The first is "Secret Love Song" again. But with a different arrangement than the Wish bus one. The second song is a mash up of two Mariah Carey songs. "Best Of My Love"and "Emotions". This has whistle notes. But it's a 10 minute plus video. Where she is very active all over a huge stage. Hearing what you said about the difference between the vocal thinness and the crack. I feel that she just slightly overreached herself, especially with all the moving about she did. That the final extra high whistle she did. Slightly cracked. I still think that she has one of the best whistle registers on the planet. As to the comparison between Morissette and So Hyang. That's difficult. As I like them both. And they're different types of singers. I love listening to both of these vocal powerhouses. I've seen fans of both artists say pretty nasty things of the other artist. And vice versa. So I'm not going to invite that kind of hate on my comment. I've too much respect for both of these artists. Or to your channel.

Morissette has a tone that is so pleasing to the ear. Elvis had the same ability. I think most people would prefer to listen to Morissette over other equally talented vocalists for this reason if none other

Sohyang is an unbelievable singer with an unmatched upper belting range. However, she does not have a whistle register. Still I think she’s perhaps the best contemporary singer working.
I will be biased coz I’m a fan of Morissette and she can sing a lot of genre, besides she is still young only 22. What more of she reaches her peak. . Soh yang is I think in her 40’s already.
Hands down Morissette Amon is the best, at least to my ears. She is unrelenting in delivering any songs with top quality to her tone , she never waver.
Waited months for this! Always so informative! Morissette and So Hyang are both amazing singers but to me my preference is morissette only because her tone is much broader and fuller than So Hyang’s. Morissette also has better supported lows. So Hyang has an angelic tone in her mid to upper range. Her belting is also higher than Morissette ‘s which is amazing but gets a little thin for my taste. Morissette’s highs including her whistle tone just simply sounds so pure and effortless to my ears. So Hyang is a very close second to morissette according to my preference.

With her heavenly vocal control, techniques, runs, riffs, range, register, resonance, squeaks, breaks, cracks, cry, vibrato, tone, belt and who doesn't remember her divine whistle notes (let's not forget about that) that are all so majestic she can easily sedates everyone's life turbulence and turned it into hope and love and music. The difference between Mori and So Hyang is huge. Listening to So Hyang is like eating a great steak. Listening to Morissette is like getting a great glass of wine with that steak. Richer, fuller, warmer, all around more "comfy". Morissette hands down any day for me.

It’s apples and oranges. They have completely different styles. Amon is more pop-centric while Sohyang has more of a contemporary pop/gospel style. Sohyang is more technically sound and versatile though that clearly doesn’t mean Amon isn’t fantastic.
In fact this guy is right, Sohyang is great but her singing is more to impress than to transmite, you only are like “wow that’s high”, in the other hand Mori does the same but irradiate emotion and soul, what Sohyang is lacking of.

SoHyang is a technical genius, she supports every single note she ever has sung. She has a MONSTROUS belting range going up to a high C#6. And let's not mention that she smiles while doing all of that.

I'll go with Mori.... voice quality, diction, creativity..icluding the the iconic crack and whistle.......you dont need to belt every time you sing just to be the best...every singer has its own uniqueness. But i prefer singer who sing with clarity of words and not eat them. Yes but not a lot of peeps notice her transition from 3:26 to whistle tone lasted about 14 seconds all in one breath. Now although it's 1 second shorter the degree of difficulty to hold that register note to the end is much harder for her I believe.

Mori and So arent in same category, however, they still have similiraties in terms of belting and their wide range.
So Hyang has thin and pristine soft tones and she can really hit high using her mixed. You’ll be amazed everytime you’ll hear it but in the long run, its kinda not interesting not because she isnt good, she’s even a genius in terms of singing but then, as time goes by you’ll expect that she will hit these notes, boom she did that , boom she did that again(sorry for my terms).
But, she’s really really good and I really love her techniques especially that pristine tone of her head voice, I’m living for that moment.
On the other hand, Mori, she is really a mystery. You know that she can do it but she will do it with an extra unexpectedly that leaves you in awe. She’s really versatile and she has many tones which is really an advantage for her because I can think she’s fit in many genres. She has an advantage of her low notes against So Hyang. In reaching those high belted notes, Mori doesnt always use mixed that’s why you wont get bored in listening to her.

Not really sure if they’re in the same category? So’s voice is thin and a non-English accent is detected in her enunciations. Mori’s voice is multi-layered and her English is perfect. I think Mori’s biggest competition is coming from her own backyard such as Elaine Duran, Katrina Velarde and KZ just to name a few.
Mori is amazing, but... and I don't mean this to be disrespectful in any way, for there to be "competition" people would have to have heard of any of these people. For now, they are all wallowing in irrelevance.
And for the video, her singing is amazing, but I get lost in watching a video of a song in another language that nobody knows from a singer almost nobody knows. At this point it is really just an academic exercise. But, I guess if you are here for the coaching, that's appropriate.

I like what's pleasant for my ears and what I can listen over and over. And that's her. She's better than most of the singers.
When So Hyang belts, her voice simply screeches my ears, Morisette when she belts her voice is still full. I'm not a vocal coach, thus my ears are innocent., I rely on how the singer connects to the music and how he or she can affect me in such a way that for three to four minutes, I get to experience more than just vocal power, but I prefer feeling the meaning and the soul of the song that is being sung. Music is a language after all, it's an art of touching the heart and soul of the listener, the very essence of why a song is composed, it's like watching short film, there's a story behind the lyrics of a song.
Dimash for example, is got to be the most efficient singer in this world, he's voice is so powerful, but personally, I'm not affected by him when he sings, coz I simply feel he's only able to connect to the song he's singing, but to his audience he's completely disconnected. Just a personal opinion really, no offence meant.❤️❤️❤️

Technically, they are both good. For me, voice quality wise, I'll go for Morissette. And It seems that, Morissette has long and controlled whistle tone more than Soyoung, in short, much more distinct.
Furthermore, English is not a basic language of both Korea and Ph, not a discriminatory, but I think Morissette has an edge.
Nevertheless, I adore them both. They're genuinely gifted.

The answer to that question is tough, I think it comes down to preference who sounds the best to your ear, for me Morissette takes it by a smidge. Her whistle of course and she plays around with her melisma inside of it, her chest voice belts are everything, we are talking Celine league! They are pretty much technically perfect singer's so that's a tough question for me to answer, but again it comes down to taste or preference.

The comparison is bias in this point because Morissette is only 22 and So Hyang is in the 40's. Take video of So Hyang when she's 22 years old and compare both of them and you'll find that Morissette is way better and more polished as a singer/vocalist. I've been a fan of So Hyang since 2014 and I can tell you that So Hyang became the best technician when she's in her 30's. So just wait for Morissette to reach her prime and everything is possible for her to develope more her technique as she matures her voice. She has a lot of time to do that. I've known Morissette for more than a year (June 2017) now and So Hyang for 4 years. I've been hooked so much with Morissette now because this young lady is no joke. She is so versatile and a good performer too and I fell in love with her beautiful tone. Morissette is my ultimate fav. singer in Asia. Don't get me wrong I also love So Hyang and untill to this moment I'm still following her.

I've been waiting for this Tara, since you reacted to her Rise Up. Loved the very insightful vocal analysis and reaction to one of Morisette's original songs. While she didn't write it herself. The guy who wrote it, asked Morisette to sing it for him at a song writing competition. Since then it's become synonymous with Morisette. And her voice is just perfect for this song. It's got over 82 million views on RUclips. Then you might want to check out her Asian Song Festival in Busan, South Korea in 2017. Here she performed 2 songs. The first is "Secret Love Song" again. But with a different arrangement than the Wish bus one. The second song is a mash up of two Mariah Carey songs. "Best Of My Love"and "Emotions". This has whistle notes. But it's a 10 minute plus video. Where she is very active all over a huge stage. Hearing what you said about the difference between the vocal thinness and the crack. I feel that she just slightly overreached herself, especially with all the moving about she did. That the final extra high whistle she did. Slightly cracked. I still think that she has one of the best whistle registers on the planet.
As to the comparison between Morissette and So Hyang. That's difficult. As I like them both. And they're different types of singers. I love listening to both of these vocal powerhouses. I've seen fans of both artists say pretty nasty things of the other artist. And vice versa. So I'm not going to invite that kind of hate on my comment. I've too much respect for both of these artists. Or to your channel.

@@lanecongson8804 thanks for the link, yes I can see that you are right. She doesn't crack on the raw one. But, being raw! And so far back from the stage. The video quality isn't as good as the official one. But the official one must have something that distorted that end whistle. Like you said, it's fine in the raw video. In any case, that last whistle was extremely high. I hope there wasn't any windows close by lol.

I love Morissette more coz she know when to show off and when to hold back, espcially I feel that her sound more clear.
Morissette has a tone that is so pleasing to the ear. Elvis had the same ability. I think most people would prefer to listen to Morissette over other equally talented vocalists for this reason if none other

Given above, Morissette is still very young and has room to improve but still a great singer. But in terms of high notes and techniques Sohyang is better given the fact that shes in her prime and have been singing for years... in terms of tone i prefer mori’s thicker tone

Sohyang is an unbelievable singer with an unmatched upper belting range. However, she does not have a whistle register. Still I think she’s perhaps the best contemporary singer working.

Hands down Morissette Amon is the best, at least to my ears.
She is unrelenting in delivering any songs with top quality to her tone , she never waver.
Waited months for this! Always so informative! Morissette and So Hyang are both amazing singers but to me my preference is morissette only because her tone is much broader and fuller than So Hyang’s. Morissette also has better supported lows. So Hyang has an angelic tone in her mid to upper range. Her belting is also higher than Morissette ‘s which is amazing but gets a little thin for my taste. Morissette’s highs including her whistle tone just simply sounds so pure and effortless to my ears. So Hyang is a very close second to morissette according to my preference.

In techniques So Hyang is already a pro compared to morisette. The only thing that i don’t like about so hyang is her tone. Its not that pleasant to ears.

as an avid follower and listener of sohyang and morissette..both ofthem are great but here is the catch morissette is just 22 yrs old.. most of the song you watch in youtube she sang when she was 18-21 so her voice is not at peak yet..unlike sohyang..
