Always fun to see a music professional being blown away by Queen Mori. Don't worry about crying, because everybody does. I've said this so many times, but she inhabits her songs like no other. If you want pop diva try "Fly Like a Bird", if Broadway try "Defying Gravity", if classic soft rock is your jam "I Want to Know What Love Is" will still your heart. She slays them all. Her versions become the standard.

Morissette is making a name that when she sing a prexisting song as a cover, she slays it so much that her rendition in more than a few instances have been noted to be favored more than the original.

She has lots to offer and has been used by many voice teachers/vocal coaches in teaching their students. More singing technical skills than any artists that I know. Can sing in all genres. Secret love song, I finally found someone with Journey frontman Arnel Pineda(impromptu), Against all odds, Rise up, Shine, etc. And live at MYX... I wanna know what love is, Stone cold, Di mapaliwanag, Someone's always saying goodbye" etc.
I have been watching different reactions of Akin Ka Na Lang by Morissette Amon for 3 consecutives days ... but still have goosebumpz everytime she belted out that powerful whistletone and her magical squeak!
She is a excellent and beautiful person inside and outside person.

Morissette is in my opinion one of the best live vocalist and performer going around in the music industry today! The emotions she brings to each performance really draws the audience in. You can really feel every note she sings! You are definitely spot on about her versatility and agility with her voice. That’s why she has the amazing ability to cover so many genres.

It's always a delight to see surprised honest reactions of Voice coaches and other musicians to Mori's performances. Almost all have similar reactions which is they get blown away by Morissette's amazing vocals and consider her in the same level as the top mainstream divas. Not only does she have a beautiful tone, displays great dynamics, has incredible breath control, she is also a good storyteller listeners gets pulled in and get mesmerized by her performance. She is also a versatile singer she can slay covers in different genres adding her own spins to make the song her own. She even outperformed the original RISE UP in vocals and number of views (more than 400M) that Andra Day had Morissette's cover on WISHBUS deleted several times. U have just been given the key 2 "Asia's Phoenix" world! Please do more Morrisette and I will Sub 4 sure. My fave of hers is the "Fly like a bird" cover of a Mariah Carey song. You hit the nail on the head when you said that she was using the skills for the sake of the song or to portray emotions. This would be more evident as you watch more of her videos. You have a excellent knowledge and great observational skills plus one of the most pleasing personalities I've ever come across a YT vocal teacher. I wish you and your channel good luck but I don't think you need it. It's just a matter of time before you have thousands of subscribers.

As a long-time fan of Morissette that's generally one of many things that set her apart; her feeling the song and emoting. Combine that with her technical prowess, wonderfully rich tone and great musicality....and the result is just spectacular.

You're quite one of the few reactors who noticed and mentioned her breath control over that long note in the song's bombastic finale....14-15 seconds of pure mastery over ones vocal ability.
Love your description of how her talent is in how she remains in story and applies her runs as real emotions and not as performance bravado. I have watched her sing this many times and your summary of her at the end is my favorite and best describes what I was feeling when first hearing this incredible voice.

I suggest, Rise up acapella version or any Mori song, you cannot go wrong..
Thank you for noticing her breath control especially the belted runs (one breath sang for 14 seconds) at the last chorus. I find it more impressive than the whistle note. Just to add something, in case you didn't noticed, right before her whistle, she held a long chest vocal belt then flipped into whistle which means from chest belt to whistle, she held it for 12 secs in one breath.
Love her. She never fails to impress me with her vocal agilities.
There is 1 China singer call Zhou Shen that u can check him out as well. His angelic voice sure capture ur souls different from what Morissette offers. He can sings in many languages. Prob you can start with Monsters - Zhou Shen. Or his much earlier performances Time To Say Goodbye.
There are so many great singers from all over the world. But Queen Morissette is the only artist that just touches me deep. Makes you happy and emotional. Her acapella version of “Rise Up” with the band 3rd Avenue is awesome too…

Do check out her original music from her EP titled Signature. There are numerous videos of live performances of Love You Still, Phoenix, Trophy, Mirror, and Will You Stay. All these performances are fantastic. She, and her husband, Dave Lamar, are exceptional songwriters.
I'm not even her fan but this song and this performance is something magical. I don't even like love songs but her performance makes me bawl my eyes out every time.

Thanks for the incisive commentary on Mori's abilities. She is truly a wonder when it comes to singing. I know you'll be inundated by requests for more songs of her for you to react on, so I'll veer from that (all those suggestions would be awesome, btw). My own recommendation would be for you to sample other artists from over here in the Philippines. Start with Gigi de Lana, Katrina Velarde, Daryl Ong, and maybe do a sample of Lea Salonga of Broadway/Mulan/Aladdin fame. This is a vey deep well you're just barely dipping your toes into---it's the most musical country in the world. Stay safe!

I've watched a lot of reactions before for Morissette's performances, and I must say that this was the first time someone said that there's life in what she's singing, or in the way she sings this song. You also mentioned that it was not stagnant. I love it when voice coaches know what they're saying, and when they can properly appreciate every tiny detail about a performance.

Glad you've discovered Morissette Amon. I have gotten jaded with popular music over the decades and it wasn't until the pandemic isolation that I rekindled my love for music with discoveries of amazing talents from around the world. Changed my perspective and outlook. Haven't heard a female voice like her's in a very long time. So rich, emotional, and resonating. She's the next world Diva!
I see you have also found Dimash Qudaibergen!!! Probably the discovery the lifetime! This man is unique, a singularity among singers. He is generational. No one in my nearly 60 years have I heard a voice like his. Too bad you got introduced on one of his less optimal performances for the TV show, The Voice. He was rather poorly treated by the judges and producers and made to look bad to the US audience! I and his legion of fans, the Dears will likely recommend you treat yourself to an aural experience of epic proportions, with his gateway song, S.O.S. Some favorites would be how it all began for Dimash, with his breakthrough performance in 2017 in China on the contest, The Singer. An alternative of SOS would be his 2018 Belarus performance. Also recommend you listen to Sinful Passion at Sochi 2018. Followed by Love is Like A Dream, 2019. These triad of performances paves the way to being "Dimashified". :-)
If you wish to add another phenomenal contemporary singer to react to, I recommend Hua Chen Yu. He is currently the top rock/pop star of China. His performances, composing, stage presence, vocal prowess have made him a prolific force in modern contemporary music. I recommend you check out: Nunchucks, Ordinary Path, Qi Tian, Child, Bull Fighting, Daddy I'm Home, Fake Monk. Be prepared to be shook by the last performance.
