It's pretty awesome that the author of that book was only 14 when she wrote the first draft, then got it published when she was 18.
She was 15 when she started writing it
+Geeky Ravenclaw She also used S.E. Hinton instead of her first name because back then Women were not suppose to write books .
+Dan Reese I know that's crazy right !
+SidLuvsYou That really inspires me to publish the book I'm writing called The Whack-Life CLub
15 actually.
Sorry folks. You never see a line up of great actors like these in your days.
their acting was crappy though dafuq?
+Emira it was not crappy!!! Have you even seen the movie? Or read the book? It's much better then some movies now a days, like Percy Jackson and shit. (I love the books)
But Percy Jackson was a bad film. We've had plenty good films.
David Aames the departed had great cast, so did this is the end.
David Aames lol some of these actors were pretty trash tbh
For some reason, the voice cracks me up. I don't know why though.

the casting for this movie was AMAZING! some of the most iconic and popular 80s actors. I love this cast
I love how it goes from “Sodapop….Darrell….Two-bit” and straight into, “Steve.”
“Bob.”
How they say the names so seriously too
😂Right?!
The trailer makes it seems so boring
yeah it really does.
+Ponyboy Loves ponies at least it isn't giving out spoilers unlike other movie trailers.
+Ponyboy Loves ponies ikr!
not if you watch it right after reading the book...then it makes you excited af
Maybe they expected everyone to have read the book, or they didn't want to spoil, that or maybe they wanted it to be more about people then events, you know, the they could be your neighbours kind of a story...maybe...
In the movie, Johnny honestly looks exactly how I pictured him (I read the book first)
Same, its crazy lol
RockyLPS that’s how I felt
I imagined Johnny in the book with light brown hair and shorter than he was in the movie
Sameee thoooooo
I read the book first too but I always pictured him as Patrick Swayze
IM SORRY WHY DOES DALLAS NOT HAVE LIGHT BLOND HAIR AND ICEY BLUE EYES
the adventures of gray
Idk why he doesn’t have blond hair but that’s just how it is some movies can’t make each book character look they way he/ she looks in the book and in my opinion I think they did pick a good actor for Dally but that’s just me
brdngxgrysn EXACTLY!!!!
Well I thought the same way but I cannot imagine Dallas Winston to be any other then Matt Dillon
It wears off real fast
that bothered me so much back when my class read & watched the outsiders in 8th grade omfg

It’s 2022 and this is still one of my favorite movies and was the very first “movie” as a kid that got my full attention. Long live the 80’s and the greasers.
When i stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie
house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home... THE BOOK IS AWESOME.
I love that there is Ponyboy and Soda. Then there's just Darrel. Just Darrel. Nothing special.
Eldest son named after the father, with the next two you can be a little more creative when it comes to names...

Well is this worse Johnny dies from rescuing a little kid in a burning church and afterwards part of the church (that was on fire) fell on Johnny and was rushed to the hospital and minutes later he died.
The book and the movie were both amazing. I have to give it to the book, though. Brought me to damn tears.

I was a freshman in high school in New York city when this came out. You had to go to a movie theater to see this and pay $4.00 I think it was at the time. Maybe $7.00 The movie captured a moment in time that will never be repeated.
Great lineup of actors and singer Leif Garett who fell from grace years later.

I feel bad for Dallas and Johnny at the end.
I feel bad for Dallas because he got shot to death when his gun was not loaded and I feel bad for Johnny because he died trying to help children in a fire.
Also does anyone know that Darrel died in real life?
His name is Patrick Swayze and yeah he died of Pancreatic cancer so sad tho he was such a great actor.
@@awesomeswagman133 I know I'm responding 5 years late, but Dallas wanted to be killed. After Johnny, the only person he loved and cared about died, he thought that his life had no purpose. So he decided to commit suicide-by-cop and made it seem like he had his gun loaded so that the police would shoot at him. You probably already figured this out though.
This move had the dream team for actors,
Tom Cruise
Patrick Swazye
Ralph Macchio (From karate kid)
Rob Lowe ( famous actor and director)
And surprisingly Nicholas cage and Johnny dep ( in the small fight scenes)

There are so many great actors in this movie. Such a timeless classic..
I've always wondered why C. Thomas Howell never really made it big as an actor.
He was in a few B-grade movies but nothing special after The Outsiders and Red Dawn.
Too bad too, I always thought he was a great actor. A little before my time but I still enjoy his movies.
he has been in other movies like Gettysburg
he got some good movies out there though atm but meh his time is still going. might get into some big ones some day
Man, this comment made me realize that he wasn't actually as big as I remembered him to be. I thought he was in a lot of bigger films. The Hitcher was awesome though.
He did great on Criminal Minds.
He has well over 200 credits and has been working professionally, consistently since the age of 7. You have a warped definition of "making it big."

I’m reading Rob Lowe’s book where he describes the whole movie production process. This was his first major movie and the beginning of the Brat Pack. It all got a bit “method” at times, such as the guys holding boxing sparring sessions in the hotel corridor, with gloves and helmets, beating the snot out of each other.
I remember reading and watching that. Also RIP Patrick Swayze. :(

today I found the book of the movie in a book store and I bought it because it sounded pretty interesting and it was old school so yea. I started reading it in the subway and I can't stop. Didn't know that it has a movie too. deffinietly gonna watch it but first the book tho. I'm 21 years old.

The casting in this film is GOLD. One of the very best ensemble casts ever assembled for film, very very faithful to book. This kind of casting would be impossible today. There were no POC's in the novel.

😭 I wish I can go back in time 80's & 90's.. I miss The times, miss The movies.. The Music etc. Ahhhhhh take me back
Man, this is an ancient comment. But yeah -- I grew up in the 80s. I graduated high school in 1987. Loved the music. Now we're so saturated with bullshyte rap and hip hop that good music is now just a distant memory. But most of the movies? Meh. I guess it depends on what kinds of movies a person likes. I just find a lot of movies from the 80s rather cheesy/campy these days. But the 80s did have its greats -- Ghost Busters, the Indiana Jones trilogy, 2 of the 3 original Star Wars movies. Back to the Future. Red Dawn. And one of the most underrated movies of all time - Remo Williams. I don't even know if you can get Remo Williams on DVD, that's how underrated it is.
7th grade. My language arts teacher handed everyone “the outsiders” book. What did I think of it? I thought it would be boring like all the other books we read. Boy was I wrong. Probably one of the best books I’ve ever read in my life.

Going by how things are today, if they did remake it, it would be with black transsexual women, and we'd all have to clap and say how courageous it is.
Yeh, some movies NEED a remake.
I disagree movies like this and the goonies and stand by me are awesome classics and I don’t want them ruined
I miss the 80's. Saw this on VHS recorded from showtime in 1986
It's an impossible task to remake this and even come next to how good this movie was. You had about 10 young up and coming superstar casts in this original alone. Coppola has always found the best casts for his movies.

I absolutely love the book and the movie, but I think it would be awesome if they did a remake! Of corse, they would have to put effort into it, unlike some remakes.
They technically can't without Patrick Swayze because he died. But if you're talking about a re make with different actors then..they would have to put a lot of effort in unlike other remakes. It's probably better for them to not make a remake because it could just ruin the movie. That's my opinion though.
idk if they would be able to make a good remake
I agree but the only thing that I hate about this movie is that none of them wear frigging leather jackets or denim jackets exempt for Dallas, two bit, Johnny and Tim because leather jackets/denim jackets is like a staple of the greasers.
