    You are so right. When I was young I hit my face with a puff full of powder, then brushed it off. I went through powder like crazy. Now? Fo-get-about-it. Just a touch. Powder now lasts forever. 😊

    Is there a story about why you finish your videos with chicken sounds? Do you have chickens? Or just like them? I'd love to know!

      @TheHoodedLid  Год назад +11

      So glad! No story - I was just looking for free audio and came across the chickens and thought it was funny/iconic. Also, at the time, several neighbors had chickens you could hear in my videos. I think the coyotes got them - but my audio remains!

    Great video. You did an excellent job of explaining the “who, what, where, when and why” of face powder. I think it’s funny that women always excused themselves to ‘go powder my nose’ in older movies.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  Год назад +1

      I do wonder if there was actually foundation around (I know there was pancake) - but I wonder, did women wear foundation in the 40's or was powder it?

    • @maureenturk8578
      @maureenturk8578 Год назад +1

      I think they had foundation, but letting one’s nose get shiny during an evening out was unacceptable. It’s why ladies left the dinner table in pairs to touch up any shine! Funny 😆

    What a great tip to wet the beauty blender when you wash your face! And oh yes, i remember the days I would pull out my cover girl compact powder and run that puff all over my face. Several times a day. Now…most days no powder or just a dusting of HG Ambient Light finishing powder. . But I must try your ByTerry!

    Great video as always. I might try the ‘By Terry’ powder to get more longevity from my foundation on my cheeks. I have dry skin and tend to use hourglass finishing powders as my setting/blurring powders. Thanks for the lesson.

    Great series. Now that I am older I find powder under my eyes just accentuates my lines so I don’t use it there but I do apply it lightly to area either side of my nose, my chin and the middle of forehead. Enjoyed watching 😊

    Hi Kiki I find powder lasts me years 😂 as I use a tiny amount for my super dry skin. Due to rosacea and eczema I do have texture in the centre of the face and that’s where I use powder for a little blurring. I use a tiny bit of the by Terry on a fluffy eyeshadow brush and then a light dusting of the hourglass ambient pressed powder throughout the t zone (rarely do I use any powder under my eyes). The slightest whisper of powder is all I need- the by Terry lasted over two years and the hourglass is over two years old and still going strong. I’m super pale and cool toned so white, pink or lavender powder works well for me. Tinted “skin tone” powder is usually too dark or too yellow for my skin. Best wishes x

      The WA I have is pink, so I rarely use it - I thought I would be good for taking the warmth in some foundations down a notch - but I have the loose By Terry in pink so I don't really pull for the WA. The WA also feels a bit dry under the eyes.

    Hello! Thank you for the nice detailed review!:) I have a very hollow and purple undereyes and just recently started concealing and choosing the powder now. I am considering By Terry versus Gyvenchy libre because I saw many reviews that said that nothing set them as good as Gyvenchy under the eyes specifically. ALso one reviewer compared By Terry with Huda beauty powder and the Huda held without creasing for longer. Uch - not sure how to choose, just dont want it to make me older. My under eyes are very dry too. I was alsot thinking that a pinkish tone By Terry could work for people with Hollowness like me, since it woild brighten a bit. Have you given a proper try of Gyvenchy for under eyes? what would you recommend for my situation?:) Thank you! (pps Gyvenchy has Talc, so that's a minus). Also, why do. you choose By Terry for the rest of your face apart from under eyes and not Charlotte tilbury? :)

    I finally found the powder I am happy to use it, its new(i think) Estee Lauder flattery powder, super finely milled, but because i apply in only certain spots, the only powder i dont see the edges where i placed it❤ ( like super matte around the nose and then glowy the rest of the face - i dont like this effect) translucent but sort of radiant, even though it says matte, try it at the store if you get a chance.
    My problem with powders - they change the color of my foundation/concealer, so any brightening or hydrating effect i wanted to achieve is now dead after applying powders.
    Also it changes the finish of foundation, because i buy foundations also based on how they look on skin, but as soon as i apply powder - bam! The beauty of skin the foundation gave is now also ruined 😂 maybe its just me, but powders always give me this makeupy caked look, unless i look at myself from far away 😅

    I also have a Sonia G buffing brush and it makes all the difference when applying finishing powders. Mine has a burgundy handle & it’s called the “Buffer Pro,” not sure if we have the same one or not. Your hair is so stunningly beautiful. I assume you’ve heard that all your life.🪞

      I think one of the brushes might be larger than the other (or maybe the blue handle was in a set at one point?). Thanks so much - yes when my hair is down and it's behaving itself, I would get compliments. The funny thing is I've always had too much hair, it felt heavy and was a true love/hate relationship. Now I have much less hair and it's much easier to work with - lol!
